At the heart of adventure and at the western edge of Zion National Park, Lazalu provides the experience you'd wish for in the Southwest: solitude, hiking, climbing, as Thomas Gray said, "Away from the madding crowds."

The guesthouse sleeps six, two in the front room and four twin beds in the back room. One full bath including a marble tub and hand-held shower.
Outdoor shower too.

Hiking trails in the Park are a ten-minute walk away. Rental of the whole property is ideal for small weddings.

The space
What makes the Guest House unique is its secluded location at the western edge of Zion National Park. Lazalu was an artist retreat for 20 years and now welcomes guests. Lazalu is a two-hour drive from Las Vegas or I can arrange a 40-minute helicopter flight from Vegas to your bedroom.

The Guest House has two twin trundle beds in the back room and a queen bed in the front room. Sleeps comfortably up to six.

There is access to a shared kitchen and common room. There is an outdoor shower in addition to full bath in the Guest House. Shop before you arrive either in Vegas or Hurricane, or your first meal can be provided by the best local restaurant if ordered in advance. Groceries can be purchased for you with advance notice. Directions and advice on request.

At Lazalu you are in a wilderness and appropriate attire and attitude are required. Outdoor activities can be organized with licensed guides with advance notice. Lazalu makes a perfect location for a small wedding.
I work with the best local wedding planner.

Guest access
The Entire property is available except the main house and its courtyard. You are always welcome to ask the manager a question or on a rainy day to borrow a book from the 2,000 book library of art, poetry, and literature.

Other things to note
From Las Vegas, drive or fly to Lazalu. By helicopter the aerial views are spectacular and Lazalu can provide a rental car during your stay.

Lazalu is a two-hour drive from Las Vegas. Navigate on GPS to Virgin, Utah 84779, and I can give specific directions up the mountain from there.

Lazalu is 11.3 miles above Virgin. The newly paved Park road not only takes you in and out of beautiful Zion Park scenery, but right to Lazalu's driveway. Easy to reach, Lazalu is always fifteen degrees cooler than the valley below.

Lazalu sits in the heart of adventure at the western edge of Zion National Park in its own mountain valley, away from, "the madding crowd." Lazalu is off the grid and secluded.

Yet we are only a 40-minute drive from Springdale, Zion Park's main town where there are restaurants, shopping, and many more tourists. Or Hurricane where there are the conveniences of a larger town.

My name is Robert Perkins. I live next to the 146,000 acres of wilderness in Zion Park, on the Park's western edge, an unspoiled, uncrowded area at the edge of adventure. I can't live without poetry and art in my life. I take long solo canoe journeys in the Canadian Arctic, and around the world for PBS and Channel 4 in England. I am a practicing artist who loves solitude and will respect your privacy, or have conversations, if asked. I look forward to sharing this unique AirB&B with you, your family and friends. Visiting Lazalu is the experience of the Southwest you would hope for in the heart of Nature, intimate and personal. As Thomas Gray said, "Away from the madding crowd." For the occasional rainy day, I have a library of 2,000 books on art, world literature, and poetry. If I have a motto and it's this: "not by appointment do we meet delight." I have years of experience in my vicinity and can point you in the right direction. If I can't provide what you want, I know who can.

During your stay
I am discrete but available for sharing local knowledge. At Lazalu the night sky is dazzling....the stars appear close enough to touch. The ancient river stone patio is a perfect place to stargaze or just relax and take in the dramatic views of Zion Park.
