This large real 2-bedroom with high ceilings feels more like a home than an apartment. Enjoy the flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod connection. In an elevator building across the street from 4 subway lines to Manhattan, cafes and bars.
You will share a cozy but BIG space with me but the bedrooms are on separate sides of the apartment for additional privacy. The large kitchen is equipped with Calphalon pots and pans, a large oven and everything you need to make your own meals. The living/dining room area is large and comes equipped with a large flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod/ i-phone connection.
Guests have access to the whole apartment (except my room) - bathroom, kitchen and living room.
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting people from different places and I speak Spanish, a little bit of Portuguese and Catalan so happy to help out however I can. I really love Brooklyn and am happy to orient my guests to Brooklyn and New York City. If you prefer to do your own thing, I'm happy to stay out of the way as well.
***I ask all my guests to verify their passport through Airbnb before making a reservation.
Whether you want to get to know a less touristy part of New York City in an area of Brooklyn with a neighborhood feel or are looking for a launching pad to explore the popular sites in Manhattan, this apartment is perfectly situated for either with super easy subway access and walking distance to some of Brooklyn's biggest attractions like the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park (now with a new ice skating rink) and Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Crown Heights is an incredibly diverse, vibrant neighborhood with everything from Starbucks to cheap authentic Jamaican food. There are many new trendy shops, cafes, and bars. Located on a tree-lined pedestrian mall with a bike lane and benches, walk easily to Brooklyn's main attractions in and around Grand Army Plaza.
Make sure to get a cupcake from Lily and Fig bakery and a roti from a Trinidadian restaurant while in the neighborhood. My block and building have plenty of old time Brooklyn folks who were born and raised in the neighborhood, so there is a real community feel.
You can see the subway stop across the street from the living room and bedroom windows. Getting around couldn't be easier than walking out the door to access express trains 2/3/4/5 serving the east and west sides of Manhattan, as well as the shuttle servicing other areas of Brooklyn. Barclay's Center is one stop away and less than 5 minutes. Be in downtown Manhattan in 15 minutes. JFK International Airport is about 25 minutes by taxi.
I ask all my guests to verify their passport through Airbnb before making a reservation. I give guests all the information about the apartment before they arrive. It's mostly about recycling and what goes where.
Kristen is a great host, made me feel welcome and at home in her lovely and specious apartment. The room was large and comfortable, the flat literally steps away from subway.
The house is a little old but super cozy! During my stay, Kirsten was out of town so she gave me the whole apartment, it was awesome! TV, couch, comfortable bed, anything I could ask for. There is subway station just outside the place and it's 30mins from Manhattan. I guess the only issue is that the heater is pretty noise during night.
Kristen's apartment was very spacious, light, and right next to the subway as described. The bed was also very comfortable and she was actually away so I had the apt to myself for 3 nights which was wonderful. The shower is a little cramped, but fine for a seasoned traveler who is out and about as I was. Kristen is easy to communicate with and key pickup and drop off very easy. thank you!
The reservation was canceled 34 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Kristen is a really nice host. She immediately explained everything to know about the apartment and has a couple of maps and information on New York in case her guests don't have a plan upon arrival. She wanted to make us comfortable at any time, even borrowed me a hat and gloves as it was colder than expected. The room was as described, really big and cozy. The neighborhood is really nice, the subway only a few steps from the apartment, which is ideal after a long day exploring the city. Brooklyn has everything you can possibly want. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay with Kristen again!
Kristen is such an awesome host! She was attentive and made us feel welcome! Kristen makes her guests feel at home and she even provides recommendations of local sights, restaurants, attractions around the neighborhood. Location is extremely close to subways and I had no issues getting from Manhattan to Brooklyn. I highly recommend staying at her place if anyone is planning on staying in Brooklyn. Overall would definitely come back again for my next NYC trip!
Kristen made me feel welcome and at home in her spacious Brooklyn apartment. The room was even bigger than it appeared in the photos, and I felt welcome in the kitchen and the living room as well. She offered her help without being intrusive. I was in exactly the neighborhood I had hoped for, only a seven minute walk to the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Garden, right next to the subway and many shops, cafes and restaurants. I soon felt at home, and enjoyed my two week stay with Kristen!
