About this listing
Come to Austin and enjoy my great one bedroom condo. It includes a futon in the living room that folds out into a pretty comfy bed, wifi and cable. The condo is close to ACL Fest, Barton Springs, Zilker Park, South Lamar and South First and South Congress shopping and entertainment areas. There are LOTS of great restaurants, bars and parks within walking distance. It comfortably accommodates 2.
On site, there is plenty of parking, coin operated washers and dryers, and a great front deck and back yard area to relax after a day of taking in Austin. Smoking in these outdoor areas is ok.
Transportation is pretty easy as well. If you aren’t going to have access to a car, there is a city bus stop three blocks down at Bluebonnet and Lamar that runs every 45 minutes. There are a couple of bike rental places close to the condo as well. Austin has a great reputation for its bike friendly streets and bike trails. Catching the Hike and Bike trail (about 1 mile from the condo) is a great, car-free way to get around since it makes a loop through the heart of downtown. (If you are interested in that, let me know and I’ll leave a note with tips on how to get there and what is just off the trail to do and see). And, as mentioned above, the condo is also located close enough to walk to a lot of great restaurants, bars and venues as well. Thanks!
No smoking inside the condo. If you are a smoker, please go to the front deck or backyard to smoke. Thanks. No parties. Please respect the neighbors.
This was a great place to stay during the SXSW conference! When I arrived, Kristi had very thoughtfully stocked the kitchen with some of my favorite breakfast foods, which lasted the entire length of my stay. Plus, she provided every toiletry you could possibly need!
This neighborhood is very quiet at night, and the apartment stays cool on on warm days. The hot water is a little touchy; when I couldn't get it to work, I just waited a few minutes and tried again...that did the trick.
If you plan to use the bus, note that you'll have to walk about a half mile to the nearest stop on South Lamar.
Overall, I had a great time here and I would definitely come back! Thanks, Kristi!
Kristi was very hospitable and represented her place truthfully. The location was excellent... Short distance from some local hangs, $6 cab ride from SOCO and a $12 cab ride from downtown Austin. Would definitely go back! Thanks Kristi.
We made a last minute decision to come to Austin for a weekend away, and ideally we wanted to take along our dog. Most places couldn't accommodate us on short notice, but Kristi did so we were grateful. It was such short notice that we didn't get any goodies in the refrigerator or perks like that, but the place was still very tidy. It is a small, utilitarian space, perfect for relaxing after a long day of touring Austin by foot. Little Zilker park is just across the street and the surrounding neighborhood is quite charming and active with cyclists, pedestrians and families out and about.
We had such a nice time at Kristi's condo! The place was beautiful and in a fun area of town. We spent our first night just exploring the neighborhood and spent the next morning eating breakfast that Kristi had left for us. We were also able to easily walk downtown and cab back late at night for just about $10. Public transit from there was easy and hailing a cab was as simple as walking 3-4 blocks.
Accommodations were even better than expected. Neighbourhood and location was IDEAL for Austin City Limits and checking out South Austin.
Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Austin.
Kristi made my first Airbnb stay a great one. Her condo is extremely well-kept and she left so many considerate touches to ensure we'd have an awesome trip---walking directions to the park (we were in town for ACL Fest), a map of the neighborhood, nice fluffy towels, even snacks and essentials in the fridge, just to name a few! Wonderful place, wonderful host, highly recommended.
Perfect place to stay! So close to the Lamar bus, easy to get downtown and around. Kristi is right, the Irie Bean coffee shop is a great way to start the day.
About the Host, Kristi
Hey! I'm a middle school teacher who has lived in Austin off and on for the last 15 years. I travel mostly to the East Coast every year to visit family, but I've also been to New Zealand, Macedonia and Albania. I have a sweet little cat named Lily. Couldn't live without her... she'll be staying with me when you visit. : ) I've been really happy for the last 6 years in my condo in the Zilker neighborhood. It is just so close to so many cool Austin restaurants and recreational things. Can't beat it. Thought I'd share it with visitors. Hope you enjoy it!
