As seen on Condé Nast Traveler, our 1963 A-frame cabin in the woods has been re-imagined and up-cycled while keeping its mid-century soul. Proudly part of the KindCabineer Collection, $2 of every guest stay supports The Big Bear Alpine Zoo & Rehabilitation Center, helping to support wildlife recovery efforts.
The space
Located in a grove of 21 pine trees on a 5,000 sq. ft lot, its vintage A-frame design provides seclusion + privacy on a quiet street.
When it comes to commercial shoots, our cabin has been the backdrop of shoots with Sonos, Lululemon, Dick’s Sporting Goods and many more.
A crafty wood fence surrounds for ultimate privacy in keeping your cabin moments to yourself. Snuggle up to a cozy fire, listen to Sinatra on vinyl, and watch the snow fall facing a wall of windows opening to a grand deck amongst the pine grove.
Only 12-minutes from Snow Summit or Bear Mountain Ski Resort, discover a plethora of winter activities within close reach. If hiking and wooden canoes ignites your explorer side, find dozens of trails and Big Bear Lake just around the corner. Explore rental stores for skis, snowboards, mountain bikes, other winter or summer sports, mom & pop restaurants, antique & vintage shops, local coffee roasters, and the town center, The Village.
With every inch of the cabin thoughtfully curated, we built this special getaway as our dream cabin.
Keeping sustainability our primary goal, we used eco-paints, installed bamboo floors, refurbished all the original lighting and most of the furniture and purchased the rest from vintage shops to up-cycle.
Enjoy the wilderness from your bed or sofa as you enjoy extra-large wall of windows and doors designed to create an indoor/outdoor experience. Put your culinary skills to the test in the well-equipped kitchen (vegan cookbooks included) with more than enough space to entertain — or roll out the grill for a cabin BBQ on the deck, sharing space with the pines and squirrels.
Wind the night down by enjoying your favorite flick on either of the two TV's. Downstairs, cozy up to the fireplace with a 55-inch screen smart TV (Netflix, Hulu or Amazon). Or, head upstairs and cozy up under the covers on the (new) gel-memory Bear mattress (made with eco-friendly materials), and for the best sleep experience we use Cozy Earth Eco- Luxury bamboo bedding that helps in relaxing sore muscles and help you feel refreshed.
Romantically perfect for two, but nicely accommodating for 3 or 4, you'll find a super comfy fold-out queen bed in sofa for a getaway with close friends or family. There are lots of extra blankets and pillows for the most comfortable of stays.
Driving Electric? We have you covered with an outdoor plug to charge overnight by the driveway to plug in at night. Just bring your own charger and you are set to go.
We are thrilled to share our wilderness escape with you this winter. We hope you enjoy as much as we do.
Community Impact: We have a $2 per reservation community fee added in the check out. 100% of funds are donated to Big Bear Alpine Zoo, a rehabilitation facility and a sanctuary for indigenous wild animals that have been permanently impacted by human behavior and unable to return to the wild. We also encourage you to visit their new location, meet some amazing animals that are unable to return to the wild for various reasons, and learn how you can help support animals in the wild and in their care.
Other things to note
Our FIBER OPTIC WiFi is blazing fast it's currently rated at 500Mbps ready for all your streaming needs
EV Charging: We have a 110v plug out in front of the cabin you are welcome to use to plug in your personal travel charger. We do not have an actual charger on the property.
For every night booked at our mid-century A-Frame, we donate $2 to The Big Bear Alpine Zoo, saving alpine wildlife since 1959. As a rehabilitation facility, it is a safe place for injured animals to rehabilitate and get a second chance back in the wild.
In order to keep the kitchen safe, sanitary, and free of contamination, we do not provide any open container liquids (honey, cooking oil, and other items like this) after Covid. We do provide your basic dry spices and sometimes a few extras for your use in the kitchen. Sorry for any inconvenience this could cause.
The facility is owned and operated by Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District, a Special District of the County of San Bernardino. They offer injured, orphaned and imprinted wild animals a safe haven, temporarily while they heal, or permanently as they are unable to survive on their own. 90% of all animals brought to the zoo for rehabilitation are successfully released back onto their native environment. Giving back to the local community and wildlife is very important to us.
We encourage you to visit and explore the sanctuary (not more than 10 minutes away from the cabin) and connect with the animals. It’s a special experience.

Pet Policy- While we are pet-friendly, if there will be more than one dog, we kindly ask you to notify us before booking, as we will evaluate on a case-by-case basis.
Please note there is a $35 pet cleaning fee (including service animals/ESA animals). If you are bringing a pet, you are required to check the “pet fee” upon reservation. Airbnb's policy for service animals allows up to ONE service animal per stay; if additional pets join, there will be additional fees. This includes all types of dogs due to pet dander and non-shedding dogs.
Our cleaning team charges us this fee due to the extra cleaning that is required with pets. Due to our allergy-sensitive guests, it's mandatory that the highest levels of cleaning procedures take place to maintain optimal health standards.
We kindly ask if you bring any animals; PLEASE keep them off of the sofa, blankets, and bedding. Thank you.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding.
