Interaction with Guests
We will welcome you in person. We are available to answer any questions about your visit to Brooklyn and NYC and are happy to tell you about the neighborhood. Breakfast of bagels, spreads, fruit, and OJ, is delivered at 8:30am, Monday-Saturday (we give you double breakfast on Saturday) or you can opt-out. We'll have umbrellas for you in the rain and sunblock for you in the heat. Alternatively, we can give you privacy.
From New York to Paris, the neighborhood of Bushwick is on everyone’s lips. The neighborhood is known for its convergence of art, food, culture, and experimentation. While also known for its gritty, industrial streets, Weirfield Street is an oasis of trees and curved brick homes, beauty that rivals Greenwich village. (Don't forget to look at our Guidebook!)
Armature Art Space is the free, volunteer-run gallery we run in the house’s basement. Visit (email hidden) to review scheduled art openings. We also report on local artists, music events, and art openings for a neighborhood blog, Arts in Bushwick ((website hidden)).
1/2 block to Irving Square Park, recently renovated to feature rolling lawns, meandering pathways, full play ground and jungle gym, roses, benches, and dog park.
A mile path around a reservoir is a 10 minute jog away.
The neighborhood features “a zillon” bodegas, coffee shops, pizza, as well as famous restaurants (see Roberta’s pizzeria), international supermarket, pharmacies, music bars (from lovable dives like Don Pedro to chic new places like Bizzarre), and vegan restaurants.
Public transportation is 2 blocks away at the Halsey Street "L Train" stop, part of the NYC subway system. The ride from Halsey Street to Manhattan takes 15 minutes, but the wonders of Brooklyn are all that much closer. On the way to Manhattan, the train makes stops in more of Bushwick and throughout Williamsburg with a connection to the crosstown "G" train running across Brooklyn and into Queens. The "L" train usually runs every 5 to 10 minutes.
JFK and LaGuardia International Airport are convenient to the house. If you're a group of 4 or more, we recommend you get a taxi or local car service (ask us for a phone number) since the cost will be about the same as the subway. Otherwise, the "A Train" from JFK seamlessly connects to the "L Train" where we are the third stop.

Great place to stay for your visit to New York.
The appartment is spacious and clean. Roberta and Christian are really nice folks!
We tremendously enjoyed our stay at Chris and Roberta's Bed 'n Bagel!! Their loft is so clean and neatly decorated. The beds and linens are so nice and comfortable. And as hosts, Chris and Roberta go above and beyond. They have thought of everything and more when stocking the loft with things you might need while in Brooklyn/NYC. When we arrived the refrigerator was stocked with enough juice, hummus, and cream cheese for our entire stay. To top it off Roberta delivered fresh bagels, donuts and fruit to our room every morning. She and Chris were always so cheerful and helpful about anything and everything. The first night, our 7 year old wanted to take a bath to "soak her tired feet", but the plug in the bathtub was jammed and upon asking Chris about it, he couldn't get it to work either and insisted on going out that night (it was about 10 p.m.) to find a plug to fix it even though we told him our daughter would be ok with a shower that night. Also, one night the subway line that we had been taking back and forth from Brooklyn to Manhattan was going not going to be going to Brooklyn after a certain time of night that day and I received a text from Chris letting me know and giving me an alternate route to get back to Brooklyn. They really went out of their way to make sure our stay was as enjoyable. We will definitely be staying with them again in the future! Thank you both so much for helping make our family's trip to NYC a blast!!!
thanks for the great stay! the place is lovely and spacious and we enjoyed our time there very much.
Sandwichgrill in unmittelbarer Nähe.
) in New York ermöglicht, vielen Dank noch einmal dafür!
Wir können allen Interessierten diese Unterkunft von Roberta und Christian bestens empfehlen, wir würden sie jederzeit wieder buchen.

We ( a family with two grown up daughters ) stayed in Robertas and Christians Charming 3bdrm Loft. We had a great stay over there. The rooms were very clean, also the fridge was already filled with some food ( and beer :-) ) and some cards for the subway were also present. Everything was as described, there was really muchg space available. Roberta and Christian also organized special glutenfree Bagel, because we needed them. They have been very friendly and helpfull hosts ( organizing the taxi to the airport, giving tip about what to do .....). The location of the loft in Brooklyn is very good, just a five minutes walk to the subway connection directly to Manhatten and very quiet.
We wished we could have taken the loft (togehter with Roberta and Christian as hosts) for our continuing trip through Florida after our stay in New York.
Roberta and Christian were charming hosts, and their loft perfectly met our needs. (Actually, loft is a bit of a misnomer, as this is a separate apartment) The beds were comfortable, the kitchen tidy and well stocked, the linens, blankets and comforters clean and plentiful. The bathroom was wonderful, with both a bathtub/shower and a separate walk-in shower. Both had plentiful hot water for the 4 of us, as well as good water pressure. Soap, shampoo, and plenty of good quality towels were provided. Roberta brought us wonderful bagels each morning, and the refrigerator contained plenty of cream cheese and OJ when we arrived. A very nice touch!
There is a large (Sits 8) dining room table, futon sofa, two chairs, coffee table, and television w/ Roku available. Plenty of space for the four of us. Having the three bedrooms was wonderful, and at the price point I consider this property a steal!
The street is very nice, the buildings handsome and well maintained. It was very quiet, a huge plus in the city. There is street parking, as is typical with Brooklyn, so if you drive you have that issue to deal with. We flew into LaGuardia and taxied over (@ $30). There is also a wonderful car service that Roberta and Christian recommended.
As for the neighborhood, this area is nearer the edge of Bushwick, close to Queens, and not yet as "gentrified" as other parts of Brooklyn. You won't find the frenetic energy and blocks of shopping or cafes of Williamsburg here, if that's your thing. However, the area is very quiet, safe to walk (our experience) and has some real hidden gems (See Houdini's below). I also came away with the impression that this is an area ripe for rapid change, and that new shops and restaurants will be arriving soon. You can see the same dynamic in play here that you saw in Williamsburg 10 years ago.
We walked the neighborhood and always felt safe, as well as stumbled on some very fun shops and restaurants. We were 3 short blocks to the subway, with good access to Manhattan. Bodega's, small cafe's, an amazing, inexpensive grocery store were all within an easy walk. Definitely go to Houdini's Pizza...It's fantastic, quirky and close!
All in all I'd rate this a 9.5 out of 10, and I'm a strict grader. I knock off a 1/2 star because it's a bit further from Manhattan. However, it really wasn't a big issue.
Finally, I can't say enough about the hosts, Roberta and Christian. They live in the first level unit, and were gracious, kind, funny and a font of information about the area. We had one small issue with a faucet, and they had it repaired by the time we had returned that afternoon. Very responsible!

Christian and I are artists and community activists. We completely renovated the house in 2012 and love our life in Bushwick. We run a free art gallery out of the basement. We write up art shows and interview local artists for the neighborhood blog, Arts in Bushwick. Chris is a traditional photographer who especially likes pinhole photography and runs a darkroom. I sing jazz standards, paint, and renovate.
