About this listing
This large real 2-bedroom with high ceilings feels more like a home than an apartment. Enjoy the flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod connection. In an elevator building across the street from 4 subway lines to Manhattan, cafes and bars.
You will share a cozy but BIG space with me but the bedrooms are on separate sides of the apartment for additional privacy. The large kitchen is equipped with Calphalon pots and pans, a large oven and everything you need to make your own meals. The living/dining room area is large and comes equipped with a large flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod/ i-phone connection.
Guests have access to the whole apartment (except my room) - bathroom, kitchen and living room.
Interaction with Guests
I will stay out of your way and leave you to your adventures. I am a very busy professional, but I am happy to help guests navigate the city and to make their stay as comfortable as possible. I really love Brooklyn and am happy to orient my guests to Brooklyn and New York City.
Whether you want to get to know a less touristy part of New York City in an area of Brooklyn with a neighborhood feel or are looking for a launching pad to explore the popular sites in Manhattan, this apartment is perfectly situated for either with super easy subway access and walking distance to some of Brooklyn's biggest attractions like the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park (now with a new ice skating rink) and Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Crown Heights is an incredibly diverse, vibrant neighborhood with everything from Starbucks to cheap authentic Jamaican food. There are many new trendy shops, cafes, and bars. Located on a tree-lined pedestrian mall with a bike lane and benches, walk easily to Brooklyn's main attractions in and around Grand Army Plaza.
Make sure to get a cupcake from Lily and Fig bakery and a roti from a Trinidadian restaurant while in the neighborhood. My block and building have plenty of old time Brooklyn folks who were born and raised in the neighborhood, so there is a real community feel.
You can see the subway stop across the street from the living room and bedroom windows. Getting around couldn't be easier than walking out the door to access express trains 2/3/4/5 serving the east and west sides of Manhattan, as well as the shuttle servicing other areas of Brooklyn. Barclay's Center is one stop away and less than 5 minutes. Be in downtown Manhattan in 15 minutes. JFK International Airport is about 25 minutes by taxi.
Other Things to Note
I use a cafe 2 blocks from my apartment to exchange the keys. It is open 7AM - 9PM. If you will be arriving outside of this timeframe, please ask me before booking so I can let you know if I will be available or not.
I ask all my guests to verify their passport through Airbnb before making a reservation. I give guests all the information about the apartment before they arrive. It's mostly about recycling and what goes where.
Kristens home had a really good location, literally right next to the subway station. The apartment is on the first floor and theres an elevator. The room is pretty big and spacious enough for 2 people. The keycafe was convenient and easy, 5mins from the apartment. We saw Kristen a few times during our stay but she was out most of the time. We had a few lovely conversations with her but she mostly tried to stay out of her way and was very respective of our privacy. What we would have appreciated though would have been a short tour of the apartment to ie explain how the shower works. We can def recommend the apartment for a trip to NY due to its convenient location!
The room was accurately portrayed in the picture. The location was great because it was so close to the subway.
Kristen was very helpful and really made me feel at home. The room and the apartment in general are spacious and comfortable, and the neighbourhood is great. I loved to be so near to the Prospect Park and to the subway station. Thank you, Kristen!
Thank you Kristen for sharing your home, offering a large separate air-conditioned bedroom, and allowing me to drop off my luggage before check-in and leave it after checkout. The location was ideal within just a few blocks of the two things I most wanted to visit--the botanical garden and the Brooklyn Museum. Fabulous proximity to 4 subway lines just across the street, and all the happening restaurants on Franklin Avenue (and nearby Washington Ave.) too. All at Very reasonable rates. Also grateful for the elevator when moving my suitcase.
My brother and I really enjoyed our stay with Kristen! Kristen was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and we were happy that we could use the kitchen! The apartment is perfectly located in a very nice area of Brooklyn only 15-20 min. from Manhattan downtown. We found it quiet even if the room is facing the street.
Kristen hatte mir in ihren E-Mails vorher angeboten, mir New York zu zeigen.
Kristen was a cordial host, the neighborhood was fine, very busy, the room was as advertised and comfortable. those who can't sleep with a somewhat street noisy background might not do so well here. but I did fine with earplugs.
the place was clean.
thanks to Kristen.
