About This Listing
Enjoy the fabulous view of Dunguaire Castle from this thatch cottage residence. Only a five minute stroll along the sea front to the fishing village of Kinvara which boasts fine restaurants and lively pubs. Kinvara is en route to the Cliffs of Moher.
I have to say we love living here. We have sea and castle views from most windows and a garden out front with enough space for my herb and veg patch. Together with my garden and hens I offer something a little different with a true country living experience, yet only minutes from town. Inside is spacious and that includes the bedrooms also, the stove keeps the house warm on chilly nights.
Apart from a private double room, equipped with wash hand basin and tea making facilities, guests have access to the downstairs area including all kitchen appliances, oven, fridge, washing machine etc. Although I do not supply breakfast, guests are welcome to use the kitchen to cater for all their culinary needs, alternatively there are friendly cafes just a 5 minute sea stroll away . There is also wireless internet connection. The bathroom is shared and has an electric shower with good water pressure. This is an old house with bundles of character, the interior is quaint and rustic.
From March- October there are two bedrooms available in my cottage, each with identical facilities and castle views. If you find that the date is unavailable on this listing you can find it on my other identical listing.
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new people and chatting to visitors and can supply some good tips for local interesting sites eg: holy wells, Burren walks, beach strolls. I have a keen interest in Burren flora and know many mountain walks off the beaten track.
I'm only five minutes walk from the village so it's lovely to head into town for the regular traditional music session or to the Italian restaurant for one of their fine pizzas. There is a fabulous open farmers market every Friday from Spring through to late Autumn with great music to listen to while folk catch up and have a coffee. The George on the Quay or the Strawberry Hedgehog cafe do a great breakfast, again only minutes from the cottage.
To be honest the best way of getting around in this area is by car hire. There is a bus that travels to Galway twice a day, this bus service goes to Cliff of Moher also.
Other Things to Note
You will have the delight of meeting my extremely friendly and cuddly dog Nanook and her trusty side-kick Max, the most gorgeous German Shepard.
*Please note, if you would like to book two rooms in the house you can book one room here and another at this link:(website hidden).
As this is a self service venture, guests are required to leave the kitchen as they found it.
Please note check in is after 6pm. If a difficulty arises around check in (ie: an early Castle banquet booking) please contact me in advance to facilitate possible alternative arrangements.
Enjoyed our stay although quite brief. We have always wanted to stay in a thatch cottage and great to see a castle through the bedroom window. We just don't have this at home. Also great to chat to Peter. Lovely large room with everything that was needed.

Great room with fabulous views! We loved our stay in Kinvara!
Emma and Peter were kind and helpdesk and had good suggestions for seeing things in the neighbour.
Such a lovely host, and a great house vibe! My only regret is that we didn't book two nights instead of one. Location is fantastic (across the street from a castle) and the room was lovely, as were Emma, her partner, and sweet doggies.
The room with Emma was exactly as described. Its large and spacious and really does look right over the nearby castle (that looks lovely at night). Our room had its own wash basin and kettle and has a shared bathroom. Emma and Peter are really helpful and the cottage is very close to the lovely village of Kinvara. We found the cottage and Kinvara itself a very handy place to explore the region and to experience a little of village life. We were there on a Friday when the village market is on and this is strongly recommended. There is a very good supermarket in Kinvara that you can use to stock up for breakfast things. Parking is literally outside the front door. We loved Galway for a day visit but were very happy to come back to Kinvara (its only 30 minutes by car).
Emma and Peter did a wonderful job greeting us and welcoming us to their cottage. They have a lovely home and two friendly dogs. We really enjoyed the stay in the thatch cottage and would recommend this location to others. We wished we could have spent more time in the Kinvarra area but we did enjoy the little time we had in the evening to roam the area. Great location, great people, and great place!

About the Host, Emma
Friendly and cheery, I will make you most welcome in my lovely home. There are some fantastic walks in the surrounding area if that's your thing. I know if I was traveling to a new country I would want to know all the beautiful places in nature the locals like to visit.
If the date you're looking at isn't available check out my other listing for the other bedroom in the house here's the link on the air BnB website.
