Interaction with Guests
When I restored/renovated the house I had it divided into two private residences. I live in the other part with my well behaved 4 year old standard poodle named Lena Belle. You can contact me anytime by phone, text, email or in person. Relax & make yourself at home at Chez Momo.
Altamont is an exclusive neighbourhood in West Vancouver with estate properties & multimillion dollar homes. Walk along the water or up the side of the mountain winding past secluded estates & lush landscape. The Village of Dundarave - shops & restaurants are 5 blocks east plus the pier & seawall walk that will take you all the way to the Lions Gate bridge . . or stop on route in Ambleside for lunch etc. There are 3 lovely playgrounds for children along the beach. . 25th street next to the pier (concession stand), John Lawson Park* (at 17th next to the pier) recently created an award winning fantasy playground made from wood.. very interesting. Children love it! There is also Ambleside beach, skatepark, playground & beach volleyball . . & concessions. Closer to the Lions Gate bridge is the off leash dog park close to the swan pond where blue herons nest in the tall trees. Amazing prehistoric looking birds!
There is a single rail line that runs in-between the house and the water. It is not a big deal and people don't complain but you should be aware of it. In the summertime the Rocky Mountaineer passenger train goes up to Whistler in the morning and back down around dinner time. Otherwise there are infrequent trains including one or two at night that go by in one or two minutes. Part of the charm of beautiful West Vancouver. Eagles munch on salmon high up in the Douglas Fir trees. I once found a headless salmon in the front garden. I think it became detached mid flight :-( Quite the discovery. There are lots of birds around and the occasional racoon.
The bus picks up 2 doors down on Marine Drive & goes direct to downtown Vancouver in 30 minutes. You can also go west to Horseshoe Bay in 15 minutes. There are excellent bike rides in the area. Take a scenic drive west on Marine Drive to Light House Park, Whyltcliffe & Horseshoe Bay. The drive to Whistler is spectacular on the Sea to Sky Highway. It takes 1 hr & 23 minutes to drive from the house to Chateau Whistler. By car it takes 40-60 minutes to get to & from the house + airport depending on traffic. From the airport you can get to the house on public transit by taking the Canada Line downtown to Granville & Georgia and then get on the West Vancouver 'blue bus' number 250 Horseshoe Bay or the 254 Caulfield & get off at 30th & Marine. Cross the street & walk 2 houses west & you have arrived at Chez Momo!
Other Things to Note
Everyone loves Lighthouse Park - 20 blocks west of the house. Also the West Van Museum often has interesting exhibits with an emphasis on mid century modern art & architecture. The Capilano suspension bridge is popular. You can also hike all the way up along the Capilano River to the ClevelandDam at the top (Capilano Regional Park). Spectacular scenery & a good workout. Lynn Valley suspension bridge is also nice for an adventure. Avid hikers love the Grouse Grind .. direct up Grouse Mountain.. where you can see bears at the wildlife refuge.. In the summer there is the Shipyards Night Market on fridays from 5-10pm (may 1 - sept 25). The Ambleside Farmers Market is on Sundays from 11-4 on Bellevue in the 1500 block (between 15th + 16th) close to the water, Stop at Crema for a coffee or lunch.. sit outside & enjoy.

Maureen was an amazing host , her home was exactly what was explained in the description. Would highly recommend this home to anyone who loves a great view and very tidy and clean home. Thanks for the awesome accommodation for the weekend very happy with the results!
Chez Momo is located in great neighborhood of West Vancouver, quiet and peaceful, but not far away to get everything. The house was so clean and tidy just like a five-star hotel. Moreover, there was an incredible water view, fancy patio, and fully-equipped with everything.
Maureen was a thoughtful host. We arrived about 1 hour late at night, she was waiting us and welcomed us. She gave us personal space but stood by to give us any help on time. Lene Belle was a great host, too ; my kids loved her so much.
We were delighted with the house and our accommodation. Maureen made us feel very welcome. She was also a great source of information about the interesting history of the house and similar local architecture. House was spotless and tastefully decorated in the style of this house. It is also in a great area of west vancouver, near to shops but also close for beach walks and lighthouse park which was beautiful. Loved the garden we looked out onto but also had terrific view of the west side.
Great place. Great host. Great Dog!
Maureen is a nice person and the place is nicely located with a nice view over the Vancouver bay.
I knew when I saw the incredible photos of Chez Momo that that was the place I wanted to be at……and what a great time it was! What a treat to be in Maureen's beautiful garden with the old Fir and Cedar trees, with a gorgeous water view of Burard Inlet and be in such a specially designed Mid Century Modern classic home. I loved every day there exploring the wonderful nature surrounding Chez Momo and the sights of West Vancouver (and Vancouver.) There are so many great nature walks and hikes nearby including walking the shore line into the village of Dundarave. Maureen is a wonderful host who makes you feel at home the moment you meet her (and my new pal Lena Belle her lovely Poodle.) I cannot wait to go back and would look no further than Chez Momo for my next trip to Vancouver.
Maureen welcomed us with warmth despite our past midnight arrival.
It was a pleasure talking to her on few occasions, as she was very skillful in personalizing discussions. All our family members enjoyed her company and would go back to visit with her.
Bella, the poodle, was sweet and very well mannered.
The house is clean, well equipped.
Its architecture is sharp.
Staying at Chez MoMo was an amazingly serene and paradise-like environment. Maureen was very accommodating, friendly, warm and hospitable. The bedrooms have an incredible water view and the the patio is stunning with large trees. You can watch the boats, ships, ferries go by and the train! The property is very well maintained, the kitchen is fully equipped and overall everything is very clean. Its located close to restaurants, grocery stores and the aquatic center (which was an absolute hit with my children). I would highly recommend staying at Chez MoMo, it will definitely be on our list, next time we're in town. Thanks Maureen!
About the Host, Maureen
I enjoy spending time in the garden, doing yoga and travel. I love being with my Lena Belle (black standard poodle) on our adventures up in the hills & down at the beach. I like meeting guests who come to stay at Chez Momo : - ) Interests: art, architecture, nature, good food - wine + conversation.. On my travels I enjoy staying at Airbnb properties. I have made notes along the way to make sure I have everything one might want or need to feel comfortable + at home. I like to think Chez Momo is a special place for special people. So far everyone who has come to stay have been wonderful. It seems to be a favourite of architects, landscape designers, adventurers, artists, writers, musicians & modernist enthusiasts.
I love living in West Vancouver for it's close connection to nature. Every day is a beautiful day rain or shine :-)
