About this listing
Enjoy the fabulous view of Dunguaire Castle from this thatch cottage residence. Only a five minute stroll along the sea front to the fishing village of Kinvara which boasts fine restaurants and lively pubs. Kinvara is en route to the Cliffs of Moher.
I have to say we love living here. We have sea and castle views from most windows and a garden out front with enough space for my herb and veg patch. Together with my garden and hens I offer something a little different with a true country living experience, yet only minutes from town. Inside is spacious and that includes the bedrooms also, the stove keeps the house warm on chilly nights.
Apart from a private double room, equipped with wash hand basin and tea making facilities, guests have access to the downstairs area including all kitchen appliances, oven, fridge, washing machine etc. Although I do not supply breakfast, guests are welcome to use the kitchen to cater for all their culinary needs, alternatively there are friendly cafes just a 5 minute sea stroll away . There is also wireless internet connection. The bathroom is shared and has an electric shower with good water pressure. This is an old house with bundles of character, the interior is quaint and rustic.
From March- October there are two bedrooms available in my cottage, each with identical facilities and castle views. If you find that the date is unavailable on this listing you can find it on my other identical listing.
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new people and chatting to visitors and can supply some good tips for local interesting sites eg: holy wells, Burren walks, beach strolls. I have a keen interest in Burren flora and know many mountain walks off the beaten track.
I'm only five minutes walk from the village so it's lovely to head into town for the regular traditional music session or to the Italian restaurant for one of their fine pizzas. There is a fabulous open farmers market every Friday from Spring through to late Autumn with great music to listen to while folk catch up and have a coffee. The George on the Quay or the Strawberry Hedgehog cafe do a great breakfast, again only minutes from the cottage.
To be honest the best way of getting around in this area is by car hire. There is a bus that travels to Galway twice a day, this bus service goes to Cliff of Moher also.
Other Things to Note
You will have the delight of meeting my extremely friendly and cuddly dog Nanook and her trusty side-kick Max, the most gorgeous German Shepard.
*Please note, if you would like to book two rooms in the house you can book one room here and another at this link:(website hidden).
As this is a self service venture, guests are required to leave the kitchen as they found it.
Please note check in is after 6pm. If a difficulty arises around check in (ie: an early Castle banquet booking) please contact me in advance to facilitate possible alternative arrangements.
Thanks for a wonderful stay in your beautiful thatch cottage-- all promised and more. Sorry we had to sneak out so early, but we easily made it back to Dublin airport for our flight as the roads are great. The location is perfect for hiking in the Burren Geopark-- what a landscape!, driving the coast road and visiting the cliffs and island. The spectacular view across the bay and of the castle was just an added bonus.
Loved the house! Lots of space with lots of information provided by Emma on all the fun tricks to the house. It was very neat. Also tea and coffee was provided right there in the room which was very nice.
We were made very welcome and felt quite at home using the kitchen and had the offer of laundry as well. Emma and Peter were great hosts, as were the dogs. Beautiful location overlooking the water and castle.
We stayed at Emma's cottage three nights and we fell in love with her place. It is a lovely cottage near Kinvarra and Dunguaire Castle and the position is perfect if you want sightseeing Cliff of Moher, Doolin, the Burren but also Galway and Connemara.
Emma is friendly and sweet, a beautiful person and Peter is a great guy, helpful and fiendly. We really like taking a moment to chat with them whne we return home after the day up and down through Ireland :-) They have two marvellous dogs, we really like all the atmosphere of the cottage, with dogs, nature, silence and birds!
The room was large and pretty and the bathroom very clean.
We miss the cottage, Emma, Peter and the dogs from the momento we went away.
It was a nice experience staying with Emma and Peter. The cottage cute, the room spacious, the view excellent, the dogs very friendly and Emma and Peter very kind. The festival in Kinvarra was a nice surprise but also without it the village is Okay, nice bars and good food.
We had a lovely time in Emma and Peter's cottage. The pictures say it all: it's cute and cosy, cottage style! It was a very nice experience and the view of the castle was amazing! Emma and Peter were lovely and helpful, the dogs were adorable and we would definitely come back and stay there again!
We had a fantastic stay. We had a cute room upstairs with exposed beams and a view of the castle. The international plug adapters were a nice touch. We had use of the kitchen facilities and could keep stuff in the fridge. Tea and coffee in our room.
Emma and Peter were lovely and the dogs were gorgeous. Their local knowledge on touring and where to get gifts was great. We got some unique gifts from the craft shop on the village.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.
