A visit to the Philippines won 't be complete without coming to one of the world 's largest shopping meccas, SM 's Mall of Asia (10 minutes away).

You also might want to try to learn more about your beloved country by dropping by to historical landmarks like the '''walled city of Intramuros (30 minutes away), where centuries old churches, San Agustin Church and The Manila Cathedral are found.

For those who want to enjoy the metro 's night scene, you can try the clubs in Makati (15 minutes away) and Malate (15 minutes away), and the restaurants in The Baywalk (15 minutes away), along Roxas Boulevard.

Also a few steps away are fast food chains like Mc Donald 's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Kenny Roger 's Roasters, and Jollibee. Hang out and kill time in Red Ribbon and Starbucks Coffee. • We were ready to walk out! I have read many reviews about many places to stay, and sometimes I ask myself why people are whinging so much because my experiences have been positive. Well for the first time I have to be one of those people and give a review unlike most of the others, because in my (our) opinion, this place is not what it is claimed. Things started off badly when I tried contacting the host via email, and no response. Another try after a text message got a reply stating the original was not received. I know it was sent, my sent items said so. Anyway the owner had full details of our arrival time etc and the day before I emailed him to ask for how to get keys etc. Nothing, so we arrive at Manila and my wife texts him, nothing. She rings him and has a conversation, and so we head to the location. Alarm bells should have started ringing. Now despite having been in contact 30 minutes earlier, when we arrived at the location we could find nobody, we phoned, no answer, we phoned again and again and eventually a lady came to let us in. Now the photograph gives the impression of a nicely renovated flat, and the description gives the impression of a usable kitchen. Walking in, it was clear the place hadn't been renovated, it smelt of damp, the kitchen consisted of a single induction ring and a microwave, sink, kettle and fridge. The main reason we chose the place was because of the cooking facilities as my wife planned to make a meal for a number of her friends she had not seen in years. It was clearly inadequate. Really, the whole place was falling apart. The one couch was propped up in the middle by metal cans, many of the electrical outlets on the walls were hanging off, paint was peeling, the main bathroom sink stopper was useless. At least he seemed to take notice of the feedback and the electric shower was working. Both bedrooms had aircon, but the main living area didn't, just a pedestal fan which was broken and it couldn't be prevented from doing the arc sweep. The bed in the first bedroom is shocking, I have never slept in a bed like it, the mattress was way past its usefulness. Now the only reason we didn't walk out was trying to find somewhere else on a Friday in Manila. Our two children were not happy, they wanted to leave, I wanted to leave, my wife wanted to leave but we were tired from an early start and the thought of driving all over Manila with our cases to find somewhere else was not for her. On that, getting a taxi from there is very difficult because of where the flat is. There were no instructions about anything. Luckily the caretaker Edna was useful and did what she could, but overall there was absolutely...

  • I like the place. It's safe and sound. And there's Catholic Church within walking distance too.

Manang Lilia and Edna were very helpful on our first day of stay. They were also very welcoming. I like Edna much better because whenever we encountered her on the street, she would always answer with a smile and with proper directions.

    Thanks so much for everything.

  • My experience with Harold was excellent. As was my experience with his helper. the wifi was excellent . there was only hot water in one of the showers.. It was not noted that one of the showers/toilets was a "jack and Jill and the other was not by the bedrooms but off the kitchen area. The accommodations were comfortable yet not as pictured in the photos.. I was somewhat disappointed when I first entered the condo. the neighborhood was kind of run down. But easy walking distance to the main streets and taxis were easy to catch as well as jeeps and Pedi cabs. I didn't appreciate the roaches even the dead ones.. However, I understand they are very difficult if not impossible to control. I think that the curtain in the living room could be different to give more (website hidden) to learn where you are and that way it is very easy to explain to taxi drivers where you are going to get you home.
We were only about a 70 piso ride to the Harrison Plaza, which had a nice grocery store and other nice mall type stores. we also were not far from the Mall of Asia. the laundry people were great, however expect 2-3 day turn around for laundry. For small items Mercury Drug Store is just across the street. All in all our stay was good, we were there 15 days.

