I intended to stay here for 2 days but prolonged my stay for another week because i enjoyed this place so much! The nature is just beautiful and there is a lot to explore on the huge land. The cabin i stayed in was comfortable and so the bed which has a mosquito net (big plus!). There's also an equipped kitchen with a little stove where i enjoyed cooking almost everyday. The Houses are located on the top of a hill and the view of the bays are just breathtaking, the hike down to the Rio Grande was very nice too (ask Sharlene or Derick for directions they are very helpful in every way!). Will definitely come here again one day:)

I stayed at Derrick's studio property. It was a cute little spot in the back of the woods. The roof is not sealed so you can get an array of visitors such as lizards or ants or moths. If you are an all-inclusive type of person or want something luxurious, this is not the place for you. However, the place is charming, it has hot water in the shower, had cooking pots, plates, gas stove and dish detergent. It also included towels. The time I spent there, it was raining but that is Portland as I've heard Jamaicans talk about it. Now....the most challenging part was getting there in the rain. You have to cross a stream (with ur car) and it was raining hard that we couldn't cross it so we had to wait until school was over so we can cut through their gate. Also, the mountains are steep, the road needs work but if you have a high car (meaning not a lowered sports car like we did), you will be fine. If you took the taxi from the property to town it is about $10. It's about a 15-20 minute drive. I would recommend this place (not the studio) for families with an SUV and those who enjoy nature. The views and atmosphere is unbeatable. Despite the rough drive and rainy weather we had, Derrick was very accommodating and kept apologizing for things he had no control over. He just wants you to have a good time. Anything he can do to make you feel comfortable (like tow our car down), he is willing to do. Thanks Derrick! The pool is clean you might want to just bring groceries and enjoy your time in this tranquil environment.

This was our fourth visit to Derick & Sherene's paradise on Shotover Hill above Port Antonio. We spent three nights in the small cabin, which has a full sized bed,a small fridge, two gas burners for cooking, plates and utensils are in the little kitchen for your use. The bathroom had a nice shower with hot and cold water (yes!) And you also have a private little veranda on which we enjoyed sitting and watching the birds and the beautiful views of the mountains! The pool was clean as always and our hosts even grilled singe chicken for us and made us some rum punch (Sherene makes the best!). Out stay was very relaxing and pleasant and we can't wait to come back again.

Derrick's place is a marvelous place. We were with 5 persons and had the cottage which has a beautifull vieuw on the blue mountains and humming birds next to the terrasse. We also slept in the cabin which is very basic. Espacially with the rain we had was it minimum. But Derrick is very helpfull brought us to the raft place and picked us up at the end. Super. The way up you really need a good car.

Derick and Shrene's place is peace itself. You arrive in shotover garden and voila. You have gained peace of your heart. They are friendly and layback. You have the ocean, endless green, and the mountain as your neighber. A bit far from town but that's the thing that makes this place so peaceful and all. We stayed here about a month and the time passed like the sputtering of the hummingbird who visited us everymorning. Heaven.
