Charming home in the heart of San Francisco's Bernal Heights, voted America’s hottest neighborhood for 2014 and loved by San Franciscans. Professionally designed interior and landscaped garden with stunning views, delightful indoor & outdoor spaces.

The Space

∞ Known as Green Dreams Bernal Retreat the view from the bedroom is expansive while out the living room windows a strawberry tree described as the "stellar example in San Francisco" provides an embrace. Friendly neighborhood and quiet neighbors. The home is on a small residential quiet street and offers a peaceful retreat in this bustling, vibrant city.

∞ Winfield street is quintessential Bernal with its great access to the top of the hill park & the main shopping area of Cortland Avenue. Although you are in the heart of SF, you have privacy and the entire house to yourself.

∞ Ten well graded stairs to the front door with a handrail and to the garden level where you can hottub is thirteen well graded steps with handrail and another five steps with handrail to relax in the garden.

∞ A small color monitor in the bedroom with TV, DVD and video accessories. WIFI connection throughout the house and garden.

∞ Bernal is hilly and my home is on a small hill.

Guest Access

Guests have access to a house in a popular San Francisco neighborhood. This is an entire home, not an apartment with lots of outdoor space. A charming, private garden offers a backyard oasis with an outdoor hot tub and hot and cold shower. The garden is surrounded by lush and colorful plants ideal for clothing optional hot tubbing and showering. The garden includes a cozy settee and small dining table with folding canvas chairs. New double pane windows throughout with screens (unusual for San Francisco), skylights in the hall and kitchen and a bathroom atrium with succulent garden all give the home bright, natural light throughout. Non metered street parking, no neighborhood parking permits required and no street cleaning days.

House Spaces in Detail:
(1) The bedroom and adjacent rear deck offer stunning views of Twin Peaks, Noe Valley and Glen Park. Often the moon sets on the Twin Peaks horizon and you can watch the fog curl over the city. The deck includes a miniature tree garden, two comfortable cushioned chairs and coffee table. The bedroom has a small pull down desk and a unique library of garden, botanical and landscape books.

(2) Adjacent to the colorful kitchen is the dining area with a large window. In addition to a plethora of neighborhood restaurants guests have use of a full kitchen stocked with pots & pans, dishes, silverware, appliances including toaster oven, dishwasher, blender, espresso machine, oven and stove and herb cabinet including staples like olive oil and vinegars.

(3) The cozy living room with velvet couch for lounging with large windows across the front looking out to one of the prettiest Strawberry trees in the city.

(4) Remodeled bathroom with original mosaic tile and new composite stone countertop sink, shower and tub combined should you prefer indoor bathing.

Durning your stay I am easily accessible via cell phone, email or text. Your Welcome Packet includes information about the house, public transportation (buses, Bart, street cars and ferries). When you arrive a fruit basket awaits you, information sheet and a basket of maps and things to do in SF and Bay Area.

The Neighborhood

This wonderful house is close to shopping, restaurants, parks and transportation. From the house walk two blocks up to the Esmeralda/Bernal steps which lead to the famous 360 degree panoramic views from Bernal Hill Park. Walk five minutes to Cortland Street's charming neighborhood restaurants for dining, bookstore, shops, organic market, coffee/tea houses, live music, wine bar and infamous Wild Side West bar with pool table and lovely outside beer garden. Other Bernal parks within easy walking include Holly and Precita Park.

Getting around

Five minute walk down to Mission Street grocery store, pharmacy and drug store, gas station, many restaurants from sushi to tacqueria's, hardware store and post office. You will find nightlife nearby with several clubs for dancing and entertainment on Mission including El Rio, and The Marsh theater on Valencia Street. Great transit locale with the Mission bus just a five minute walk taking you to many connections, 10 minute walk to catch the J Church train which takes you downtown and the Embarcadero for shopping or ferries and 20 minute walk to 24th street Bart for transportation in the city, East Bay, to and from the airport and all over the Bay Area. If you are driving there is easy freeway access to the airport and Peninsula both on 101 and 280.

  • I can't say enough positive things about Jocelyn and her amazing flat. If you are thinking about staying here then don't think just book - you won't regret it! The flat is lovely and the hot tub tub and garden are great. Jocelyn even had some treats left for us like hummus & crackers and cherries! I also loved the area - some great local restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. To get into town we just hopped on the bus. I hope to stay here again one day. Jocelyn is just a star and will happily give you personalised recommendations of things to do.

  • Jocelyn's house is simply amazing. It is a lovely space - and there's so much attention to detail. And the views from the hot tub are superb. Everything you could need was there. The location is a wee bit out of town but has plenty of access to public transport. Jocelyn was a very attentive host and really went above and beyond. Thank you for your instructions, travel tips, and all the treats you left! I loved my stay in San Francisco - and staying here.

  • This space is absolutely amazing. It almost moves you to tears. Warning you may just want to enjoy the deck and hot tub each day and leave the site seeing for your next visit. But wow! Five stars all the way. Jocelyn was an amazing host. We so much enjoyed the little things she did for us and the communication was great!

