I recently stayed with Chris during a month long rotation at Lutheran Hospital. Chris is an excellent host! She is very welcoming and helped me become acclimated to living/working in Brooklyn. I was very pleased with the accommodations: spacious bedroom, nice bathroom, clean kitchen etc. The neighborhood is safe and has tons of great restaurants. Very close to bus and the R train. I was very pleased with my stay and would not hesitate to recommend this room to anyone. Thank you Chris!
The location in Bay Ridge is excellent with good transportation links, and a very quiet and safe neighbourhood. The room that Chris rents out is incredibly big and spacious giving you plenty of room. Chris herself is someone who is helpful in giving you information about the local neighbourhood and travelling around New York. I would recommend Chris to anyone looking to stay in New York.
I stayed with Chris for 3.5 months for a research stay at NYU. The apartment is great, furnished with a lot of love for details. It was completely renovated right before I left. The room itself is a bit dark (only a window into the direction of a wall), but the living room is very bright and gets a lot of sun in summer. I especially loved the view on the Verrazano Bridge. I also liked the neighborhood, in particular the little grocery stores and restaurants that you can find everywhere. It is important to know that the area is far from Manhattan, so a trip to NYU took me usually about one hour (in the evening or weekend even significantly longer). However, this was no problem since one can use the time for reading etc.
Chris herself is a very nice, open-minded and generous person. I liked the conversations and discussions in the evenings. A great plus are the free concerts that you can enjoy sometimes :-)
I spent almost three months at Chris' place while studying abroad. After I went through some struggles during my search for a permanent place to stay in NYC I was more than happy that I found this gem in south Brooklyn. The neighborhood (Bay Ridge) is safe and you will find some really neat restaurants in the area. Did I mention the view from the apartment? No? It's beautiful! The water is just a short walk and you can see Staten Island from there.
The apartment is clean and full with little artefacts from around the world. Although the pictures does not represent the furnitures in the room I had everything I need for my studies.
Chris is a wonderful person with a big heart, lots of energy and many interesting notions to talk about. Thanks for all Chris!
From the first moment I arrived, I felt comfortable at Chris' place. Her apartment is in a nice and safe neighborhood. My room was very spacious and I had enough room for everything I brought - which was quite a lot. It was clean and had an antique but nice furniture. I enjoyed to have somebody to talk to after long days - Chris is a very nice and interesting person - or to have my privacy when I needed it. The only thing I had to get used to was the missing airconditioning. Sometimes it was very hot even though I had fans, but after the first days I got used to it and it was okay. The Internet in my room was a bit moody. One day it was totally fine and the next one not, but there was always the option to hang out in the living room where the connection was good.
To sum it up: I had a very nice time at Chris' apartment and she is a nice host.
About the Host, Chris
I am a musician and artist who has been living in New York for twenty years. I'm originally from Ohio from a family who loves to entertain and loves a sense of community. Coming from a family of world travelers, I have been curious about many ancient cultures from many corners of this beautiful planet for most of my life. I care a lot about education and love to share insights, creative ideas and discoveries.
The global inter-weavings of time and space in art, music and dance, politics and religion is an ongoing source of fascination and exploration that can be so enriched by the tangible connection of other human beings. I am deeply touched by nature and love to tend to my plants and eat wholesome home-cooked food. I love yoga, martial arts and I am a practicing Buddhist who accepts people of all faiths.
