Walking to distance to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island with New York City Skyline.
Located in the up and coming Lafayette neighborhood, you are invited to enjoy the first floor of a hundred plus year old brownstone that has been completely renovated and wraps you in old world charm.
This is NOT a shared space. You will have complete privacy in your own private apartment.
The rooms are large, spacious, and airy. The kitchen is modern and is fully supplied with dishes and cookware, with a gas range, stainless steel refrigerator, granite counter top, and large dinning table. The bathroom is tastefully designed; complete with full sized bathtub and quality shower heads. Fresh linens and towels are included. Rest peacefully on a queen sized foam mattress bed. There is one very large closet and a one smaller one that is sure to accommodate your storage needs.
In the evenings, you can relax on a patio and enjoy a cigar, a glass of wine, or just the tranquility and fresh air. The living room has a large (full size) sitting area that can easily convert to a bed if needed. Of course, there is satellite television, high speed wireless internet, and the use of a washer and dryer included, as well as separate entrances to front and back of house. If you have a car, there is also EASY street parking.
You are convenient to everything. Manhattan in less than a half hour by convenient public transportation and barely 10 minutes by car. 1/2 mile from historic downtown Jersey City with trendy restaurants, bars, and shops abound; a sprawling and popular beer garden; and the Grove St. PATH station. From Grove St., take the PATH subway to Manhattan – six minutes to the World Trade Center stop or 15-25 minutes to Greenwich Village and on up to midtown. (From the apartment, it's a matter of crossing the street to the bus and eight-minute walk to the light rail, both of which bring you to downtown Jersey City.) Just a ten-minute walk to gorgeous Liberty State Park on the Hudson River – miles of cycling and jogging trails, nature center, playground, barbecue areas, and the ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty where you will remember the astounding views of Manhattan and Lady Liberty.
While there are several NYC style “Bodegas” from which to pick up a few food items, there is also grocery delivery available from (website hidden). We live and work in Jersey City and love the location of this property because of its convenience and are happy to give you guidance on where to go and what to do. We also live in the upstairs portion of the house.

Perfect Home near to Manhattan , NY. Very quiet and wonderful neighborhood. Charlaine is very good host and take care about everything. She accommodate our request as and when needed and very helpful during our stay. Communication before and during the stay is very good and likely to visit again as and when needed.
When we came to Jersey city I didn't expect anything. Charlaine proved to be a great host and was readily prepared for any help she could offer.
The neighbourhood is all right, me and my wife, we never felt scared or anything and nothing special happened during our stay there.
The place we stayed in was clean and we were happy for a washing machine and a dryer at our disposal.
The only thing that bothered me later on is the fact that we had to change 3 different public transportation options (bus + train + subway) to get downtowm Manhattan. And it takes about 30 to 45 minutes to get there. Since there is only a limited bus route (6L) going through Pacific Avenue, we were (on holidays) forced to walk to the nearest PATH station in Grove St (about 20 minutes walking).
So, frankly, it is not couple of minutes from Manhattan, but more or less couple of tens of minutes.
All and all, we were satisfied with our stay and thank Charlaine for her hospitality.
I am happy you enjoyed your stay. It is expected to switch back and forth with public transportations in a City such as NYC, it is "the lifestyle". There are other options besides public transportations which is also more expensive. I trully enjoyed hosting you and your wife. Just one negative, we did communicated about check-in time way in advance and you managed to ring my doorbell at 8am to drop off you luggages and view the apartment which was not apartment of our arrangement and did the same at check-out.
Best of luck to you.
We had a really fantastic time in New York/Jersey and what made this so special was the very warm welcome of our host Charlaine and her daughter Andrea and of course the cat Mr Cuddles of which we are so glad you got him back and karma will play a part somewhere. The flat made us feel right at home and was exactly as described and such a lovely touch of muffins and a scented candle when we arrived of which i'm afraid we eat them all..the muffins not the candle. We also loved the area and if your not afraid of a walk everything is within easy reach of the big apple. All in all first class...
Charlaine was an amazing host. The apartment was perfect for what my girlfriend and I needed and very clean. Charlaine was very helpful with letting us know how to get around the city and recommended us with places to eat and go. She even had a fridge with milk and orange juice as well as muffins awaiting us when we arrived. Next time we make it back to NYC we will definitely stay with her again.
We stayed in this apartment for 9 nights and everything was perfect :)
The residence is complete with all services, including washing machine, dryer, iron, etc., nothing is missing !!
The station "path" is closer to 20-25 minutes walk (or 6/7 $ for taxi) and another 20 minutes you are in manhattan !!
The neighborhood is quiet and there is a small supermarket in front of the house,
Charlaine was also very hospitable and helpful in times of need;)
Council listing for those wishing to stay near manhattan, given the prices they ask in the big apple!
Our time at Charlaines apartment was amazing. We felt right at home and the space was perfect for our stay. The apartment was equipt with everything we needed for a long week stay in NY. It was only a 15 min walk to the PATH train which took you to anywhere in NYC and runs 24/7. If your coming home late there are taxis waiting and is only a 7$ ride. A big highlight was the view from liberty park a 10 minute walk away it was incredible and at sunrise even better. Charlaine was very helpful and a perfect host. We recommend this BnB apartment for anyone who is looking in the NYC area. We had no problems going back and forth from Jersy City.
Our 5 day stay at Charlain's place was perfect for us. She is really helpfull and communication with her was anytime without problems.
The big advantage is that you get your own little Flat with full equipment (iron, hairdryer, kitchen,...) for 4 people (2 couples) or in our situation for 2 tall guys who wanted an own bed each.
You also get your own entrance from outside.
It's locationin in Jersey City is a 10-15 min. walk or short busride from the PATH Train (which brings you directly to manhattan) away. So you find a almost quiet area for your sleep away from downtown.
The view from Jersey City to Manhattan is really great, day or night. Try the Hudson-Seaside-View at Exchange-Station. You will love it.
In the evening, after a long day with walking many miles through Manhattan , we always took a Taxi from the Path-Station Groove-Street back to the flat. It's just 6 Dollar and for us it was worth it.
If you have a Car you can leave it in front of the house at no costs.
For my son and myself it was really nice to stay there and we can recommend Charlain as Host and her Flat for a stay.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read about me. My family and I have been living in New Jersey, Jersey City for over a decade now and we cannot think of a better place to be. I too love to travel and have been all over Europe, Asia and Africa. My favorite place that I have visited is Tahiti…it just felt like heaven to me. I am a city girl and just love the idea that I live so close to Manhattan and I can be at the theatre in less than 20 minutes.
