Enjoy the fabulous view of Dunguaire Castle from this thatch cottage residence. Only a five minute stroll along the sea front to the fishing village of Kinvara which boasts fine restaurants and lively pubs. Kinvara is en route to the Cliffs of Moher.
I have to say I love living here. I have sea and castle views and a garden out front with enough space for my herb and veg patch. Together with my garden and hens I offer something a little different with a true country living experience, yet only minutes from town. Inside is spacious and that includes the bedrooms also, the stove keeps the house warm on chilly nights.
Apart from a private double room, equipped with wash hand basin and tea making facilities, guests have access to the downstairs area including all kitchen appliances, oven, fridge, washing machine etc. Although I do not supply breakfast, guests are welcome to use the kitchen to cater for all their culinary needs, alternatively there are friendly cafes just a 5 minute sea stroll away . There is also wireless internet connection. The bathroom is shared and has an electric shower with good water pressure.
From March- October there are two bedrooms available in my cottage, each with identical facilities and castle views. If you find that the date is unavailable on this listing you can find it on my other identical listing.
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new people and chatting to visitors and can supply some good tips for local interesting sites eg: holy wells, Burren walks, beach strolls. I have a keen interest in Burren flora and know many mountain walks off the beaten track.
I'm only five minutes walk from the village so it's lovely to head into town for the regular traditional music session or to the Italian restaurant for one of their fine pizzas. There is a fabulous open farmers market every Friday from Spring through to late Autumn with great music to listen to while folk catch up and have a coffee. The George on the Quay or the Strawberry Hedgehog cafe do a great breakfast, again only minutes from the cottage.
To be honest the best way of getting around in this area is by car hire. There is a bus that travels to Galway twice a day, this bus service goes to Cliff of Moher also.
Other Things to Note
You will have the delight of meeting my extremely friendly and cuddly dog Nanook and her trusty side-kick Max, the most gorgeous German Shepard.
*Please note, if you would like to book two rooms in the house you can book one room here and another at this link:https://www.airbnb.ie/manage-listing/2153822/calendar.
As this is a self service venture, guests are required to leave the kitchen as they found it.
Please note check in is after 6pm. If a difficulty arises around check in (ie: an early Castle banquet booking) please contact me in advance to facilitate possible alternative arrangements.
Emma and Peter were really lovely hosts. They made us feel incredibly welcome and treated us as if we've been friends for years. The cottage is very cozy with a great view of the castle and a short walk to quaint town of Kinvarra. It's a half hour bus ride from Galway and an hour bus ride from Cliffs of Moher. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others. Thanks again Emma and Peter!
Emma and Peter and the two dogs were all very friendly hosts. The cottage feels like it's straight out of a storybook and it was the perfect place to stay on our first night in Ireland. You may think the view of the castle must be obstructed, or quite distant, or something of the like, but I assure you it's not! You simply wake and look out your window and there it is - a magnificent Irish castle by the water! The room itself is large and comfy with plenty of blankets (and a hot water bottle if you so choose!), and the hot shower works wonders. There are a few places to eat in Kinvara, including an adorable café (The Gentian Café) just down the road that is perfect for breakfast.
We were made feel very welcome by Emma and Peter sand the 2 dogs. Our bedroom was unique and the view of the flood lit castle out of our window was magical.
It was beautiful place with lovely view to castle. Nice cottage with really friendly owners. Both dogs - Max and Nanook were cute and friendly. Nanook is good in yoga :-)
Room was tidy and comfortable with enough privacy. Emma & Peter were really generous. They offered us with special Blueberry drink. Lovely one :)
Emma and Peter were very welcoming hosts. Emma's directions lead you easily to the cottage which is on a (very small) main road between the trio of cottages and the castle. The location was only a 5 minute walk to the cute town of Kinvarra. The cafe in town had really good gluten free options and the grocery store was a walkable distance.
Any clothes that you may need washed dry fairly quickly since they have a stove downstairs.
I think the main thing to remember is that this is their home; the kitchen is shared (be mindful of this if you have allergies), the occasional noise is audible and the bed –while very warm– is a bit firm.
The cottage is charming, though. The views and location are amazing. Both dogs are wonderfully friendly. Emma and Peter are great for intelligent, open conversation and good recommendations. There is tea and a convenient sink in your room, chickens in the yard, and beautiful sights are only a reasonable drive away.
Emma and Peter are very friendly and kind hosts. It's been really a pleasure to stay in their place. Their cosy tatch cottage is fantastic and well located. Their two dogs are super-cute, Max is mild and quiet while Nanook is joyful, we loved them! We hope we'll go back soon 'cause we've had a really good time...
What an amazing place! My friend and I felt very welcome by Emma and Peter (and by their dogs Nanook and Max too!). The room was spacious and cosy and we were given plenty of blankets to hunker down in the cold weather. Emma was very accommodating; she was great company but also gave us plenty of space when we needed rest. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to experience Galway and the west coast but who wants to stay in a smaller, more comfortable town!
Friendly and cheery, I will make you most welcome in my lovely home. There are some fantastic walks in the surrounding area if that's your thing. I know if I was traveling to a new country I would want to know all the beautiful places in nature the locals like to visit.
