I've been renting this apartment for over 5 years, it's a great find so book quickly. Special winter rates available.
It is a zen space because it is quiet, sunny and simple. It is smack - right in the middle of a GREAT street and neighborhood, a perfect place to relax after your New York adventures, and you have the whole place to yourself. Check out the 'street view' to see the sculpture garden just across the street.
I am a New York artist and teacher, I have a couple of pieces of art in the apartment. Your booking this apartment directly supports the arts.
Studio with built-in kitchen. The apartment is in a historic tenement building, and is fully renovated, clean and very sunny and has red floors. It still has the original working (extremely comfortable) bathtub in the kitchen! No shower, just baths or use the hose in the tub.
Includes queen bed, day bed, A/C, stove, small fridge, oven, FREE WIFI internet connection (for your laptop) and lots of space. It is a 5 floor walk up (no elevator), and very quiet. You can see the New Museum from the window and plenty of sky.

Sleeps 1, 2 or 3.. behaved children. No pets, no smoking, no TV in the flat.
I live close by in the East Village. If you're interested for a city guide, or bicycle tour of the city I would be glad to spend my time with you, when I have some, and show you the highlights of the city or escort you to some destinations. I am a member of MoMA, PS1, and Dixon Place Theatre.
About the neighborhood...
Elizabeth Street is in the NoLita (North of Little Italy) area, and has plenty of unique shopping, restaurants nice bars. My favorite restaurants include Cafe Gitane (hangout for models, artists, and great food and excellent coffee), and Cafe Habana feet away from our front door.
The original St. Patricks Church is right across from Cafe Gitane. (Featured in the film Gangs of New York by Martin Scorsese). Try to see this film before arriving - you will recognize some of the buildings! There is also the Tenement Museum close by. It focuses on America's urban immigrant history, and is a wild look into how people lived and worked in New York in the turn of the century.
The apartment is on a beautiful street, very close to the Bowery, East Village, SoHo, Chinatown, and has many subways in a few blocks including the B,D,F,V to Broadway-Lafayette | 6 to Spring St. | J,M to Bowery. It is very easy to get uptown and to Brooklyn. You can walk over the Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridge too, just about 1/2 an hour stroll away.
Close to the Broadway/Lafayette subway station and Spring Street no. 6 train in Manhattan. Plenty of shopping and restaurants, a 5 minute walk to Chinatown, SoHo, Lower East Side.
Thank you for looking! - Joseph
Joseph's apartment was sunny, quiet, and very comfortable. We slept so well! Also, the location is absolutely ideal if you enjoy great food, good art, and interesting boutiques.
Joseph was very warm and welcoming, and was really easy to get in touch with when we had questions (or needed restaurant recommends!) He's also a really talented artist.
We'll definitely be back.
This is a great apartment in a great location. Host Joseph is a very kind person and was very helpful and available to answer a heap of my inquiries from where to get a good coffee to the location of the nearest swimming pool! The apartment is located in what is a very happening part of Manhattan. There are loads of old established and iconic eateries as well as the new wave of fashion designers, cafes, etc. It was a great spot for me to start my NYC adventure!
I stayed at joseh's lovey 'roomy' apt for three nights in march. I would not hesitate to visit again in a few months but I will certainly bring my sweetie, he would love it! Very clean, unique artistic details, super cozy and quiet, a great bed, lots of light and a fantastic location above an incredible barber shop. Lots of cafes, galleries, boutiques, with chinatown and little italy just steps away. Very cool!
While visiting my daughter in college I stayed at Joseph's apartment. It was very convenient and the surrounding neighborhood was great!
I can wholeheartedly recommend Joseph's lovely flat! The location is superb and all communication with Joseph (and his lovely friend who welcomed us) was great. The flat is spacious, clean and features cool artwork. The bathtub is an experience for itself which I enjoyed a lot. Perfect place for anyone that likes cozy, colours and a relaxed atmosphere in wonderful surroundings.
We enjoyed our stay at Joseph's. The apartment is as photographed and the location is brilliant. We'll be back!
Had a perfect stay at Zen Home! Such a warm welcome from Joseph and the appartment is definitely the best place to stay in Manhattan. Nicely equipped appartment, beautifully furnished and located in one of the nicest neighborhoods in town! Definitely will come again!
Joseph's place is really cute, and in a perfect location!
It was super warm during our winter visit : )
Joseph is very nice, he met us on arrival and walked us through everything. He was also flexible with our check out time.
We had a great stay at Joseph´s - the location is brilliant if you want to have easy access to the best of what New York has to offer and the space worked well for us!
Joseph's apartment is perfect for a New York stay. The location is absolutely ideal; very close on great transport links an perfectly located between the East and West village. The street it's on is lined with amazing restaurants.
The flat itself is great; nicely decorated with a real downtown charm. Joseph is an excellent host. A great communicator and very welcoming and accommodating. I'd happily say again.
