About This Listing
This large real 2-bedroom with high ceilings feels more like a home than an apartment. Enjoy the flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod connection. In an elevator building across the street from 4 subway lines to Manhattan, cafes and bars.
You will share a cozy but BIG space with me but the bedrooms are on separate sides of the apartment for additional privacy. The large kitchen is equipped with Calphalon pots and pans, a large oven and everything you need to make your own meals. The living/dining room area is large and comes equipped with a large flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod/ i-phone connection.
Guests have access to the whole apartment (except my room) - bathroom, kitchen and living room.
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting people from different places and I speak Spanish, a little bit of Portuguese and Catalan so happy to help out however I can. I really love Brooklyn and am happy to orient my guests to Brooklyn and New York City. If you prefer to do your own thing, I'm happy to stay out of the way as well.
***I ask all my guests to verify their passport through Airbnb before making a reservation.
Whether you want to get to know a less touristy part of New York City in an area of Brooklyn with a neighborhood feel or are looking for a launching pad to explore the popular sites in Manhattan, this apartment is perfectly situated for either with super easy subway access and walking distance to some of Brooklyn's biggest attractions like the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park (now with a new ice skating rink) and Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Crown Heights is an incredibly diverse, vibrant neighborhood with everything from Starbucks to cheap authentic Jamaican food. There are many new trendy shops, cafes, and bars. Located on a tree-lined pedestrian mall with a bike lane and benches, walk easily to Brooklyn's main attractions in and around Grand Army Plaza.
Make sure to get a cupcake from Lily and Fig bakery and a roti from a Trinidadian restaurant while in the neighborhood. My block and building have plenty of old time Brooklyn folks who were born and raised in the neighborhood, so there is a real community feel.
You can see the subway stop across the street from the living room and bedroom windows. Getting around couldn't be easier than walking out the door to access express trains 2/3/4/5 serving the east and west sides of Manhattan, as well as the shuttle servicing other areas of Brooklyn. Barclay's Center is one stop away and less than 5 minutes. Be in downtown Manhattan in 15 minutes. JFK International Airport is about 25 minutes by taxi.
I ask all my guests to verify their passport through Airbnb before making a reservation. I give guests all the information about the apartment before they arrive. It's mostly about recycling and what goes where.
Kristen's apartment was just perfect for my needs - steps to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where my friends were getting married. The room was private and comfortable. Kristen was very responsive/attentive to my needs throughout my stay and made me feel at home in her home! I would stay again next time I visit Brooklyn.
We stayed at Kristen's place for a long weekend and it was a great location for getting around both Brooklyn and NYC. The subway is literally right at her corner, and her place is located in an up and coming area of Brooklyn that has a great neighbourhood vibe without being crazy and crowded like Williamsburg.
The room is very large and has a huge closet for stowing things. Kristen also gives you some space in the shared bathroom for your stuff. The only thing to be aware of is the street noise. If you're a light sleeper this may not be the place for you as the window is next to a busy street. We're happy to recommend Kristen's room to anyone needing a place to stay in Brooklyn.
Kristen was away during the beginning of the stay so she made arrangements to pick up the keys using Key Cafe which involved going to a nearby coffee shop to check in and pick up the keys. The apartment was very conveniently looked to a very nearby subway station. The bedroom was very spacious although she has changed the furniture a bit from the picture. Everything was great with the apartment and there were numerous nearby restaurants around Franklin Avenue, including the Morris Sandwich Shop and Butter&Scotch (Drinks and Deserts). In addition the apartment is very close to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and Prospect Park.
This was the first time I used airbub for solo travel for a work trip while the host was also in the space. My husband was convinced that I was going to end up in a ditch with my kidneys removed. Fortunately, my actual experience completely exceeded my expectations. Kristen was an excellent host. She was personable and a pleasure to talk with while offering my the privacy to complete work in the evening. The other tenants in the building are extremely friendly and there are many dining options within walking distance. I would absolutely recommend staying with Kristen.
The place was super clean, the rooms were all quite large and Kristen was always very helpful and kind. Great experience! I highly suggest checking out the Farmers market at Prospect park on Saturdays just down the street. And there's also roller skating rentals and I think a disco on Friday nights in the park by the pond as well. It's good for an off-beat Brooklyn experience. Also go to Red Hook (Kristen knows whats up).
I stayed with Kristen for two weeks. The appartment is well located in Brooklyn. The subway is very close with three different train lines to choose between. Brooklyn museum, the botanical gardens and Prospect park with farmers market are all within walking distance. The room is large, nicely furnished and clean. The radiators made some noice, but only for a short while in the morning. Kristen is a nice host, answering my many questions. I felt comfortable using the kitchen. Check-in and -out was also very good. I was welcome to store my bags before and after. Cleaning in bathroom and kitchen was ok, but not more. The WiFi worked perfectly. I recommend staying at Kristens apartment. It's a good location for exploring Brooklyn and Manhattan.
