Secrets Guest House should not be a secret! A warm welcome and a home away from home atmosphere made my stay. Angella, Derrick and Jayden were wonderful hosts ensuring we had everything we needed or wanted.
The room was spacious, extremely clean, light and airy with a fabulously large bed.
I was sorry to leave and will most definitely be back (next week maybe)
Many thanks for a great stay.
The welcome from Derek and Angie was excellent.... the room was lovely with the high vaulted ceiling keeping the room cool. Everyday the room was cleaned and breakfast offered... lots of hot water in a great shower room with lovely beds and pillows. The house is slightly out of the way but easy to find.... the compound is delightful with a seating area and a bar with TV .... great four night stay and delightful hosts. I have stayed in a number of overpriced Entebbe hotels and the Secret Guesthouse is great value and just as good or even better on service and rooms. Thank you!!!
We stayed at Derek's and Angela's Guesthouse for one week and it was wonderful. It's a bit outside from Entebbe centre in a very calm and beautiful area, and the town is just a short ride with a tuk tuk or motorbike away.
The rooms are well furnished and clean and we really enjoyed the beautiful garden. Angela is a great cook and dining at Secret's is just delicious. Also they were very helpful with planning activities in Uganda.
We only can recommend this lovely place!
We had a wonderful 12 days at Secrets while we visited family and attended a wedding. When we got there drivers were waiting for us, a huge weight off our mind with 3 children and 10 cases between us. Derek, Angela and their family made us most welcome even tho at times I expect they felt they had been invaded with 4 adults and 3 kids. Derek is a wonderful genial host, he made us all welcome, helped us get around the local area and introduced us to some of the locals. Angela organised us brilliantly, gave us loads of local info and cooked us wonderful food. We would have been absolutely lost without them. The children also helped out and were fully involved and little Jaden made best friends with our 5 year old before we left. The guest house itself was spotlessly clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious and the powerful showers just what we needed. When we return to Entebbe we will definitely go back there.
Very kind, welcoming, and accommodating. Good location, comfortable place, and great food! Very glad to have stayed here!
Thank you so much for our glowing review. We are a new guest house and we do try our best to look after our customers and make them not only feel welcome but part of our family
I'm really sorry that you found the bed sheets slightly smelly. Thank you so much for bringing this problem to our attention. After an investigation I found that this was due to the bed sheets not being fully dried when placed on your bed. I asked the house keepers how this has happened and their explanation was that due to rain season the sheets had very little time to dry thoroughly. I have now invested in a tumble dryer which will be delivered in two days (this coming Monday) so that this problem will never be repeated.
Thanks again for allowing us to host you and we do hope that you will allow us the pleasure of hosting you again in the future
We stayed in the Secrets Guest House for 3 nights, the first two at the start of our jouney through Uganda and our last nigth in Uganda.
As promissed, Derek picked us up at the airport late in the evening.
As we arrived at the Secrets Guest House we were warmly welcomed by Angela.
Our stay was very pleasant, the chalet we slept was very comfortable, we feel like home!
Angela cooked very good meals for us and Derek was a great bartender!
When we ever go back to Uganda, Secrets Guest House is our first choice.
After one month in Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Ouganda, this place was the best I have been to during my trip. Very responsive, extremely clean and five star service for a fraction of the price. Definitely recommend!
About the Host, Secrets
Hi my name is Derek. I am a West Indian from heritage born in London UK and lived there for 40 years. I worked as a mechanic for then " Rover Group " for 7 years and as an engineer for the Fire service for 9 years before retraining to become a telecommunications engineer up until 2006 when I left for Uganda.
I met my wife in 1990 and we now have 4 children together. Family is very important to me which is why I left the UK. I needed to spend more time with my children but with long working hours between my wife and I that wasn't possible. We both love travelling and have been in many countries across the world. My wife is Ugandan by birth and speaks Luganda (one of the more popular languages here)
so we decided on building our guest house here in Uganda
We are very sociable people we love to smile / laugh and also love learning from other peoples experiences.
Having you as our guest you would feel like you are part of our family. We are very approachable so if you have any needs we will bend over backwards to meet them. We also have many friends within the tourism industry here so we can tailor make safaris and many other places of interest within Uganda to suit your budget.
