Bolungarvik is a small and quiet fishers village next to the Arctic circle with 930 inhabitants. It lies 15 km next to Isafjördur with its domestic airport.
You will enjoy your stay in Bolungarvik if you like: northern lights, snow, fishing, calmness, adventure, creativity, hot pots, heavy storms, hiking, swimming, skiing and good fish.
Our comfortable house (118 sqm) is full of natural light, the rooms are all on the ground level. It is a two bedroom house, under floor heating, modern furniture, a bathroom, an open kitchen with living room and Internet included. Behind the house there is a garden and a little terrace. Up to 5 people can stay there. There is an extra folding bed for kids available.
Out from the kitchen you see the fjord and Hornstrandir. You walk 150 meters to the sea. There is a supermarket in the village and in walking distance to our house. There is always the opportunity to take the shuttle bus to and from Isafjödur.
Just feel home and enjoy.
Bolungarvik has a very good infrastrucutre. It has: a swimming pool wtih hotpot, sportshouse, school, musicschool, supermarket, museum with an icebear, hiking trails, skilifts in winter, a beach, docotor´s house, bank and postoffice.
If you come by plain, just take the shuttlebus direct to our home. If you come driving use the parking place in front of the house.
Such a great time at iris's house! The house is bright and comfy. We spent several nighthawk there and really enjoyed Bolungarvik and isaforther. Highly recommend!
This bungalow is very well located in the magnificent village of Bolungarvík. The house itself is nice with stunning view from all the windows. The owner is well organized and was very easy to deal with.
While we found the house a little bit dusty when we arrived, we would recommend it anytime.
We *loved* staying at this house in the Westfjords. The first thing I noticed when I walked in are views of the ocean from both the front and back windows. The house actually felt brighter than it looks in several of the pictures, though this would vary depending on the day and season of course.
We were there in the summer and the road up to Mt. Bolafjall was open. You can hike or drive up it, and the view from the top is amazing. There are other neat hikes and walks in town (though beware the tern nesting near the maritime museum) and lots more to do in Isafjördur, including great places to eat.
The house itself s wonderful. Great blackout shades in the bedrooms, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean, and possibly the best rental house kitchen I've ever used. Iris was helpful and responsive with all of our questions. Highly recommended!
We loved this house! Lots of space, everything we needed was there, fresh, comfortable, nice rooms with good beds. Our daughter lover her own room ;-). Friendly and helpful housekeeper. A place to come back! Good value for your money.
Very comfortable house, in a quiet, beautifull and interesting environment. Great view from both - the front and back - windows!! Nice place to relax after a long walk through the country side.
Nice place to stay at the Westfjords.
Cozy and tidy house, you have everything you need there.
Although Iris wasn't there, everything was well organized.
We arrived later than expected in Bolungarvik but getting the keys was very easy and Iris' family was extremely helpful and friendly. The house is very nice and we were very comfortable there with another couple and two young babies. We had a little trouble figuring out the washer/dryer and stove, but I think it's just a bit different from American style appliances - I would recommend leaving an instruction sheet for guests. Over all, we would stay here again in this beautiful part of Iceland and the whole experience was friendly, smooth, and easy.
