About This Listing
Double room by Thames, SW London
A lovely and spacious family house by the River Thames in Fulham, with a double room to rent and when available, two additional bedrooms for children or additional guests. You will have your own bathroom (one is en suite and the other is shared), TV, wifi and fantastic bus routes to central London from the end of the road. Most of my bookings tend to come through this listing so if there is no availability showing, it is still worth messaging me to see if one of the other rooms is free. Alternatively, look at airbnb.co.uk/rooms/705526 and airbnb.co.uk/rooms/705523 too.
Hammersmith and Putney Bridge tube stations are about a 20 minute walk away along the river and I am close to the river bus too if you prefer the scenic route to the City. I'm close to Heathrow Airport (20 minute drive or direct Tube line from Hammersmith). Lovely, leafy river walks one minute away and 20 minutes on the bus to the shopping district of Knightsbridge and the museums of South Kensington. Unusually large garden too, so lots of green space for you to relax, quite rare for London! This area of Fulham is quite residential, but roads are quiet and parking is readily available ( £2. 20 per hour on the meter between 9 and 5 should you have a car ) . Please note, there are times of the year, when demand is high, that my longer term discounts will not apply.
I am pretty relaxed and happy to try and accomodate your plans, but ideally if guests can check in after 3pm that would be prefereable. I am happy to provide a continental breakfast that I will leave out until 10am. Check out for overnight guests by 10am and longer term guests, I will give you a set of keys to come and go as you wish. No smoking inside, but have a nice, big garden if you are desperate! There is metered car parking right outside the door if you do have a car and if not, the bus stop is right at the top of the road with the closest tubes being Hammersmith or Putney Bridge. These are about a 20 minute walk away or a 3-4 minute bus journey. Guests are not permitted to invite friends to the house unless pre-agreed with myself and certainly no 'friends' may stay overnight. If longer term guests should require an overnight guest, this will be at my discretion, depending on how busy the house is at that time, and will be chargable - an additional £30 a night.
Debbie is a nice person trying to make your stay as good as possible. I was however disappointed with the noise coming from the shower's engine every time another guest is using it. In other words, depending on the room you would sleep in, you should expect to be disturbed by a pretty aggressive engine noise.
I wish I knew this detail as I mentioned I was sensitive to the noise and therefore I am not sure I will come back.
I must add that that unless you are deaf, you will really hear this noise at moments you would prefer to keep sleeping or falling asleep.
Other than that, the place is clean, comfortable and close to Heathrow airport.
Debbie was warm and friendly. The house was very comfortable and convenient to the Hammersmith tube station and bus stops. Also close to the Thames. I would definitely recommend her home!
This was my first time doing this and Debbie's hospitality got me hooked. Her and her family were a delight. I wish I could have stayed longer and chatted more. I really enjoyed being in a family setting. Everyone was friendly and attentive asking if there was anything I needed.
In regards to the accommodations it was better then I had expected and it felt if I had my own suite. The room had various types of lighting to suit a mood. The bed and blankets were soft and cozy. And it was quiet. This was great especially after grinding days pounding the London streets taking street photography. The house is well designed and I loved the bathroom.
The home was very well detailed with a sharp sense of interior design. The photo collages throughout were insightful and enabled that good feeling of being there. Definitely my cup of tea.
I am already planning my next trip to London and I will coordinate my stay back at Debbie's home. Her home will become my London oasis.

About the Host, Debbie
I live with my two children in a lovely family Fulham terraced house with unusually large garden. I am very social and enjoy meeting new people so thought the combination of that and earning some money to help with the mortgage seemed a good plan! I have two spare double rooms and as my children are at boarding school, there is extra space available term time if a family should be interested. One of the rooms I use for longer term lodgers so that is also a possibility when available. I very much look forward to hearing from you.
