I do not live in the property but I am an email/call away if they need help and my housekeeper is there everyday during their stay to clean the house (and for extra 15 dollars per day can also cook for you)

The neighborhood

Ixtapa is located on the Pacific coast of Mexico, between Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. It sits facing west on a beautiful bay, close to the Zihuatanejo town (where the locals live) and a 30-minute ride from the airport. It was developed in the ‘70s in a well-planned manner, so it is not at all big or crowded like Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta. Its atmosphere is casual, relaxed and sporty (famous triathlon happens in May) and people are nice and helpful. Tourists include families, couples and honeymooners, mostly Mexicans but gradually more Ameri- cans and Canadians are discovering this beautiful place (due to various convenient direct flights from the US)

What To Do
Besides relaxing, swimming, strolling at the beach and enjoying the most gorgeous sunsets, Ixtapa has all kinds of aquatic sports: sailing, fishing, scuba, skiing, parasailing, as well as 2 golf courses. some jungle activities and a ‘swimming with dolphins’ center.
Ixtapa has a whole range of restaurants, from casual to fine dining. Authentic Mexican food and seafood are excellent along with multiple other cuisine options like Italian, Japanese, International and French. There are a few clubs, and good options for shopping; yet Ixtapa is not overly developed or crowded.
Nearby is Zihuatanejo, where the famous Casa que Canta Hotel, restaurant and spa is located (featured in “Travel & Leisure” as one of the top boutique hotels in the world). Also, there is plenty of shopping (crafts, silver, seashells, etc) in the old part of town and along the Playa de las Gatas promenade. For excellent seafood (lunch or dinner), La Perla restaurant in Playa de la Ropa, has wooden tables on a beautiful sandy beach. Any destination in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo can be reached by taxi (fares are fixed).
Average 300 sunny days a year, tropical weather year-round: dry season in Spring, rainy season in the Summer (sporadic rains, mostly at night).

Getting around

Multiple daily flights from Mexico City to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (ZIH) with Aeromexico, Click, and Mexicana (average round trip approximately $120)
Direct flights from the US from Houston, San Francisco, Dallas, Los Angeles, Denver and Phoenix (fares start at $300 and up according to the season).

I am originally from Mexico and grew up going to the beach all the time. Mexico has the best beaches at the best value near the US.
I like traveling to beautiful places and meeting interesting cultures while staying in down to earth but clean and pretty place. I hate resorts. ;-)
I now live in New York and work as a designer.
