Interaction with Guests
If I am not here, my parents are. I also have a very nice friend that is on alert for any special needs.
Of course there is several local pubs to meet everyone. Not a lot of houses around, but any neighbor here will help with whatever ya may need. And they are beyond friendly. Lots of animal lovers with donkeys, horses, sheep, cows etc.
It is the country, however there is a taxi man that lives near bye, bus service from Dungloe.
Other Things to Note
Electric and fuel is on meters and is payed by you on departure. I did not include it on the rental price as this works out less expensive for the guest.
I just ask that you leave it as you found it, and if something needs repaired for the next guest ,please let me know. Thank you
Paticia's Irish Cottage is a pearl, a real gem. We could only stay for one night, but we will definitely return. Communications with Patricia were friendly and efficient and we had a very warm welcome on our arrival. The drive there takes one through stunning landscapes and the views from the cottage are equally gorgeous. The cottage is roomy and bright with everything that one could need from comfy beds to fully appointed kitchen. Thank you Patricia!
Patricia was there to welcome us when we arrived and gave us helpful information about the cottage and the local area. The cottage is in a beautiful setting - about 7 km from Dungloe but with other scattered cottages, so you don't feel entirely isolated. The views from every window are fantastic - including the small loch opposite the property and the hills and sea inlet in the distance.
The cottage is very well equipped and it feels new and clean. Patricia had made up a fire in the grate for us (there is also oil fired heating) and we appreciated the OS maps of the area which she provided for guests to use. The weather was wet and windy for part of our stay, but we did feel warm in the cottage - the heating (paid separately) was effective at warming the place quickly.
If you want to explore the Donegal coast and enjoy being outdoors, this is the place to go
Patricia's house is really lovely set in a very rugged but beautiful landscape. It is a very much an 'away from it all' kind of place - the road outside the house has grass growing up the middle - so that tells it's own story. If you want to escape the hustle of busy of city life this is definitely the place for you. The area has beautiful walks - Crohy Head is spectacular - the day we walked it (c.2 hours) we met 1 cyclist, 1 runner and 1 car!!)The area has great beaches too - the local one in Maghery is very good but there are others within a reasonable drive.
The house itself is perfectly appointed - light filled with beautiful views from evey window - a place I'd be happy to live in all year around. It has a range of great furniture for lounging and reading and is perfectly equipped for cooking. Trish even provides a DVD player and DVD's!
Eating out in the area can be hit and miss but we would recommend The Midway Bar in Dungloe for very good food.
Patricia is a great host. She supplied us with a lovely well equipped venue for a weeks break in a very scenic and quiet part of rural Ireland - what more could we ask for. Would love to go back some day.
Trish's cottage on the Salt Lough exceeded our expectations. It was quite charming, fully equipped, had all that was promised as well as wi fi which kept us in touch with family and friends. The locale, although rural, was not isolated with abundant shopping available, traditional music and restaurants/pubs nearby. It was an ideal jumping off place for day trips on the coast, inland, out to the islands or ito Northern Ireland.
Donegal is a magical wild and wonderful place. You can hunker down at Trish's cottage for days by the fire, take walks, bike, visit the beach, explore the area or just read, watch video, or entertain. If you want or need it, Trish or her family will make it work. The family was a valued un-advertised positive addition to our experience. She and they exemplify Ireland's legendary hospitality. Donegal embraces the best of what remains of Old Ireland yet with all the amenities that anyone would want. No crowds, the freshest of air, excellent cuisine, quintessential Irish pubs, antiquities, superb vistas, lovely and welcoming locals - who could ask for more?
From the time we were welcomed by the warmth of her cottage fire until we regretfully returned to the hectic pace of urban life, we truly cherished our personal and unique Irish experience.

We enjoyed the stunning views of the loch and out to the sea from Trish's cottage. A great base to explore County Donegal from. Trish was in contact on the phone before our stay and as we arrived to make sure we found it ok.
Trisha welcomed us to her beautiful home, the fire was lit and the house was very cosy, she gave us two recommendations; a walk in the area and a local pub, we tried both activities and had a wonderful time. The house was warm and we had everything we needed, there are instructions laid out for every practical eventuality in the cottage. The surroundings are rugged, the location is very private and the turf fire was the best of all. I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay here.
The cottage fully corresponded to our expectations and Patricia was a good host - guiding us friendly per SMS before and during our stay. Unfortunately we were not very lucky with the weather during our 2 days in Dungloe and could therefore not fully explore the breathtaking nature.
