About this listing
Enjoy the fabulous view of Dunguaire Castle from this thatch cottage residence. Only a five minute stroll along the sea front to the fishing village of Kinvara which boasts fine restaurants and lively pubs. Kinvara is en route to the Cliffs of Moher.
I have to say we love living here. We have sea and castle views from most windows and a garden out front with enough space for my herb and veg patch. Together with my garden and hens I offer something a little different with a true country living experience, yet only minutes from town. Inside is spacious and that includes the bedrooms also, the stove keeps the house warm on chilly nights.
Apart from a private double room, equipped with wash hand basin and tea making facilities, guests have access to the downstairs area including all kitchen appliances, oven, fridge, washing machine etc. Although I do not supply breakfast, guests are welcome to use the kitchen to cater for all their culinary needs, alternatively there are friendly cafes just a 5 minute sea stroll away . There is also wireless internet connection. The bathroom is shared and has an electric shower with good water pressure. This is an old house with bundles of character, the interior is quaint and rustic.
From March- October there are two bedrooms available in my cottage, each with identical facilities and castle views. If you find that the date is unavailable on this listing you can find it on my other identical listing.
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new people and chatting to visitors and can supply some good tips for local interesting sites eg: holy wells, Burren walks, beach strolls. I have a keen interest in Burren flora and know many mountain walks off the beaten track.
I'm only five minutes walk from the village so it's lovely to head into town for the regular traditional music session or to the Italian restaurant for one of their fine pizzas. There is a fabulous open farmers market every Friday from Spring through to late Autumn with great music to listen to while folk catch up and have a coffee. The George on the Quay or the Strawberry Hedgehog cafe do a great breakfast, again only minutes from the cottage.
To be honest the best way of getting around in this area is by car hire. There is a bus that travels to Galway twice a day, this bus service goes to Cliff of Moher also.
Other Things to Note
You will have the delight of meeting my extremely friendly and cuddly dog Nanook and her trusty side-kick Max, the most gorgeous German Shepard.
*Please note, if you would like to book two rooms in the house you can book one room here and another at this link:(website hidden).
As this is a self service venture, guests are required to leave the kitchen as they found it.
Please note check in is after 6pm. If a difficulty arises around check in (ie: an early Castle banquet booking) please contact me in advance to facilitate possible alternative arrangements.
We had a fantastic stay. We had a cute room upstairs with exposed beams and a view of the castle. The international plug adapters were a nice touch. We had use of the kitchen facilities and could keep stuff in the fridge. Tea and coffee in our room.
Emma and Peter were lovely and the dogs were gorgeous. Their local knowledge on touring and where to get gifts was great. We got some unique gifts from the craft shop on the village.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.
The pictures and description you see it is what you get - original experience in a cute Thatch cottage. Emma and Peter were very nice and welcoming, giving ideas about the area and things to do and see. We chatted with them both after we returned from our Medieval dinner at the castle- that you can REALLY see from the bedroom window and it is only a very short walk away.
Kinvara was beautiful town to stay in and Emma's Thatch Cottage was a dream! My boyfriend and I loved this experience and we plan to make our way back to Kinvara and hopefully say "Hi" to Emma again.
Coming up from the Cliff of Moher, I was pretty under the weather and Emma and her warm home, pups included, really started right away to treat us like one of their own. Nice and quiet, had all the essentials of a home, and comfy accommodations. Like the reviews I saw prior to our trip, Emma has a real knack for being extremely sweet, personable and hospitable.
Located along the coast and walking distance from the town, it's a great place to take a break from tourist life and absorb a small town. We loved how local the vibe felt. Having dinner there, and enjoying the long summer day to sunset, I think my boyfriend and I became a bit closer. :)
Perfect. Beautiful view. Lovely location. Kind hosts. Cute dogs. We loved our stay in Kinvarra. Highly recommended!
Emma and Peter have been really good hosts to us. We felt at home in their beautiful cottage. They were very helpfull and gave us any information we needed. The room was nice and clean with a wonderfull view at the castle. Their two dogs are among the friendliest dogs we've ever seen. It's just a nice short walk to the village of Kinvarra, with again a beautiful sight on the village, the bay and the castle.
Emma was very accommodating as we arrived really late then she let us use the kitchen to make some dinner. Lovely cottage with cute little rooms and shared bathroom. The dogs were very placid as well. Kinvarra was a lovely place to visit.
This picturesque location is a great stay and just as described. Easy to find with beautiful views. Emma was great! Would recommend to anyone.
