Riccardo's apartment is very well equipped and decorated - just like the photos. We found it was very convenient to metro and bus lines, and appreciated that it was located a little bit away from the tourist areas. We found the shops and restaurants in the local neighborhood to be very good, and lower prices than in the center city. We highly recommend Restaurant Joseph just a couple of blocks away - in fact we ate dinner there 4 nights in a row!! Delicious pasta, pizza, appetizers and wines and very reasonable prices! I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Roma!!

It is a great place owned by great people. The house has a genuine feeling of home, you really feel you are living there, not just visiting and passing by. It is very large and spacious, has literally everything you need in a house and lots of furniture and accessories. Wonderful ammenties in the bathroom and kitchen. Very nice terrace outside to catch some sun and dine al fresco, or simply enjoy a read. The apartment is at -1, so no direct exposure to sunlight on some rooms, but it is warm and welcoming everywhere. Excellent selection of books and movies. Close to public transport, the metro takes you straight to Spagna or Barberini or Termini. We used the bus a lot, there are direct buses to Musei Vaticani or Piazza Venezia. It may be outside the tourist area, but the neighborhood is good, with genuine supermarkets, pastry shops, fish and meat shops, gorgeous gelaterias and traditional products. Communication and interaction with the owners was splendid, Riccardo welcomed us and Serena was in touch for every little thing. Recommended fullheartedly. Thank you :)

If it's between a hotel away from the city center or this apartment, choose the apartment-you won't be disappointed. The apartment is about 1.3 miles from the Vatican. If you walk out of the complex, take a left, walk to the end of the block, go right and look to your left about half-way down the block you'll see St. Peter's Basilica. It's especially lovely at night. The apartment is as it is described and more. I travelled with my niece and stayed 10 days over Christmas. The neighborhood looked daunting to us at first, traffic is overwhelming and there is graffiti in places but we learned that is just Rome overall. The apartment is a block and a half from the subway, there are two grocery stores nearby and the nicest produce seller two or three storefronts to the left of the apartment. I can't say enough good things about our hosts, they were always reachable, cordial and welcoming. No surprises which was nice. The apartment is safe and the folks there are serious about no noise after 10 pm. We could hear the upstairs folks walking around but the amenities of the apartment more than make up for this. The kitchen is well appointed and we made use of it daily. It's good to have a washer in house and the apartment is incredibly spacious and lovingly decorated. There are plenty of books if you want a night or day in and I really like the patio. Love the beds! Comfortable and warm. We made use of the wi-fi and only had minimal trouble with it, just like home. The only caveat-if you plug in too many things, you'll throw a switch in the fuse box. I live in an old house in Texas and can relate. Not a big deal, Italy is like that. The apartment has a very good vibe, it is well loved. Don't be put off by the subway or public transit. There are only 2 subway lines in Rome, this area is on the A line and it goes right to the stations for the Vatican, Spanish steps, and Termini. We used it all hours and felt very safe. We even walked home Christmas eve because it stopped running at 9 pm-that was the only night it did. We had no problems what so ever. Thank you Riccardo and Serena and have a Happy New Year!

The Gioia House apartment was perfect for us! Riccardo and Serena answered every question we had before we arrived, they arranged for a service to pick us up at the airport and take us back. Riccardo came by to visit and was so nice! We loved the cafe just around the corner and the gelato shop down the street. It was conveniently near the Cornelia train station. It was a great place to stay and I recommend it!! Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Roman holiday in Gioia House! It was exactly as photographed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Shops, cafes and gelateria on the doorstep, with friendly people in a safe neighbourhood. Metro 5 minutes walk away, a short hop to the Vatican and centre of Rome, it was perfect for us. (book in advance online for the Vatican Museum, Colosseum, etc to avoid the long queues...) We so appreciated Riccardo's restaurant recommendations - great food in neighbourhood restaurants. Good to come home after a busy sightseeing day to eat well and walk home in 5 -10 minutes, to watch "Roman Holiday" and Fellini films with our teenager, enjoying her first ever B&W film.. perfect wifi.. – teenager heaven! This is our first airbnb booking, following lots of independent bookings elsewhere, and has been a very positive experience. Riccardo and Serena have been wonderful hosts from first contact. We will be back - Great holiday! Carolyne,Pat and Aoife, Dublin
