The stay at Surf Vista Villas was remarkable and it stands above the rest in all of my travels with AirBnB. The location is breathtaking, but Sebastian's enthusiasm for life and regard for his guests is a gift for any traveler. Sebastian was our host and he helped arrange our outings including snorkeling and surfing, but we never met Andrew. I am a photographer and a writer and Surf Vista lent me to it's natural ability to act as both a photography studio and a place to park, unplug, and write. The views and the grounds are the sort of thing that one would typically fantasize about while reading descriptions of exotic locations in some far flung part of the world while life buzzes around in a busy flurry of white noise. Go here. You won't regret it. The rooms are basic and free and clutter, the perfect setting for clearing the mind. This is not a resort though, which is what makes it even more lovely. The room we stayed in accommodated my fiancé and I quite nicely, but there were enough beds and space in the open layout that I immediately started to think about gathering the boys for a surf trip next year. And my goodness the surf... I am not nearly skilled enough for what I witnessed out on those beaches, but I have a new inspiration. Other things to note: The roads are, in my opinion, quite lovely, but I enjoy an off road adventure. If you drive, take a 4x4, you will need it. I also suggest getting rid of the car as soon as you can and opting to rent a four-wheeler/quad instead. The quad is the only way to travel in Santa Teresa and Sebastian can arrange a rental at a good price. The stoves are gas and work great, I even baked banana bread and shared it with the other guests while I was there. The other staff are quite helpful and are also amazing people with warm hearts. There are plenty of fans for ventilation on a hot day and the AC worked nicely as well (we used it on some nights). Food tips: It seems like you can't go wrong in Santa Teresa, but Sebastian has a cafe in town that has a wonderful omelet and the restaurant at the bottom of the driveway is spectacular. It is a little pricer, but its the type of place that you want to spend your money at. We actually spent more time in Surf Vista Villas than we planned, which was perfect. Go here. Pura Vida.

Staying here was a really great experience. And are so glad that we stayed at Surf Vista Villas. We enjoyed the peaceful beauty of the rainforest from our very clean, comfortable room and porch that was decked out with chairs, hammock and dining table. The beach and town were 2-3 minutes away. Andrew was not there, however, Sebastian took great care of us, he answered all our questions, made great recommendations, set us up with a totally fun zip line experience in nearby Mal Pais, surfing lessons, advise on best routes to get to places like Montezuma and the National Park. He absolutely exuded Pura Vida, we appreciated his presence so much. In Santa Teresa there are many dining options. Our favorite for breakfast and lunch is Bali's, awesome fresh and healthy menu with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Our favorite for dinner was El Facon. Watching the chef in the outdoor kitchen was fun, food and service was great. The wildlife was breath taking, we saw lots of birds, lizards and howler monkeys. You definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps and an adventurous spirit to fully appreciate the way of life here.

This was by far the best Vista in Santa Teresa. Went with a group of five and walking up the the sunrise above the ocean was the best!! Only recommendation is that it is far up the mountain on a steep hill. If you are renting a car definitely get a 4 wheel drive because we got stuck during the rain on the mud and the locals helped us. Everyone is super friendly but Pura Vida is a way of life. Great food places in town and very fresh and healthy choices as well. If you're down for a great adventure and getaway his is the places. We rented ATVS and went zipping both ranged between $50-$60 with transportation. By far the best trip ever and we will be back!!!

Hard to find but good place. Andrew & his wife are super friendly and they even set up something for us to do! Nice people right by beach

Andy and Cota's place is special. It's located a short enough distance off the main road to be accessible, far enough to feel removed and in the jungle and high enough to see the beach over the treetops. We found ourselves hurrying home each night to watch sunset with the howler monkeys and cicadas. Communication was fantastic. Our time in Santa Teresa was awesome and this place was definitely a factor. Hope to be back!

Really beautiful place perched in the jungle over looking the Pacific ocean. We felt very at home at Andy's place and would recommend it to anyone. Really quiet and comfortable for young families and young couples to spend some time. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed it. Pura Vida.

This villa is perfect! The view is beautiful from anywhere on the property. The room is very clean and tidy, they have various hammocks and swing chairs to relax in. The pool is always clean and the deck is perfect to relax on. The villa is up in the hills so i would highly recommend renting an ATV or dirt bike, since its a pretty hefty walk up the hill. The surfing is good down by the beach! Sunsets are BEAUTIFUL from the pool deck. This place is a must stay if you are in santa teresa, I cant wait to return.

I've lived in lake tahoe since 1991 and have since grown quite attached to the outdoors . after many years in the snow my desire to be near the ocean grew stronger . after many trips to maui , kauai , and costa rica I found mal pais/santa teresa and never left . it's such a special place . the people , beaches , restaurants , culture and waves are very hard to beat .