Jason, Airbnb changed their review technique so I just received this after writing your review. I accomplished so little in Hawaii except swimming and eating papayas, but now home wanted to get a review off so I now see this. So glad you found it amazing, your review makes my heart leap as I just love it when others enjoy it here. Makes me feel so good. Thank you. JHC

  • Wow, where do I start!? Jocelyn's home was the perfect getaway for my husband Christopher and I. Her place was clean, pleasantly decorated and colorful, and all of her beautiful plants made us feel at home. I loved the sky lights in the kitchen! The garden in the back yard is gorgeous and we enjoyed her hot tub very much. The bed was firm, but very comfortable. The body pillow was a major bonus for me! :) The bathroom was very nicely decorated and super clean with soft towels! I felt love and passion in every little touch she made in her charming home. The neighborhood was very quiet and felt safe. We didn't want to leave!

Jocelyn was so helpful with her detailed instructions and suggestions for entertainment and was very quick to respond to any question I had. She is the sweetest Airbnb host I have ever communicated with and I hope to meet her in person someday. Next time we are in San Francisco we will definitely stay here again! Thank you Jocelyn for making our stay so wonderful!

  • Our stay at Green Dream was a bit like living in the Garden of Eden. Jocelyn is a very accomplished landscaper. Although her house is located in a very urban area, the house plants and backyard greenery gave an incredible sense of privacy and closeness to nature. The interior decorations include bold colors, wall murals, and whimsical animals. We cooked many of our dinners at the house and found the kitchen well equipped. The hot tub was a wonderful bonus after a long day of sightseeing. The location is within easy access to many fine restaurants, shops and transportation. We have no hesitancy recommending Green Dream to others.

  • This was our 4th stay at Green Dreams and it felt so good to be back! It has become our Home away from home! As before, Jocelyn was the perfect host. In addition to providing us with fresh fruit, milk, cheese and other treats she even left us blueberries--- my favorite breakfast food.
The gardens, the deck, the great views, the hot tub, the surrounding parks---we enjoyed it all!
Thank you, Jocelyn. We're looking forward to #5.

Thank you so much Diana, I appreciate your review and mostly glad you were so comfortable and enjoyed your stay (website hidden) and Chanuka around the corner and Alma and i are doing a two day overnight at the Montara Lighthouse Hostel with beach days and a walk in the Pescadero Marsh. I always enjoy having you and Tom at the house and know you are always welcome. Hope you (email hidden) and winter holidays. That time change they do really makes the afternoons disappear into night quickly. after work today in the North Bay I walekd out the Tennessee Valley Trail - not sure you know it - but it is a 1 plus mile out to the beach and easy to do in the dark. HEading out at dusk were coyotes and owls singing and then the ocean waves. Then on return just quiet. Guess everyone was out hunting. Very Best and warm wishes, Jocelyn

  • We found Jocelyn's place very comfortable, quiet and everything we needed for our four days in SF. Nice jacuzzi, great little garden and very serviceable kitchen. There was always room to park our rented Corolla. Jocelyn was very nice about check in/out and concerned for our comfort. Don't miss the shops pubs and eateries on Cortland. Nice neighborhood. We will certainly be back.

  • what at wonderful retreat! Clean, comfy, charming, and romantic home. The jaccuzi is in top form and its views, over the city and Jocelyn's beautiful trees and plants, are unforgettable.

Jocelyn is an ideal host, thoughtful and responsible, who goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and to ensure everything goes very smoothly. You can feel her generous and green spirit throughout her home.

We will definitely recommend her home to friends coming to San Francisco.

p.s., our only "issue" (to call it something) was that the fridge was completely full with her own food (some of which Jocelyn generously offered to us e.g., condiments, water, etc.) and the half shelf she emptied for us was not enough space for us to store our groceries for the week-long stay

  • We could not have been more happy with our stay at Green Dreams. Jocelyn was very prompt in responding throughout the booking process, and made sure to touch base with us by phone before our trip. Jocelyn was away during our entire stay, but she had made all arrangements for us to access her beautiful home in her absence, which was so wonderful after a long flight and arriving late on a holiday evening.

She had delicious fruit and snacks waiting for us in the kitchen, the home was clean and creatively decorated, with lots of helpful user instructions for how to get around both the home and the neighborhood. The comfy bed definitely gets 5 stars, and the view from the balcony off the bedroom gets a 10! And with such a beautiful garden in back (and a secluded hot tub to boot) its a wonder we even ventured out in the city with such a delightful space to stay.

The home is in a charming residential neighborhood, on a classic SF hill. A great mix of rest & retreat while still having the city at our fingertips. Our best brunch was at a local spot, but the bus to the Mission and downtown were easily accessible at the base of the hill.

A wonderfully inspiring vacation rental in a beautiful city. We loved it.

  • The Green Dreams Retreat was aptly named, my lover and I truly felt as if we'd retreated into a world of dreams. The space is incredible, unique, and clean. You can tell from the home that Jocelyn is an arborist, having so many plants inside and in the garden was lovely. I felt so close to nature, with all the comforts of a solid home. The hot tub was just as romantic as expected, and meals on the upper deck garden offered breathtaking views. Jocelyn was accommodating and kind, even via phone. Upon arrival, we found an adorably arranged tray of organic snacks, a fun movie, and the necessary coffee & tea. She went above and beyond what is expected of a host. I'll be saving the handwritten post card Jocelyn left us, and I will definitely be checking the availability at Green Dreams for any of my future SF trips! I highly recommend this experience to any of my respectful nature loving fellow travelers!
