Sunny, calm room in Victorian home

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Quincy St, Brooklyn, NY 11216, United States

The Space

The House & Its Location:

Our house is located at the intersection of the Historic Districts of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Clinton Hill, in vibrant, artistic, and diverse Brooklyn, famous for its history and architecture. Our charming rooms are located on the fourth floor of our 19th century Victorian home with all its original detail. A lovely accommodation, it features two comfortable, spacious, furnished private rooms -- one of which is listed here. (If you wish to book the two rooms at once, please find "Charming Rooms in Victorian Home" on Airbnb.)

The Room:

Each room has a full-sized bed, dresser, bedside tables, large closet, original detail, and abundant light. Fresh towels and bed linens will welcome you. The bath and kitchenette (microwave oven, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and dishware), located on the same floor, are shared with guests from the other room.

A quick subway ride will put you in downtown or midtown Manhattan in fifteen-to-thirty minutes. We are only a twenty-minute walk to Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum, the Botanic Garden, the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, the trendy Park Slope neighborhood, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music; and less than two miles away from downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights. We are also close to Fort Greene and Williamsburg, and a few blocks away from the Pratt Institute and St Joseph's College. We are easily accessible to either the JFK or LaGuardia airports. The G, A, and C subway lines, and a number of local buses are readily available. Restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and the Atlantic Terminal Mall are also nearby.

The Amenities:

Free Wi-fi. Breakfast is not provided, though you are welcome to use the kitchenette to fix something yourself. Also, given the age and size of our house, corridors and bathrooms can be drafty during the winter months. Close the door to your room, however, and you can create as toasty of an environment as you wish, using the energy-efficient space heaters provided. One other thing: This is a no-shoe house. We leave our shoes at the entrance. So, especially in the winter, you may want to bring a nice pair of slippers or thick socks. There is AC available during summer months. Last but not least: Laundry service (wash, dry, and fold) is available for $10 per load. Just ask. :-)

Update: We now have 2 kittens at home.

  • I had a very pleasant stay in the family home of Mary. It was a very welcoming host who has a very endearing family. I was alone to visit New York for a month and Mary was very active, like a mother to me! She cooked me little flat and organized my birthday party! I enjoyed my room and this pretty quiet house. I highly recommend this place for a short or long stay.

  • The room is nice and spacious. Mary is very welcoming, she even made us a Christmas meal to taste. You have a small kitchenette at your disposal, which is very handy. The neighborhood is calm, the metro is a 10min walk, but you are straight on the Manhattan line.

  • Had a very good time at Mary's house, we even had a homemade cake waiting for us at our arrival... Great!

  • We had a great stay in Brooklyn at Mary's place on Quincy. Her house is in the middle of the upcoming Bed-Stuy, with trendy but reasonable cafes and restaurants all around and within walking distance to Brooklyn Heights and the Brooklyn Bridge Park. It's near three metro stops on two lines. The room is clean, quiet and tastefully decorated, with a comfortable bed and access to a kitchenette. Mary offered us fresh baked banana bread upon arrival and filtered water throughout our stay. She is a helpful and thoughtful host. We would recommend her place without reservation.

  • Mary's home is gigantic! We met our host and were escorted straight to the top floor up two flights of stairs. The room in which we stayed was spacious and the bed very comfortable for four nights. We shared the bathroom and kitchenette with another AirBnB couple who were very pleasant and private. We tried our best to remain quiet and aloof in Mary's home as we were aware that she had a young son as well as other guests.
After our first meeting, we didn't see Mary again but she was helpful, kind and welcoming. On arrival we recieved a homemade fruit loaf to share and the filtered water was kept refreshed for us in the kitchen. The bathroom was well stocked and spacious.
Quincy street was perfectly located only streets from several subway stations into Manhattan, a short drive from hipster areas of DUMBO and Williamsberg and a short walk from many great eateries, cafés and markets.

  • I stayed here for almost three months and had the most pleasant experience. I have no complaints, everything positive. Mary would clean the bathroom, kitchenette area, always have the dishes washed, and even have filtered water for us to drink. Laundry can be done by her mother-in-law for $10. She does a great job, makes sure everything is washed correctly and takes the time to fold everything. Being there for three months I got to know Mary and a little of her family. They are one of the nicest families you will meet. I strongly suggest staying here!
