Upon your arrival I will greet you, give you the tour & the keys to Chez Momo. Enjoy the cover patio & stone stair case that leads you down to the enchanted forest & garden. There is level parking for one car. The driveway is shared with one other car with room for one additional visitor parking spot. Guests park on the east side of the driveway (left). There is a high efficiency washer/dryer located in the kitchen with natural HE detergent provided. In the storage room is an iron & board, drying racks, extra chairs, vacuum, recycling bags, box & the green bin for food waste. No food waste is allowed in the regular garbage in West Vancouver. Items from the green bin are picked up + composted . On the shelf is a bottle of bubbles for the little ones & a big ball to play with outside :)
Interaction with Guests
when I restored/renovated the house I had it divided into two private residences. I live in the other part with my well behaved 3.5 year old standard poodle named Lena Belle. sound proofing was installed so sound is not an issue (either way). You can contact me anytime by phone, text, email or in person. Relax, enjoy & make yourself at home at Chez Momo :)
Altamont is an exclusive neighbourhood in West Vancouver with estate properties & multimillion dollar homes. Walk along the water or up the side of the mountain winding past secluded estates & lush landscape. The Village of Dundarave - shops & restaurants are 5 blocks east along with the pier & seawall walk that will take you all the way to the Lions Gate bridge . . or stop on route in Ambleside for lunch etc. There are 3 lovely playgrounds for children along the beach. . 25th street next to the pier (concession stand), John Lawson Park* (at 17th next to the pier) recently created an award winning fantasy playground made from wood etc.. very interesting. Children love it! There is also Ambleside beach, skatepark, playground & beach volleyball . . & concessions. Closer to the Lions Gate bridge is the off leash dog park close to the swan pond where blue herons nest in the tall trees. Amazing prehistoric looking birds!
There is a single rail line that runs in-between the house and the water. It is not a big deal and people don't complain but you should be aware of it. In the summertime the Rocky Mountaineer passenger train goes up to Whistler in the morning and back down around dinner time. Otherwise there are infrequent trains including one or two at night that go by in one or two minutes. Part of the charm of beautiful West Vancouver. Eagles munch on seafood high up in the Douglas Fir trees, you can hear their cries. I once found a headless salmon in the front garden. I think it became detached mid flight :-( It was quite the discovery.
the bus picks up 2 doors down on Marine Drive & goes direct to downtown Vancouver in 30 minutes. you can also go west to Horseshoe Bay in 15 minutes. there are excellent bike rides in the area. take a scenic drive west on Marine Drive to Light House Park, Whyltcliffe & Horseshoe Bay. the drive to Whistler is spectacular on the Sea to Sky Highway. By car it takes 35-50 minutes to get from the house to the airport depending on traffic. From the airport you can get to the house on public transit by taking the Canada Line downtown to Granville & Georgia and then get on the West Vancouver 'blue bus' number 250 Horseshoe Bay or the 254 Caulfield & get off at 30th & marine. cross the street & walk 2 houses west & you have arrived at Chez Momo!
Other Things to Note
Everyone loves Lighthouse Park - 20 blocks west of the house. Also the West Van Museum often has interesting exhibits with an emphasis on mid century modern art & architecture. people like the Capilano suspension bridge. You can also hike all the way up along the Capilano River to the Hoover Dam at the top (Capilano Regional Park). Spectacular scenery & a good workout. Lynn Valley suspension bridge is also nice for an adventure. Avid hikers love the Grouse Grind .. direct up Grouse Mountain.. where you can see bears at the wildlife refuge..
So many things to do..

Have a fabulous stay!
The accommodation than Maureen presented on airbnb is exactly what you get and more. Maureen was so helpful and her apartment so well equipped with everything. It was within walking distance to a great community equipped with coffee shops and a supermarket and we would thoroughly recommend this accommodation. Maureen was the perfect host. It was nice and close to public transport as well. Our only disappointment was that we didn't just spend more time in the accommodation and relax as that is exactly what you can do there.
This place was perfect for us. We loved the ocean and garden views, location, and the host was great.Maureen did everything to make us feel comfortable.I would stay here again without a moments hesitation.Overall experience 5 star.
Maurer welcomed us with a big smile and plenty of great stories. Everything you could want at home is provided right down to organic soaps. The property is well kept and location is prime with great ocean views. Would not hesitate to stay again.
Maureen was super responsive to all messages before and during our 3 day stay and left great directions via writing and tips regarding restaurants and things to do in the area.
The house was perfect in every way. The views of the ocean and the garden with the overgrown ferns made looking out of the windows a feast for the eyes. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you would need and more. We loved our stay and will definitely visit Chez Momo again.
Our 3 week stay at Chez Momo was truly fantastic...we loved it and felt immediately at home. The apartment is beautiful and spacious with a fabulous outdoor area (with access to the gorgeous garden) and in a perfect location for West Van. It also contained everything you could possibly ever need which was amazing! Maureen, the host, is so lovely, super friendly and helpful and provided lots of information on local walks and places of interest. This was our first experience using Arbnb and I couldn't rate it high enough as the accommodation was superb. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in West Van, this is the place to book!
The location was wonderful, with a pleasant view of Burrard Inlet. The architecture and history of the house was interesting as explained by our host, Maureen. The construction has preserved the trees on the property. The proximity to the village at 24th street made it convenient. We walked and ran the vicinity, including a run on the sea wall of West Vcr. There is a train track immediately next to the house and some people might be bothered by the occasional train going by. It did not diminish our enjoyment of this house. The living area is ideal for 2 couples travelling together. There was plenty of equipment for us to have done all of our own cooking. The outdoor seating area is a pleasant feature. Maureen was pleasant and helpful and responded to calls, and we enjoyed Lena Belle (3 year old poodle) as well. This was our first experience with airbnb and we would definitely try it again, and attempt to stay at the same place if we were visiting West Vcr.
I enjoy spending time in the garden, doing yoga and travel. I love being with my Lena Belle (black standard poodle) on our adventures up in the hills & down at the beach. I like meeting guests who come to stay at Chez Momo. Interests: art, architecture, nature, good food - wine + conversation.. On my travels I enjoy staying at Airbnb properties. I have made notes along the way to make sure I have everything one might want or need to feel comfortable + at home. I like to think it is a special place for special people. So far everyone who has come to stay have been fantastic. It seems to be a favourite of architects, landscape designers, adventurers, artists, musicians & modernist enthusiasts :)
I love living in West Vancouver for it's connection to natural & serenity.
