Thatch cottage with Castle views.

House - Private room · Kinvarra, Galway, Ireland

Enjoy the fabulous view of Dunguaire Castle from this thatch cottage residence. Only a five minute stroll along the sea front to the fishing village of Kinvara which boasts fine restaurants and lively pubs. Kinvara is en route to the Cliffs of Moher.

The Space

Welcome folks!
I have to say I love living here. I have sea and castle views and a garden out front with enough space for my herb and veg patch. This Spring I'm planning to fix up the hen house and get a new batch of hens. Inside is spacious and that includes the bedrooms also, the stove keeps the house warm on chilly nights.

Guest Access

Apart from a private double room, equipped with wash hand basin, guests have access to the downstairs area of the living room and kitchen, including all kitchen appliances, oven, fridge, washing machine etc. There is also wireless internet connection. The bathroom is shared and has an electric shower with good water pressure.

Interaction with Guests

I love meeting new people and chatting to visitors and can supply some good tips for local interesting sites eg: holy wells, Burren walks, beach strolls. I have a keen interest in Burren flora and know many mountain walks off the beaten track.

The Neighborhood

I'm only five minutes walk from the village so it's lovely to head into town for the regular traditional music session or to the Italian restaurant for one of their fine pizzas. There is a fabulous open farmers market every Friday from Spring through to late Autumn with great music to listen to while folk catch up and have a coffee. The George on the Quay or the Strawberry Hedgehog cafe do a great breakfast, again only minutes from the cottage.

Getting around

To be honest the best way of getting around in this area is by car hire. There is a bus that travels to Galway twice a day, this bus service goes to Cliff of Moher also.

Other Things to Note

You will have the delight of meeting my extremely friendly and cuddly dog Nanook.

  • Emma was a lovely host, she was very welcoming and told us about things to do in the area, and even gave us a lift to Abbey hill. The room and the house were really nice and the location was great, as we could reach it without a car. A great place to stay!

  • Emma is an excellent host. She is friendly, easy going and she offered loads of great advice. The cottage is full of charm with spacious rooms and excellent views.
We went to the Italian restaurant she recommended it and it was delicious and reasonable priced. Next morning we climbed Abbey Hill as she suggested and it was amazing. We were the only people there and the views were out of this world, make sure you do it!

  • Emma was a wonderful host. We were a bit under the weather when we arrived. She immediately mixed up some homegrown herbs to make us delightful tea that brought us back to life! She gave us great recommendations on where to visit and eat. And she has the most lovely (and loving) dog!! Was an absolute pleasure to spend a few nights at Emma's.

  • Emma's cottage was absolutely delightful, and Nanook is such a sweetie, we really enjoyed playing with the puppy! Kinvarra is the perfect location to explore the west coast of Ireland, we were able to visit the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin area, Galway, and horseback ride all within reasonable driving distance. We would definitely recommend this Airbnb :)

Oh yeah, and the room is huuuuge!!! The cottage really gave an authentic feeling to our visit to Ireland, but the highlight of Kinvarra was meeting Emma!

Friendly and cheery, I will make you most welcome in my lovely home. There are some fantastic walks in the surrounding area if that's your thing. I know if I was traveling to a new country I would want to know all the beautiful places in nature the locals like to visit.
