Eileen and Michael have been doing this for quite some time, and it shows. They anticipate your needs and have worked out their systems to accommodate you without making you feel you are disrupting their lives. They are very good hosts and nice people with a comfortable house.
Stayed here for AIRP in October. 20 minute drive to AFI Theatre. The room was very spacious and clean. The neighborhood is beautiful. Michael and Eileen were great hosts.
The perfect place for our stopover enroute to Virginia. Michael and Eileen were very good hosts, the rooms were comfortable and a lovely breakfast topped it off. They were accommodating as well -- we needed to add an additional room at the last minute, which they were able to do. Would definitely go back.
If you're ever planning to visit the D.C. area, or need a short-term place to stay during an internship or between job transitions, this is a great option for you. I stayed for 5 weeks during a FDA internship and it provided the safe, comfortable home-away-from-home that I was looking for. The neighborhood is quiet and pastoral, great for relaxing evening or morning walks. I also found public transportation easily accessible as I didn't have a car.
Mike and Eileen are a remarkable couple who felt like old friends. They welcomed us, had plenty of helpful information about visiting Washington and parking available. The two rooms we rented were beautiful and very clean. As our first AIrBandB visit, I think they have spoiled us for future rentals with other hosts. If we revisit the Washington area we will certainly stay with them. Breakfast was included and was provided in a lovely dining room; Eileen prepared delicious food that accommodated my sister's dietary restrictions as well.
Michael and Eileen go above and beyond in hosting people. They go all out to make your stay comfortable. Michael came to find us when we got off at the bus stop so we wouldn't have to walk in the dark along country roads to get to their house. They also gave us this amazing, delicious breakfast along with drinks, We had home made cookies when we got there. They are nice and friendly. Their place is homey and cozy but decorated with nice art. The surroundings and landscape is very pretty. It feels like you are in nature and in the countryside and if you had a car, it is easily accessible. If you are ever in Silversping, it is a good place to stay. They are kind people.
First of all: we had a great time here. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was more than enough for a good start in our day and we enyojed the conversation with our very nice hosts, Mike and Eileen (and Toshu ;) ). As we did not have enough time to visit all interesting places in DC, we will come back some day and definitely stay here again.
We were supremely lucky on a first try Airbnb to stay with Mike and Eileen near Washington DC. Though we arrived later than we anticipated, the driveway and home was lit for our arrival and at the door we received a warm welcome. Their home was easy to find. Our entire stay was like staying with best friends--welcoming, comfortable, cozy, and friendly. Our room Th Artist's Retreat was very spacious with a private bath and a screen thoughtfully placed in the hallway to give us even more privacy. The rooms were spotlessly clean and we were gifted with a plate of chocolate chip cookies for a bedtime snack. The location is close-in to the heart of DC (it took us about 20 minutes driving from GWU) and right on the beltway. For us the location gave a head start in the morning after a divine first class breakfast of berries and fruit salad freshly prepared, freshly ground coffee and fruit juices, a cinnamon bran muffin so delicious I forgot to put the butter on, a spinach/cheese quiche, and a slice of turkey bacon. I would say staying with the Beards would be a perfect introduction to a traveller wanting to experience real America. We would absolutely stay again when visiting the DC area and we were informed that reservations should be made well in advance as they are a sought after Airbnb super host! Thanks for making us feel so welcome and pampered!
I had a very nice and pleasant stay here. The room was very nice and spacious. Mike and Eileen were very nice. Would definitely recommend staying here.
My husband, 21 year old daughter, and I stayed with Mike and Eileen during our two days of visits to the Smithsonian Institute. The pleasant and attractive neighborhood was well located for our visit to DC. Our room was spacious and perfect for us, allowing us each our own area to hang out, do morning exercise, there's a TV too, and I especially appreciated the big comfy chair to read in with the ottoman and the lamp. The sleigh bed our daughter slept in, and the queen were both excellent. Our hosts Mike and Eileen were most gracious, serving lovely healthy food with care and flare. We had dinner with them on Friday evening which felt like an evening with new friends.
