Interaction with Guests

Rental is located at the end of a path inside a rice field of solitude. With nothing but nature in sight, it’s an ideal place to think, listen and change your pace. Retreat from reality altogether or stay connected by checking your emails on our outdoor patio while butterflies and dragonflies buzz by. Cool off in our pool or just catch a few rays. Explore the garden where we have pineapple, avocado, mango, papaya, cucumber, basil and sunflowers growing throughout the property.

Guests have a separate, private entrance into the studio with en suite bathroom and queen size bed. Guest quarters feature 2-small gardens, private out-door shower, western toilet and bidet.

Daily cleaning service and thick, soft bath and pool towels are provided. (Let us make your bed - you're on holiday!)

Our new queen size bed measures 160 cm x 200 cm with soft, fluffy pillows and fresh cotton sheets. Sliding doors open into a small sitting garden with night lighting. We created the studio/apt room with lots of natural light and air. It’s the perfect place to relax and dream.

The Neighborhood

The spacious en suite bathroom features a large skylight and decorative reproductions of Indonesian sculptures. There’s even an actual window from a Javanese Joglo. The large outdoor shower features modern fixtures including an oversized rain shower showerhead with hot and cold water.

Shared modern western kitchen has all the equipment you need to prepare anything you desire. You can utilize the convection bake oven, 4-burner stove and full refrigerator or relax and allow us to cook for you. The living room and dining room have floor to ceiling glass doors and windows that all open to the pool and stunning views. Savor an amazing meal on the patio under an umbrella while you take in the view. Our staff makes the best banana pancakes in ALL of Bali!

The Villa is just a scenic 8-minute ride to center of Ubud. If you want to go exploring on your own we have motorbikes available to rent. Our staff will take care of all the arrangements and give you a free ride on our bike into town so you know the way home. Please plan to take advantage of this between 8:30 and 10 am so you can make the most of your day.

If you prefer, you can hire the villa’s car with driver. (Pricing is flexible depending on your needs). We can help guide you to the best spa, the most-affordable (and luxurious) massage, meals with a view and non-tourist attractions. Your host has been in Bali for over 14 years so he knows where all the secret spots are that have yet to be discovered by tourists.

He is a textile and garment designer and he can also guide you to batik workshops, organic textile manufacturers, textile markets, wholesale fabrics and silk painters.

In addition, he can help you plan a day of touring to the mountains or a day snorkeling.

At the end of your day the restful sound of the waterfalls in the koi pond will soothe you upon your return.
Come relax and recharge and experience the most tranquil private spot in Bali..

The host is usually on hand to greet you and will happily provide lively conversation and advice. There are no other guests on the property and the host lives across the garden in a separate master suite.

  • Staying at Scott's house was wonderful. He is a very fun person and easy to get around with. The house is truly beautiful and neatly clean - it was an absolute pleasure staying there and seizing Ubud.

Even though it's not located in the center and I didn't have a motorbike, his staff was always willing to drop me off in the center and Scott offered to pick me up in the evening a couple of times. He went one day with me to see the rice terraces of Ubud - which was stunning to see and then brought me to a restaurant where I had the best orange cake e-v-e-r.

  • Just lovely. As my first airbnb experience, I was looking for a place (email hidden) where I would feel comfortable and safe. And I am happy to say, this exceeded all expectations! Steve is a very accommodating host (and just a fun-loving, friendly guy). The room is spacious and wonderfully well-furnished (just like the rest of his house. Side note: The teak roof is gorgeously constructed and is definitely my favorite architectural detail. If you do stay with him, definitely ask him all about it.)

I really appreciate how he pays attention to the little things that make all the difference, such as providing me with guidebooks and magazines of Bali, putting fresh towels and amenities into the bathroom, asking if I would like to have breakfast, seeing if I needed a motorbike ride into town.

In terms of location, the villa is just a short bike ride from the main Ubud market. It is close to Jalan Penestanan, which has some great organic cafes and restaurants (which were introduced to me by Steve actually...) Renting a scooter - or catching a ride with Wayan - would be the best way to go.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time staying here and my only regret is that I did not jump into the pool - for next time! :)

  • Amaizing house in the middle of the rice fields, surrounded by greens, peace and a beautiful atmosphere. Steve made me feel at home, really sweet, funny and very helpfull whenever I needed something. The pool and the outdoor shower where my favorite spots. Love the area quiet and peacefull, but still very near of central Ubud. I widely recommend this place! Thank you Steve for everything! Lots of love, Namaste.

  • I stayed with Steve for seven nights total and had a great time. Steve was a gracious and thoughtful host throughout my stay. From the first inquiry, he very promptly responded to my questions and arranged an airport pick-up for my arrival at Denpasar. During my stay, he or his valet, Wayan, would more often than not give me a ride into the center of Ubud, and he invited me to dinner with him and his friends a couple of times. When I left, he was kind enough to drive me in his own car to my shuttle pick-up at Cafe Vespa.

The room was very comfortable and tidied up every day. The A/C, ceiling fan, semi-outdoor shower and bathroom worked perfectly. The extras were nice and thoughtful: free drinking water, a flashlight, umbrella, and local guidebook / map.

Over all, it's a picturesque getaway outside the center of Ubud in the middle of the fields so it's nice and peaceful, but close enough to get to the nightlife, activities, and shopping when you want.

  • A RARE FIND IN UBUD!

I am so happy I found Steve and his little secluded paradise. His property is a 10 minute scooter drive from downtown ubud and situated in a very quiet and serene spot (rare for ubud these days...).

The photos don't do the place (enough) justice. The private room is very spacious and luxurious yet with authentic Balinese touches and has everything you could need (AC, desk, great shower, clothing rack etc). The rest of the house is beautiful as well with lots of greens and flowers, the pool, and amazing view of miles and miles of undisturbed rice paddies.

I am usually very private and like to keep to myself but Steve is so funny and friendly and hospitable that it was nice to hang out with him. I honestly have never had such an amazing host. Anything I needed he was more than willing to help me, we went to the beach and a movie, and he got out a big Happy Birthday banner on my birthday. Steve also checks in frequently to see if you got all you need. Wayan the housekeeper is sweet and loves to be in the kitchen preparing food for you.

I would come back to this place next time I'm in Bali and I would recommend it to (website hidden) option in this price range!
