If you cannot afford the beach, come to the forest. This is a beautiful space, very private and quiet. We are right on a wooded gulch with lots of fruit trees. So the song birds love the area. I am a landscaper so the area is filled with flowering plants, inside and out.
The space that is a one bedroom one bath with a private entrance and patio in my home. It is set up like a "Bed and Breakfast" but you supply your own food. You have full use of the Kitchen, living room and dining area but it is shared with only one other person--me.
It is fully equipped with everything you can think of including beach towels, chairs, mats and hair dryer. There is wireless internet service throughout.
There is a balcony overlooking the jungle and a nice outdoor patio, both perfect for dining or just listening to the birds. It is a beautiful spot. Everyone who stays here loves it and often asks to return.
It is centrally located, close to two outstanding beach parks--Poipu and Salt Ponds. One is good for wading and easy swimming, the other has surfing and snorkeling. We are also very close to a beautiful 9-hole golf course. The town, a mile away, has restaurants, shops, convenience stores, medical and dental facilities.
As much as they want. I am a great resource for local information
Friendly, warm, quiet and peaceful residential area. Great location for getting to all parts of the Island.

My stay at Maureen's place was a good experience. The location is very quiet and in an attractive setting. Maureen was not there when I arrived, but she had friends stay at the house while I was there. They were a very nice couple and made me very much at home in Kaua'i. Thanks Maureen for sharing your'e home.
Maureen was a lovely host. She made sure we made ourselves feel at home, gave us recommendations and most importantly coffee!
The location is in a safe neighborhood with some nice views and great central placement to explore the island.
Thank you Maureen for a wonderful stay.
We had a great time staying with Maureen. The location is fantastic, only a few minutes from the main island highway, quite close to Poipu and most south coast attractions. The neighborhood is very safe, beautifully kept up, and full of (well groomed) trees, with a bit of elevation for cool evening breezes. It's pretty quiet too, except for the birds. We also had a dedicated parking spot right in front of her home.
The room is beautifully decorated and very thoughtfully laid out, with a very comfortable bed and plenty of closet space. In addition, Maureen kindly gave us access to a portion of her fridge and kitchen, and washer/dryer. The room and bathroom were all really clean.
Do be aware that due to the high cost of electricity on Kauai, there is virtually no residential A/C anywhere (apparently, this is the case even for some multi-million dollar north shore homes). But we were perfectly comfortable with using the ceiling fans for cooling.
Maureen is a fabulous host. She's a long time resident with an adventurous spirit, so she gave us good tips and we had great conversations on lots of topics. She also introduced us to some of her friends, who were wonderful and gracious people as well.
Maureen was very friendly and the room was warm an clean. We could use her kitchen and also her beach chairs, that was really nice. We enjoyed our stay there very much!
A magical experience, on a beautiful island, in a welcoming home, by an amazing human being! Words are not enough to express my feelings of gratitude! Thank You!!
We enjoyed our stay at Maureen's south Kauai home. Maureen is a pleasant and helpful host, generous in sharing her home. The bedroom and private bath give enough privacy to be comfortable with the added bonus of a little patio area filled with plants. The condo complex is well maintained and filled with beautiful plants especially around Maureen's place.
The location is good, close to the poipu beach area and not far from Waimea canyon with plenty of good places to eat near by.
Maureen's condo was a great place to stay in Kauai. It was exceedingly quiet and surrounded by lovely plants and trees. We had a room at the front near the entrance and a private bathroom. We also made use of a beautiful lanai for some of our meals. It was a real treat to eat outside! Maureen was very open about letting us cook meals and gave us our own shelf in the refrigerator and in the pantry. She gave us good advice on our travels and made us feel safe and comfortable in her home.
Although Maureen was not with us for all of our stay we found her to be helpful and friendly. The accommodation was of a good standard and its position allowed us to easily explore the south of the island. The neighbourhood was very safe.We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
We had a great time in a beautiful and peaceful location. Maureen's abode allowed us to come and go on our own schedule, but we were also able to visit with her and make a new friend. She is a knowledgeable and honest ambassador for the tropical paradise that is Kauai.
Although I wasn't able to play golf on this visit to Kauai, Kukuiolono Park and Golf Course is just down the road. With a daily rate of just $9, you can't beat the rate. While not a groomed resort course, it provides some of the best ocean views on the island. Be sure to pick up some chicken feed at the pro shop. The chickens are beautiful (for chickens) and very entertaining.
Just a short distance away, Kalaheo has two stellar restaurants we tried for the first time. Kalaheo Cafe and Coffee Company has great Banana Mac Nut pancakes, and Kalaheo Steak and Ribs make a delicious prime rib.
We are looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Maureen!
We stayed with Maureen for 9 nights over the Christmas Holiday in 2012 and left on New Year's Day 2013. Our primary requirement when searching for a property was that it had a private room, bathroom, entrance, and most of all - access to a kitchen. Since both my boyfriend and I travel often for work, we really enjoy cooking at home as it's often healthier, more cost-effective, and tastier! We were very pleased with Maureen's well-stocked kitchen and our private room / bathroom / patio. As to location, we fell in love with Kalaheo on the sunny side of the island, high up in the trees! Though we did not meet Maureen in-person, she was super friendly, helpful, organized, succinct, and professional to interact with via email. Her friend Diana welcomed us and answered any questions we had during our stay. We would happily return for this relaxing, tidy, and cost-effective space.
