Go back in time in this stylishly remodeled 1978 Norfolk Southern Caboose Car with queen bed, futon, table for two and attached outside deck. The overnight stay in this lovely Caboose #1 includes a complimentary breakfast. Guests can enjoy 96-acres of beautiful mountain property and 4+ miles of hiking trails. This is a unique and unforgettable experience. All proceeds support Apple Ridge Farm, a non-profit that "Helps Kids Grow!". This rental is Pet Friendly with a $25 per pet fee.

The space
Since 1978, Apple Ridge Farm has been a 501 c3 nonprofit organization providing environmental education and summer camp experiences, field trip programs, and afterschool programs for more than 80,000 youth, many from inner-city neighborhoods and public housing projects.

Our visionary founder Peter Lewis, believes strongly that all adults must take responsibility for helping young people succeed. Matching dreams to deeds, Peter purchased this Copper Hill farm in 1974 in order to establish a mountain retreat and education center to give underserved children an educational experience in a natural setting. Our educational programs teach not only core subjects like math and science, but also critical life skills such as self-esteem and positive values, guiding young learners in their personal and academic growth.

Our 96-acre mountain property is a magical place for youth and adults alike. We hope you will come stay with us and experience that magic for yourself.

Apple Ridge Farm's beautiful rural 96-acre education and retreat center is located in Copper Hill, VA Floyd County, nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains which affords visitors exposure to the beauty and prestige of SW Virginia's natural charm. We are located in a rural setting with lots of countryside charm and natural habitats.

Onsite Activities:
There are many places to explore at Apple Ridge Farm's education and retreat center. There are 4+ miles of hiking trails on our property for guests to enjoy as well as tennis & basketball courts, pickle ball court, ball field, horseshoe pit, fire pit located at our ball field, and a picnic table area.

Onsite Driving Conditions:
Apple Ridge Farm is located on mountainous terrain which has a 1 mile driveway through its property. It is a 1/2 mile drive on our gravel road through our property to get up to where the cabooses are located. AWD and 4WD vehicles are recommended, but not required to get to the cabooses. Please note that low-riding vehicles such as sports cars may have difficulty getting to the caboose area.

Other things to note
Caboose 1 is a Smoke Free and Pet Friendly rental.

Smoking is permitted outdoors.

Caboose #1 and Caboose #2 as well as our Starr's House Lodge are all Pet Friendly. However, Caboose #3 is not pet friendly.

Caboose #1 sleeps 4 people, Caboose #2 sleeps 2 people, and our Lodge B&B Suite sleeps 6 people.
