Cosy room for 1 in grand apartment with beautiful historical decor, shared with a family of 4. Overlooking a green square, it is a few steps to the hotspot Rosenthaler Platz and trendy Kastanienallee. Flea market Mauerpark is 5min by foot.
The apartment is really extraordinary. It is a renovated old building with many beautiful historic details, like stucco, decorated double wing doors and high ceilings. Just have a look at the photos! Our house is located very central and in the most desired neighbourhood of Berlin-Mitte, with many cool restaurants and small shops and boutiques just around the corner. You will sleep in our guest room with one bed.
The location couldn't be better -- Hotspot Rosenthaler Platz is five minutes by foot and trendy Kastanienallee one minute, and on Sundays you walk five minutes to the famous Mauerpark flea market. It takes you 15 min by foot to Hackescher Markt and Museumsinsel (5 min by metrotram), Kastanienallee around the corner is the trendy street of Prenzlauer Berg with its nice independent boutiques, bakeries, cafes and bars. Our neighbourhood is one of the most desired by young people with academic background and young families -- it is lively, quiet and green at the same time.
The apartment has a direct view on the Zionskirche, a beautiful church, surrounded by high chestnut and linden trees. A wonderful quiet, green oasis inmidst the lively city!
Your guest room is equipped with a single bed, a writing desk, a commode and a small closet. It has a window on the green yard. It is very quiet - no noise at all.
Many guests said the room is actually bigger than it looks on the photos.
We will also be at the apartment during your stay. We are a family of four: Maike, 36, author for audiovisual media, Andreas, 42, bar owner and sound designer, Sophia, our 5 year old girl and Maria, one year old. The children are normally quiet and won't disturb you. They go to (email hidden).
You will share our bathroom, but don't worry: we get up around 7 and need only minutes in the bathroom, so that you can use the bathroom anytime when you need it.
You can also use our kitchen to prepare your breakfast. Of course, there is space left in our fridge for your food and you are welcome to prepare yourself a coffee or tea.
We will be happy to advise you about your discoveries in Berlin. We both know the city very well. The atmosphere in our home is warm and welcoming and we love to have guests!
Smoking is not possible in the apartment.
We will share the bathroom. This has never been complicated, as we don't need the bathroom much in the morning. Normally the guests can immediately use it when they want to. You are welcome to make yourself a coffee or tea in our kitchen or a small cold meal. We appreciate if you don't cook hot meals for yourself, and not after 20.00h.
If we are not at home, you are welcome to sit down in our beautiful livingroom. When we are at home, we appreciate our privacy in the livingroom, as the children use it for playing and Maike for working.
We will also stay at the apartment during your stay. You are welcome to ask us questions anytime when you feel the situation allows it (maybe not when we put the children to bed :-)
We are open for longer conversations in the evening, but this is not a must at all. As we are a very busy working parents family, we need some of the few hours when the children are sleeping for family administration and airbnb messages :-)
Our neighbourhood is one of the most desired central neighbourhoods of Berlin -- it is lively, quiet and green at the same time. No wonder that many young people with academic background, media professionals, creative people and young families live here and enjoy very much being outside, sit in the cafés and restaurants or on the green playgrounds with their children.
The neighbourhood is so in demand, because it is urban yet at the same time quiet and safe. The population is young, educated, "green" and trendy. For young families it's just the paradise - many children live here, there are beautiful playgrounds, many trees and hardly any traffic. Monuments/sightseeing like Hackescher Markt, the wall memorial and museum in Bernauer Str or Museums Island are in walking distance.
Kastanienallee is only one minute by foot - this is the trendy street of Prenzlauer Berg with its lovely independent boutiques, bakeries/patisseries, cafes and bars.
Next U-Bahn stations: Rosenthaler Platz (U8) or Bernauer Str. (U8), or tram station Zionskirchplatz (lines M1 and 12 take you in 5 min to Hackescher Markt and Museumsinsel, or in 10-15 min to Friedrichstr./Unter den Linden/Brandenburg gate.
The location couldn't be better -- Hotspot Rosenthaler Platz is five minutes by foot and trendy Kastanienallee one minute, and on Sundays you walk five minutes to the famous Mauerpark flea market. It takes you 15 min by foot to Hackescher Markt and Museumsinsel (5 min by metrotram).
Super Location, Freundliche und sehr aufgeschlossene Gastgeber, schöne Wohnung. Komme gerne wieder.
Thank you so much!
I have great time with Maike family. They are very friendly and her daughters are adorable. Their house is very clean and big I love their place a lot. I would recommend my friend to stay with them if they visit Berlin. Maike know Berlin very well and she always tell me where to eat. I did try different kind of food there and I love it.
Maike and Andreas apartment has a really nice and happy atmophere. Although I didn't have a chance to talk with them for long due to my crazy schedule, I felt at home like I was visiting one of my friend's house. They were really kind and attentive. The apartment is located just 2 stops away from Alexander Platz, very convenient to move around and located in a safe area full of small coffee shops. I would recommend it anytime.
I would confirm what others have said. The apartment is in an excellent location, Maike and Andreas are helpful and friendly and overall this is very good value.
A very complete room offered by a very hospitable Berlin family.
I was traveling alone in berlin, can't speak German. So I thought the host-guest accommodation would be a perfect choice and it def was ! Maike and her family was very friendly and welcoming. She gave me good advice, directions and travel methods to places. The first night I arrived I didn't bring a toothbrush with me. Maike gave me one she's willing to help. The location is nice close to a tramp that can bring you too main tourist attractions in a rapid time subway is quite a walk but it's no biggy. The neighbourhood is safe and surrounded by good bars and restaurants (Asian /western ) I'd recommend this place esp for those who are a solo traveller and not used to the new city ps. Berlin walking tour is rly nice. Some times it's free to join.
