Kreuzberg is the new place to be in Berlin: Coffeeshops, design-shops, stylish bars and international take-away food-stalls line up in the vibrant Schlesische Straße and Wrangelstraße, just around our corner. Our street, however, is a silent living street right at the famous Landwehrkanal.
Our beautifully renovated ground flor apartment in an old Berlin house from 1900 has a view to the waterside, which enables you to have a good coffee on our window sill and watch the boats going by.
You will be staying in a beautiful little room with a comfortable queen-size bed, a little walk-in closet and your own little washing basin. You also have the luxury of having your own little balcony.
Should you come with more than two people, we do also have a couch on our loft in the living room, which offers cozy sleeping space for up to two more people. However, privacy up there is limited, because the loft is open to the livingroom/kitchen.
We have two bathrooms with shower and toilet, which means that you will have one fully for yourselves for the time of your stay. It is conveniently located directly next to your room.
We are happy to provide you with a fresh coffee and a nice breakfast to get you started into a great day. Travel guide and city maps are at your disposal as are we, who will happily give you some tips about places to see and things to do in wonderful Berlin.
All the important sights are a short bike or subway ride away, the famous East Side Gallery (a last piece of the Berlin Wall) and the beautiful "Oberbaumbrücke" - formerly a bridge between East and West - are just a short walk from your home in Berlin. The closest subway stop is "Schlesische Straße", the closest city train stop is "Warschauer Straße" or "Treptower Park". There is also a convenient bus leaving right at the corner of our street and taking you to "Checkpoint Charly" in 15minutes.
The rental price includes breakfast, bedlinen, towels, hairdryer, shampoo and soap and two bikes, if needed also with a children's seat.
Children are warmly welcome. They can stay in our "pirate-boat", the kids room, together with our kids, or on a mattress in the guest-room. Children up to the age of 6 stay for free.
***NEW*** We now have a canoe to offer - rent it for 20 Euro a day and discover Berlin from the water, starting right in front of our house on the canal. ***NEW***
We want you to feel like staying with friends. This is also how we would like you to behave, and that is about the only rule there is.
We have two small children and hope you do get along with kids - it certainly helps to make your stay with us even more enjoyable! If you have kids yourself, we are happy to have them - bring them along, up to the age of 6 they stay for free...
To the party-people amongst you: We clearly live in one of the best areas also for partying and going out at night. However, please note that our two boys are children after all - which means that they get up at around 8 - 8:30 and start playing. We can keep them calm for a few hours, but if you intend to sleep all day and go out all night, our place might not quite be what you are looking for.
If you stay for one night only, we charge a 10 Euro cleaning fee.
Rebecca (Kris' wife--he was away) was so friendly and welcoming, with beautiful coffees waiting for us on arrival. Calling it a dream home in the listing was no exaggeration: it really was such a beautiful place! The neighbourhood was just as lovely, with the canal being on the other side of the road from the flat. We had breakfast with the family which was lovely, and the free bikes were a great (& useful) touch. It'd be a pleasure to stay again.
We spent a perfect week end in Kris and Rebecca's. The place is lovely, sunny and perfectly located (in a very peaceful street of Kreuzberg, along the canal but 5 minutes walking from all the restaurants and bars). Rebecca was a charming host ! We loved sharing with her a very good breakfast and all the tips we needed.
One of my best air bnb experience ! No doubt I will go back for my next stay in Berlin.
Thank you a lot Kris for welcoming Mari and I at your place.
It is as on the photos sooo sunny and nice.
The place is perfectly located and easy to find in the lively area of Kreuzberg.
The bed is comfy and there is everything there to feel like at home.
I'm sorry we couldn't met U and I hope U had wondeful holidays.
Kris and Rebecca's gorgeous place was the perfect base for my week-long stay in Berlin. The family is very kind and laid-back - i was treated as one of the household from the moment I walked in the door when Kris invited me for a beer and a homemade sushi dinner with the kids. Such a treat after a long day of traveling on the train! The room is extremely comfy and well-equipped - everything you need for a short or long stay. Oh, and the yummy breakfast in front of the huge living room windows is definitely a morning highlight!
Though it's a bit of the trek from the main train station, the location is really quite good, a stone's throw away from an U-bahn station with links to many happening areas in Berlin. The bonus was that though the place was close to tons of restos and cafes, it was still quite peaceful being situated alongside the canal (perfect for scenic afternoon runs if you are into that). It was a pity that the family was away on holiday for half of my stay but that just means I have to come back to Berlin to hang out with them again! Highly recommended :)
I am a Latvian Carpenter, who has lately taken to special craftsmanship: I have been taking care of my two little sons during the last 5 years.
At the same time, together with my wife, who is from Germany, we have bought and redesigned our beautiful apartment. I did all the works on my own and thus managed to realize our ideas of how to preserve the old (the house is from 1900) and bring in some modern aspects at the same time.
Originally I am from Riga, but I have been travelling and working abroad for most of my grown up life. Thus I have lived in Australia and the Netherlands and have backpacked most of Asia and South America. Me and my wife both love meeting people from abroad, who can tell us about their backgrounds and cultures. Every person you meet is a chance to learn - thus I love the idea of airbnb and can guarantee that with us you get more than just a bed to sleep, you get an experience.
Looking forward to meeting you and share a red wine and some good talks.
