Interaction with Guests
We offer a really personalised expereince. We only have three rooms and this allows us to share with our guests and have conversations together over breakfast. We also enjoy walking around the property with guests and invite our guests to participate in farming activities, such as milking the cows and feeding the chickens, with us. We like to talk to our guests, but we also are sure to respect your privacy and allow you time to relax.
Bijagua is still a very traditional and 'authentic' Costa Rican rural town. Many families are involved in farming to make a living. The dense rainforest surrounds the town. You might see people riding horses around the countryside and friendly neighbours might wave as you drive past. Welcome to the 'real' Costa Rica. We are really close to Rio Celeste which is located in the Volcano Tenorio National Park. Come and experience authentic rural Costa Rica!
There are buses that stop in Bijagua, contact us for more information. There is not a public bus to the National Park. There are private taxis that operate in the area if you don't have a car.

We had a very memorable stay at Casitas Tenorio. Pip and Donald and their girls were very friendly and welcoming, and made us feel like family. Our three year old daughter had a great time, playing with the girls, walking the trail on the property and watching the monkeys and toucans near our room. Donald was so attentive, teaching us how to milk the cows, and make cheese.
The casitas are very clean and comfortable, and surrounded by nice gardens. We loved the sound of the crickets and frogs at night, the birds and monkeys in the morning...
We really liked the paintings that decorate the casitas and the eating area. The breakfast was delicious. The town is lovely, and the near by restaurants recommended by Pip and Donald are good. The location is great for visiting the Parque Nacional Tenorio, and it's amazing Río Celeste and waterfall.
We will definitely be back!
This place is magical. We hiked their property and milked a cow! Pip provide a really special experience for us and a lovely breakfast. You will probably never meet someone that cares more about local community. The room was awesome and a perfect location for visiting Rio Celeste. Awesome place!!!
When we booked our trip to Costa Rica, we wanted to get away from the day-to-day grind and truly relax. And we got an amazing experience out in the middle of the rainforest at Casitas Tenorio, tucked away in the rural part of the country where we got to really understand Pure Vida. Pip and Donald were awesome hosts and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The breakfast every morning was amazing - fresh fruits, eggs, cheese...all freshly made and picked from their farm. The casita that we stayed at was cute and simple, which was what we were looking for, surrounded by beautiful nature. If we are in the area again, we will definitely be back!
Pip and Donald are amazing hosts! They make you feel so welcome at their home and on their beautiful property. I would recommend this place to anyone! The property is amazing and offers wonderful views of the mountains. We saw lots of wildlife on the proprty (along the trail and around the cabins/breakfast room) including a sloth, monkeys, many birds (Which Donald was wonderul enough to provide names and information on). The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast both mornings was wonderful with fresh items from their property. This is a great place to either relax and enjoy the mountains or to head to Rio Celeste. We were originally going to spend only 1 night usuing Bijagua as a stop over to the coast, we eneded up staying for 2 and wished we had stayed a couple more. Pip was also able to give lots of suggestions on places to visit while in the area. If you have the time give yourself at least 2 nights here, you won't regret it!
The eco-lodge was great, directions were perfect and we had an awesome stay. Would have liked to stay longer but couldn't. The pictures are a fair representation of the apartment. We had a perfect breakfast made for us and watched the hummingbirds whilst eating. There was also a sloth on the grounds. Thanks Pip and Donald!! :) we had a great stay.
There are simply not enough good things to say about Casitas Tenorio. First: it was easy to find even in the dark because they did such a good job with signage on the roads. Secondly: we were greeted so graciously by our host Antony when we arrived, and then by Eli with breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was beyond spectacular and we loved visiting with Eli. She was so helpful with information about the wildlife in the area. We spent the afternoon at Rio Celeste (which was very blue by the way, even in the rainy season), then when we returned Eli and Anthony helped us make reservations at our next location and then sent us on our way with a piece of fruit.
Our casita was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The shower was definitely a highlight - it felt like an outside shower, it was beautiful.
If you're looking for wifi, you'll find it at the reception. Otherwise the casitas have no wifi or tv (seriously, get unplugged).
There are howler monkeys and sloths on the property as well as all the fun farm animals.
But as cute and comfortable the place is, the best part of Casitas Tenorio is the people there. We felt like family!
