About This Listing
Our small, quiet complex is walking distance to the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Morley Field, public trans, and many restaurants/shops/activities. Your large, private room very comfortably fits two, with room to spare. We look forward to having you!
Your private space is the large and bright master bedroom in a quiet, retro apartment complex. The room has floor to ceiling windows that overlook the common area and pool, and during the day the room gets great light. There is a desk that you can use as a table for your laptop or just to place your things on. The bed is a double high queen size air mattress, which comfortably fits two. It has a memory foam topper on it, so it feels like a regular bed! We will provide sheets, pillows, and blankets if you need them.
You will have full use of our home, including the bathroom, kitchen, and living room. My boyfriend and I share the other bedroom.
We live in a quiet and friendly complex with only about 30 units. We are on the first floor (though there are 5 stairs up to the front gate), and there is one level above us. The complex is gated, has a pool, 2 washers ($1.25 per load) and 2 dryers ($1.00 per load). Our home is completely furnished, so it has everything you might need!
We have a simple living space, and we keep it clean and neat so it is very comfortable for our guests.
There is wifi for your convenience, as well as cable TV in the living room. Parking is on the street, and you can always find a spot within a block or two.
The neighborhood we live in is called Hillcrest. This is a very lively and friendly area, as well as SD's LGBT neighborhood. We are also very close to North Park and University Heights, both of which have lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. Hillcrest has so much to offer, almost all within walking distance (or a very short drive- less than 5 mins). Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, clothing stores, grocery stores, thrift shops - anything you would need, really.
There are also plenty of other things very close by. You can walk to Morley Field (which is a giant, beautiful park with hiking trails, fields, dog park, tennis courts, and more). You can also walk to Balboa Park, which is one of San Diego's biggest attractions. There are museums, the SD Zoo, a greenhouse, a Japanese flower garden, and much more.
On Sunday mornings, there is a large farmers market about 3 blocks from our house- this is a great place to spend an hour or two checking out great food/produce, music, crafts, and much more.
If you have a car and are looking to explore more of SD, downtown is only 5/10 mins drive, beaches are 10/15 mins drive, mission valley (which has two giant malls, movie theaters, and tons of stores and restaurants) is a 5 min drive, La Jolla/Del Mar (more upscale areas of SD) are about 20 mins drive, Coronado island is 10/15 mins. Tijuana, Mexico is also only a short drive away. You will not have any trouble finding things to do! And we are always happy to point you in the right direction :)
You have open access to all shared rooms and furnishings. We don't mind sharing bathroom supplies if you need them, and you may also use any of the appliances in the kitchen. We have a stove, oven, foreman grill, steamer, ninja blender, toaster, microwave, and lots of other good stuff!
Interaction with Guests
We are here to make your stay enjoyable! If you like to hang out and chat, we are happy to do so-it's always nice to get to know our guests. If you prefer your privacy and don't need much guidance around town, we respect that too.
There are many buses that run right by our house, with multiple bus stops within a block or two. There are also taxis if needed. If you prefer to walk, there is everything you might need within walking distance. San Diego is also pretty bike friendly, if that's your style :)
The airport is a 15 minute drive (about $20 taxi ride) from our place, via highway.
We want you to feel at home, so we do not have many rules. The most important is that you just respect our home and treat it well. We do not allow smoking, or pets. You are welcome to come and go as you please, but our quiet hours are from 10 PM until 8AM Monday through Friday, and Midnight until 9AM on weekends.
We also ask that you respect our neighbors by keeping the noise down when you are in the courtyard, as this is a small, intimate complex.