  • Our stay at the 2 Bedroom/ 2 Toilet and Bath.. ALL IN! was just okay! Harold was sensitive to our needs. He even granted our early check in, since we arrived at an early hour in Manila before our supposed to be check in time. Nang Lelia was there to assist us. Although the heater of the shower was not functioning, it was just okay because Manila is very hot on these days. The price was just right. And overall all, our stay was just satisfactory!

  • Three of us stayed in Harold's 2 bedroom/2 bath place. Good for price. The place was big enough for the 3 of us. Air con in both rooms was a big plus. Everything was clean. The hosts live right upstairs, so if anything is needed you can find them there.

Wifi was included, but the phone lines went down after our 2nd day there. Was apparently the phone company's issue so nothing they can really do about it. Hot water heater didn't work, not a big deal since it is so hot in Manila anyway. The one thing that bothered us the most was that there were a few cockroaches throughout our stay. Also, taxis do not know where the place is, making it difficult to tell taxis where to go. We ended up telling them a more known street a block away. Last thing that we didn't like was that you get no natural lighting in the place at all.

All in all, it (email hidden) to stay. Probably wouldn't go back again because of location and cockroaches.

  • Stayed at Harold's apartment (Sebastian Residences), with my partner and our six year old daughter late in March.

Good aspects of the apartment were:

    Air con's in both bedrooms
Double sized beds in each room
    Good sized closet spaces
Easy access to local wet market, food vendors, convenience stores, restaurants etc
Very easy to walk around the local area and feel safe during the day and nights
Great spot to reach Jeepneys, Tricycles, Buses and Taxis
Quiet street in a safe and friendly neighbourhood
Good fridge - also dishes and cutlery supplied (dish manager was great to keep dishes hygienic)
Hot plate worked really well for cooking
Well secured doors and front gate of the building
Good floor size /building space, never felt cramped in

    Other:

Wifi did not work well - constantly dropped connection, or unable to connect due to network congestion
Laundry area brought in a lot of mosquitos when ever we opened it's door, so were unable to do our own clothes washing, or allow fresh air to flow in through the main living area from the back door to front security door
Main living/kitchen/dining area has an electric fan, although left us feeling warm and humid - running the air con's with bedroom doors open seemed to help a little.
Very dark interior during the day due to lack of windows to let in sunlight

Bathrooms - shower from hot water worked in one, and toilets were good too, though was advised not to flush any used toilet paper but throw it in waste bins instead. Really need to add curtains to those bathroom windows too, or block them out entirely

Lots of potential to improve the apartment by renovating it! However, good unit for the price, considering the location. The place isn't a hotel, condo etc - don't expect luxuries or comfort level of those kinds of apartments, just a standard unit as it is to sleep in and best to spend time out during days and early evenings.

Many thanks to Harold, Lilia and Edna - very best wishes

  • My husband, 3 older children and I had a really good time at Harold's. The apartment was comfortable and easy to live in. There was one hot water heater in one of the bathrooms, but it didn't work. That was the only glitch, and not a big deal. Cool showers in a hot climate are fine. The ACs were powerful, the kitchen easy to cook in, and plenty of food nearby. Harold's caretaker upstairs was very attentive and helpful. Highly recommended.

  • Very nice, clean place! Well located and close to Vito Cruz LRT. The apartment was very secure with many locks. The caretaker lady was very kind and responsive. Didn't get to meet Harold but he was very responsive too when any issues arose. Harold sends great directions to his place but I don't know what it is about Manila taxi drivers as they are hopeless at finding address and I was taken to the next street. Nothing to do with Harold but for any future guests best to use the GoodtoGo supermarket as a landmark as it at the end of Harold's street. I can definitely recommend Harold's place and it is great value if there are 2 couples as it has en-suite shower and toilet in one room and another shower. Wifi wasgreat too!Thumbs up!
