Are your parents coming to town? They'll love this space -- high-end Victorian townhouse (no New York chippy paint here). Very spacious and clean.
You get private top floor of brownstone on tree-lined street and around the corner from park; huge guest room; private bath with tub and shower; laundry room/sitting room. This is two flights up, bright and sunny; with king-size bed (California king, so extra long). Very private, though shared entrance downstairs. Wireless Internet. No phone or TV or kitchen (although you have access to one in building). Air-conditioning.
See "Perfect for Parents, Part 1" for other space available in building, if you need more space (special rate if renting both).
My wife and I recently spent two nights.
Great place to stay. J. was very flexible with our checking in super early. Very clean, very large, and very historic. We had the whole third floor, and it was very peaceful. The bathtub is amazing.
Lots of great restaurants, right next to the Farmers Market.
Loved it all Will & Margo from Albuquerque
Attractive building and spacious room but lacking some basic amenities such as WIFI access and adequate hot water.
The level of comfort and privacy was wonderful and exceeded my expectations. If you are visiting somebody in Brooklyn, I cannot recommend a better place.
Excellent time in Brooklyn staying at J's, who is a very thoughtful and accommodating host. The house has great access to lots of treats such as Brooklyn Academy of Music, Flea Market and the exceptional Smorgasburg! Beautiful apartment, stylish decor, great shower and surprisingly peaceful. Nice and spacious for relaxation.
We were parents visiting our son in Fort Greene. And it was perfect.
J's brownstone is lovely, tastefully furnished and well appointed. It is filled with beautiful art and knick knacks.
Our son and his girlfriend live close by. Our needs were well met. We'd meet at the bottom of their or our stairs or at one of the great coffee shops nearby. And while we didn't spend much time at J.'s we certainly could have. I couldn't imagine a better place for us.
We will definitely be back.
J. was a wonderful host. She meet me very early and was a wonderful host. The place is beautiful and in a great location. Everything was super nice, loved the decor and it was very very clean...spotless! The bed was amazingly comfortable!!
Staying at J's was one of the best New York (Brooklyn) trips we've had. The house is beautiful and immaculate. Seriously. Very clean. You get the whole top floor and it's very private. The house feels like it was recently remodeled. Looked like it could have been straight out of an architectural magazine.
The neighborhood is incredibly charming. Brownstones line the block. Cafes and restaurants everywhere. Farmers market in the park. People in the area seemed uncharacteristically friendly for New York. It was very safe. Couldn't have felt more at home here. Tons of Subway lines within walking distance. It seemed like we could reach any part of the city without transferring. Took about 10-15 min to walk to the subways.
We left the windows open on the days it was nice. The neighborhood was quiet. Sometimes a loud truck but this was rare. A heatwave hit for the 2nd half of our trip but J has air conditioning so the apartment became a safe heaven from the heat.
Laundry was easy to do. Plenty of storage for clothes. Closet space. Honestly I can't say enough good things about the apartment.
J's house is beautiful with lots of character and charm. We stayed on the top floor. It had a comfy bed, a beautiful bathroom, and access to laundry facilities. It was fun to stay in Brooklyn with its brownstones and tree lined streets, and it was close to the subway for those Manhattan destinations. It was indeed "perfect"!
This is a lovely, well appointed, private space. Even though we entered it via the main stairway that wends through Jane's beautiful brownstone, we never had a sense that we had neighbors. Jane was a quiet host, succinct in her advice. She likely had much more to offer, but our trip was short and tightly scheduled. The side street where this home is located was quiet, and allowed for a good night's sleep, unlike some other places we've stayed in NYC. It was perfect for us, within blocks of a day's work, our son's apartment, good restaurants, and Brooklyn Academy of Music. All around, a great place- we hope we'll return to it in the future.
This lovely place is indeed perfect for parents. Mine stayed here (the top floor apt) for three nights and the place was beautiful--even more lovely than the photos; the apartment is impeccably restored--and spotless. It's an airy, top level of a picturesque brownstone right around the corner from Ft. Greene Park. Jay was more than accommodating, even offering my mother a cane to help her up the staircase.
