About this listing
Modern 3 bedroom & 2 bathroom top floor unit in Bernal Heights that can sleep 6 comfortably. 2 living rooms, a gourmet kitchen, dining room & backyard. 1 block walk from the Mission district & 3 blocks from Holly Park & cute main street in Bernal.
This top floor home is part of a 2 unit unique San Francisco house built in 1908. The floors are the original hardwood and still in gorgeous condition. The home is located in the Bernal Heights district of San Francisco, one of the sunny districts, and we are lucky to get a lot of natural sunlight and warmth.
My Favorite Part of The House:
- Other than the sunlight, I love that you can walk to the Mission District and Bernal Heights (great restaurants) in just moments. We also have the MUNI bus line running right down Cortland so it's easy to get anywhere in San Francisco!
The house consists of:
- 3 bedrooms (master bedroom has a King size bed, 2nd bedroom has a CA King and 3rd bedroom has full size bed)
- 2 full bathrooms
- 2 living rooms
- dining area
- a laundry room
What You Have Access To:
This is my home when I am not traveling for the non-profit I work for so you will have access to everything you might need. Let me know if there is something specific that is not listed and I am happy to let you know if I have it.
-Cable TV (including HBO and Showtime)
-Home phone line
-Full kitchen (including dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster oven, VitaMix and coffee machine)
-Dining room and dinnerware
- Anything else you might need -ask me, I probably have it or can make it available
- Baby Pack n Play
-Gate to cover staircase for kids
Unfortunately no parking is available but parking is easier in Bernal Heights compared to most parts of San Francisco. That being said, parking can be difficult at times in the evenings when people are coming home from work or coming to the neighborhood for the restaurant scene. I would recommend renting a smaller car rather than a large car if an option. You will usually be able to find parking within 1- 2 blocks of the home. Parking is free on most streets except for the main street in Bernal Heights and Mission Street during the day.
Interaction with Guests
How To Reach Me:
I will not be present during your stay but my close friends live in the separate unit/home downstairs so if you have any questions or problems they are available. The home is a San Francisco Victorian-style home with 2 units. My home (where you will stay) is the upstairs unit and there is also a downstairs unit/home where 2 close friends (owners of the house) live. You will likely not see them (unless in passing at the separate front doors) but they are available if you have any urgent questions/needs.
You can always reach me on email or my cell phone.
The Neighborhood Bernal Heights
I have been in San Francisco for 13 years and been lucky to live in different places around the city. Bernal is my FAVORITE neighborhood - it is sunny, has beautiful views, nice people, amazing cafes, restaurants and bars. Not to mention, it's a 2 minute walk to the Mission which is an incredible world of it's own.
The walk to Bernal Heights park and 360 views of San Francisco is less than 10 minutes and one of my favorite panoramic views of SF.
Check out the info about Bernal Heights here:
This neighborhood was just voted the "Hottest" (as in coolest) neighborhood to move to in the United States for 2014. You can check out the article on Red Fin.
Getting Around The House:
Public Transportation is really easy from the house... Muni/BART: The 24 Divisadero and 67 Bernal Heights both intersect Cortland Ave.You can use the bus line to connect anywhere in the city or to BART
I will leave maps and books about San Francisco for your use.
Other Things to Note
Other Things To Note:
Noise/Parties: If you are looking for a place to party or stay up super late at night, this is not the best place for you. Bernal Heights is more of a family and working professionals community so the neighbors are not happy about late nights or parties that keep them awake. Sorry!
Children: If you have children, I do have a baby play pen that is available for your use. Let me know.
Dogs: If you or one of your guests has a severe dog allergy, this might not be the ideal place. Although the place is extremely clean, I do have dogs visit the place when I am home and dogs live in the house downstairs.
Security: I have an ADT security system in the home - you can secure the home while you are in it or while you are away. My street and Bernal Heights is very safe but at the end of the day, San Francisco is still a city and unfortunately crime has not completely disappeared.
This is my full-time home and I hope you love it and care for it like I do. I hope my home provides you the same incredible experience I have in San Francisco and gives you the chance to fall in love with the "city by the bay".
Just a few things to remember:
- Please NO SMOKING (in the house or in the backyard)
- Please no pets
- Please respect the home like it's your own
- Please no parties or guests that were not agreed to in our reservation
- If you are going to stay up later and talk, please do so in the living room next to the kitchen (it is not located above/next to the bedroom of neighbors).
Don't hesitate to call me with any questions or if there is anything you need.
About the Host, Michelle
Here are a few of the ways I would describe myself - Yoga Instructor, International Public Health Worker, Hiking Enthusiast, Humanitarian, Adventurer and Nature Lover.
I grew up in Arizona and fell in love with travel and the discovery of new cultures at an early age. I've lived in San Francisco for 13 years and no matter where I travel, I always love coming back to this incredible city.
I work for Operation Rainbow, a non-profit that provides free surgical care to impoverished children in the developing world. I am fortunate to travel a lot with the medical missions and joined Airbnb so that when I am away, other travelers can benefit from my wonderful home in San Francisco. My hope is that staying at home will help you fall in love with San Francisco as much as I have over the years.
If I had to use one quote to describe why I love travel and sharing my home on Airbnb, here's what I would say: “Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard
