Malo and welcome. We have four fales available ...Vaimalo fale, Vaimalo Sunrise , Vaimalo Sunset and Vaimalo Bamboo Fale

Sunrise Fale is built over the water with stunning views of both sunrise and sunset from the deck. The Fale is self contained catching the sea breeze. At high tide roll off the deck into the water. We are at the end of a small local village.
A perfect place to just immerse yourself in the beauty of Vava'u waters. Join us once our borders re open after COVID-19

The space
We have built this Fale over the lapping Lagoon water and at low tide you step down and walk out into the Lagoon. Fish from the deck or just watch the fish under a light at night. Enjoy sunsets and sunrises as you relax on one of two deck spaces. The fish and coral life outside our place is abundant so snorkel-and kayak during the day.
The Fale is spacious and self contained: two beds - a queen and single with mosquito nets, a mini kitchen to cook and then eat out on the deck. Ensuite bathroom with gas hot water.. Washing line. There is an outside shower also. A shared laundry is up at our house.

Guest access
Enjoy our whole corner of the village, the Lagoon, Paea's bush garden for food, mangrove area. Leading up to your fale we have a bbq area with sheltered tables and a small garden to enjoy. A shared laundry is up by our house. We do have spare snorkels, reef shoes and flippers to use . We welcome you like family.

Other things to note
Due to Covid 19 are borders are closed at the moment.(July)
A new domestic airline Lulutai will be in operation in August.

There are two boats. Fast catamaran = 6-8 hrs, slow. Boat...18hrs. Check with Friendly Islands shipping Company on their fb page.

Whale Swim: BOOK EARLY.

Diving: Dive Tonga

Bring repellant and any necessary creams etc. but mindful that sunblock kills coral so check the ingredients.
We are 10 mins from shops so bring favorite nibbles. I will take you shopping on arrival for food supplies.
We have mosquito nets but insects are not a problem by the water.

Restaurants are in town. Mango, Coffee and Tees cafe, Bella Vista. Tropicana for internet access.

And buy reef friendly sunscreen, eco shampoo
.bring reef shoes.

Location

Vaimalo, Vava'u, Tonga

Vaimalo meaning 'Thank You Water' is a small village of 95 people nestled into a hill. We are located at the end down a lane by the water. It is quiet and peaceful just the lapping of the water around your fale and the cooling breeze across the water.

I am a New Zealand born trained teacher who originally ventured into the Pacific...Rarotonga in the late '70's. I have lived in the Cook Islands and Niue over the past 40 years and now about to enter a new chapter in my life and have moved to Vava'u Tonga with Paea my new husband in July 2017. Look for our three Airbnb Fales/units, “Vaimalo Fale" Vaimalo Sunrise and Vaimalo Sunset both over the water. Come and stay. The main attraction is kayaking in the huge Lagoon, snorkeling, fishing, diving and swimming with the whales June-Oct-Nov. See you there for your next trip. Malo.

During your stay
We both love welcoming our guests and mindful of giving them a truly memorable and relaxing time. Paea has returned to his home village after years teaching in NZ and is always willing and enthusiastic to share his culture. Paea will do an island tour on request, take you to his bush garden and prepare an umu with you. He can assist you with snorkeling and kayaking.
