Great house, very spacious the photos don't really do it justice. We had a great few days exploring the town and countryside nearby.

Our family of 5 stayed here one week. Mohamed is a most gracious host and the home was lovely. It's is beautifully tasteful in decoration, and very comfortable in accommodations. The entrance is especially fun--one of those low blue entrances off the walkway. Once you open up the beautiful wooden door, you find yourselves to be in a spacious comfortable home. There is a European style living/dining room as well as a traditional Moroccan living room. Plenty of space for us to hang out together reading and playing games in the afternoons. The sounds of the river and a distant rooster float in when you open the terrace door. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals, and there are restaurants close by serving all 3 meals. There are two bedrooms on the second story. And a terrace on the third story with a covered area for drying laundry. Located in the medina, but on the edge, it is quiet and restful. It is close enough to walk to everything in a few minutes. There is safe parking with an attendant, for a fee, not far. Chefchaouen is on a hill so be prepared to walk a lot, but every street is photo worthy. It's magical. Most of the area has only narrow walking streets, there is little automobile noise! I highly recommend this home for a vacation in Chefchaouen.

Mohamed was an extremely gracious host. He greeted us and helped us carry our bags, gave us a thorough tour of the house and some history of Chefchaouen and Morocco, and he left us some food including mint for tea. Furthermore, I asked him about guides for hiking, and he went way above and beyond, interviewing guides to make sure we got the best one, and we ended up having a really special experience with the guide he selected. The location of the home is so fabulous, in the medina but not in the busy section. The calm and pretty views can be enjoyed on any of the three decks. If you're bustling around Morocco like we were, you'll find this tranquil home to be a great respite. The internet didn't work for the 5 days we were there which was unfortunate since part of the reason we chose this location was for wifi. Mohamed was nice about it not working, but ideally we would have been offered some sort of discount. I will mention that this is Mohamed's home, so some family belongings (clothes, shoes, toiletries) were around the house, and the home feels lived in. It's tidy and it was relatively clean, but it's not a hotel.

Very nice, large, well located apartment with not one, but three terraces for enjoying the air and the view (this was a major plus). Mohamed thoughtfully provisioned the apartment so we didn't need to eat out after arriving late in the day. There was a Moroccan lounge and a 'European lounge' and everything we could need - except wireless internet. Mohamed very kindly lent us his laptop complete with an internet dongle but it's not the same as having wireless which we both can use with our iPads. As the property is tucked under the mountains our data plan internet didn't work in there either so we found this pretty inconvenient. The apartment is near Ras El Ma, where a natural spring gushes from rocks in the valley and where locals congregate for leisure, and for doing the washing. It's a fantastic atmosphere in the evenings, and all day Sunday. There's a great cafe with good coffee about 100 metres towards the spring (with wireless), and a lovely restaurant with terraced gardens a few steps down near the water. The apartment is in the old medina and easy wandering to the square, and all the lovely blue alleyways that make Chefchaouen such a wonderful place to stay. The apartment is a little on the expensive side, but we wanted comfort and space, and that's what we got. Hopefully wireless will be installed soon and that would make this apartment a gem!

Response from Mohamed:
Hi Kate, Thank you for the review, but having an English key board laptop in the house was not part of the deal. People who stayed in our house and had their personal laptop had no problem at all accessing the internet using the wireless dongle we provide. It was not either part of the deal that I leave you my personal computer, despite the inconvenience I suffered as a result. Nor was it part of the deal to leave you enough food at he house to be able to have dinners at home! But this is part of our hospitality instinct as Moroccans... Thank you anyway for staying with us!
