About this listing
This large real 2-bedroom with high ceilings feels more like a home than an apartment. Enjoy the flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod connection. In an elevator building across the street from 4 subway lines to Manhattan, cafes and bars.
You will share a cozy but BIG space with me but the bedrooms are on separate sides of the apartment for additional privacy. The large kitchen is equipped with Calphalon pots and pans, a large oven and everything you need to make your own meals. The living/dining room area is large and comes equipped with a large flat screen TV and Bose speakers with i-pod/ i-phone connection.
Guests have access to the whole apartment (except my room) - bathroom, kitchen and living room.
Interaction with Guests
I will stay out of your way and leave you to your adventures. I am a very busy professional, but I am happy to help guests navigate the city and to make their stay as comfortable as possible. I really love Brooklyn and am happy to orient my guests to Brooklyn and New York City.
Whether you want to get to know a less touristy part of New York City in an area of Brooklyn with a neighborhood feel or are looking for a launching pad to explore the popular sites in Manhattan, this apartment is perfectly situated for either with super easy subway access and walking distance to some of Brooklyn's biggest attractions like the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park (now with a new ice skating rink) and Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Crown Heights is an incredibly diverse, vibrant neighborhood with everything from Starbucks to cheap authentic Jamaican food. There are many new trendy shops, cafes, and bars. Located on a tree-lined pedestrian mall with a bike lane and benches, walk easily to Brooklyn's main attractions in and around Grand Army Plaza.
Make sure to get a cupcake from Lily and Fig bakery and a roti from a Trinidadian restaurant while in the neighborhood. My block and building have plenty of old time Brooklyn folks who were born and raised in the neighborhood, so there is a real community feel.
You can see the subway stop across the street from the living room and bedroom windows. Getting around couldn't be easier than walking out the door to access express trains 2/3/4/5 serving the east and west sides of Manhattan, as well as the shuttle servicing other areas of Brooklyn. Barclay's Center is one stop away and less than 5 minutes. Be in downtown Manhattan in 15 minutes. JFK International Airport is about 25 minutes by taxi.
Other Things to Note
I use a cafe 2 blocks from my apartment to exchange the keys. It is open 7AM - 9PM. If you will be arriving outside of this timeframe, please ask me before booking so I can let you know if I will be available or not.
I ask all my guests to verify their passport through Airbnb before making a reservation. I give guests all the information about the apartment before they arrive. It's mostly about recycling and what goes where.
When I arrived, there was a welcome in the kitchen. I received all the information I needed a couple days before arriving (travel directions/recommendations, internet password, key cafe information). The room was everything described in the listing – very spacious, comfortable bed, closet space, space in the bathroom cabinet for my stuff. Navigating the city was really easy because the apartment is literally steps from the subway. There’s coffee places and a few restaurants nearby. The key cafe is only a couple blocks away, it was easy to navigate and nice – I worked there a couple of hours one afternoon. I can’t wait to stay again next time I’m in the area.
Kristen's apartment is located in Crown Heights and close to Prospect Park in Brooklyn, I spent a long time in this neighborhood years ago and it's incredible to see how many options to eat and drink have opened in the area. Express trains take you in half hour to Manhattan but the best is to stay in the zone and enjoy the many options Brooklyn offers.
The apartment itself is super clean, quiet despite the fact is right next to the street, and although we did not saw each other a lot, Kristen was a warm and attentive host when we met.
I stayed at this room 5 days . Kristen she was super nice helpful and warm person i like her very much! Her apartment is very clean and lovely . Hope I could come back again.
Our stay in Kristen's apartment was enjoyable! The room was quite spacious given that it is in NYC and the bed was big enough for me, which is good because I'm tall. There are some nice little coffee shops nearby (Breukelein-where you get the keys) (The Pulp and the Bean) which make for a good breakfast before hitting the subway into town.
Kristen's apartment is *very* close to *two* subway entrances, which makes it a breeze to hop on/off the subway. We primarily took the Red #2 and Red #3 to get to/from Manhattan. The apartment is also close to a big park where we took a walk on the first day. The room that you stay in has a window A/C unit and though it is a little noisy, it helps stave off the summer heat so points for that!
We spent the vast majority of our time in the city, so we only saw Kristen once, but she was friendly and excited to see us. Because she is indeed busy, Kristen has a service called Guesty that helps her communicate with the guest during booking, leading up to the trip, and after the trip. Communication was prompt and helpful. The key service to pick up Kristen's apartment keys went pretty smoothly as well.
Kristen was easy to work with regarding luggage, allowing us to stash it upon arrival to start exploring and stash it until we were ready to truly depart for our bus home. That right there was a huge help and kept us from having to lug around our stuff.
If I am able to swing by NYC in the future, I would absolutely consider staying with Kristen again!
we had a great time at Kristen's house the place was super clean and we were fully welcomed throughout the entire house the subway was also super close with various shops in the area I would recommend this place to anyone
Kristen made us feel at home. Her appartment is very clean and nice. The neighbourhood was safe. She is a good host :)
I had a great time staying at Kristen's apartment. The location was very convenient right next to a subway station with great connections. I loved the area right next to Prospect Park with many nice restaurants and coffee places around (oh and a good yoga place around the corner if you are into that). The apartment was absolutely lovely and so was Kristen. She was very accommodating and fun to talk to. The room was a bit too noisy for me, but if you are not a light sleeper like me you won't have any trouble.
