About this listing
This cozy room has a semi-private entrance and looks out on a peaceful garden. In addition, it has a newly remodeled bathroom with the best shower in the house. Cheerful space that you will be very happy in.
The Green Room:
This charming bright room with gorgeous private bath looks out over a quiet garden. An orange tree just outside the window, the soothing sound of a fountain, a very relaxing and private bedroom.
There is a double bed, a dresser, a wall shelf with hanging space, and a small desk. The newly remodeled bathroom is beautiful to look at and wonderful to use. Great shower head, nice lighting, long counter, lots of drawers.
The bed is as comfy as my other listing, but this is the only room I have that has a private bath and a separate entrance.
I am offering this cozy room in my spacious, inviting house in the Crescent Park neighborhood of Palo Alto. It's a cheerful, eclectic, lively home, with a variety of pretty garden areas, two wonderful dogs, and sometimes a bike available for use. It's approximately two miles from Stanford University. The neighborhood is a lovely place to walk, with gorgeous trees and interesting houses.
I am a Stanford graduate (1978) and 30-year resident of Palo Alto.
For more than two people, pending availability, I have one other guest room. On this airbnb site it is called Most Comfortable Mattress Ever . For more than two people, you would need to take more rooms.
My spacious living room - with its large couch and cozy reading chair - will be made available for you to relax in privately. If you're a pianist, you'd be welcome to use the Kawai parlor grand. Guests will also have a garden courtyard space to themselves, which is quiet and serene.
If desired, a small, simple breakfast will be provided. Guests staying a week will be offered light kitchen use and some space in the refrigerator.
My house and your room are clean and nicely appointed. Soft linens, fresh flowers and garden views await you.
You'll love my house. Besides the comfy mattresses, the other things friends and family always say is "I feel like I'm on vacation when I'm here." So, take a vacation.....
My house is large, so guests get to enjoy a large percentage of it. But I also like to keep my family areas separate and ask that guests not spend time in the rooms and gardens I have allotted for myself.
Guests will have limited access to the kitchen but are invited to use the living room, dining room and courtyard garden whenever they like. The dining room always has an electric kettle set up and an array of teas and instant coffee available. Both the garden and the living room have comfortable seating and are peaceful places to hang out.
Interaction with Guests
I pretty much leave guests alone and let them come and go. I like my private space so set clear boundaries within the house. That said, however, longer term renters will have light kitchen use and we will usually overlap at the kitchen island occasionally. I am always available, however, to answer questions or help in any way I can. And I often do nice little things for people, invite them to dinner or holiday meals, offer them my bikes for an excursion, pick them up when it's raining or they are tired.
My neighborhood is lovely and a great place to walk. The houses are gorgeous and well landscaped, people are friendly. Many of my renters walk to Stanford or downtown Palo Alto for their jobs. It's safe and completely residential, so there isn't a lot of traffic or noise.
It's easy and pleasant to walk to downtown or Stanford. There are also several bus options but many of my guests choose to walk or ride bikes. If they are connected to Stanford, they can rent a bike on campus for the duration of their stay. But there is a city bus that goes downtown, where one can then switch to a free bus that goes to Stanford and the Med Center. It could be better, certainly, but it does exist.
Other Things to Note
I have two friendly Labrador retrievers and a bird. I often have friends over for dinner but we aren't noisy nor do we use the spaces allotted for guests. My home is very special to me and I love it. And I love sharing it with others who appreciate its eclectic design and calm.
Please, no long showers. We have a serious drought going on and I ask guests to be extremely efficient in their water use. Please no loud TV late at night. No loud conversations on your cellphone in public guest areas. Must like dogs. No drugs, no smoking. Please don't ask to do your laundry. And please don't work at home during the day if you are someone who needs to be on the phone constantly. I work at home and need quiet and privacy.
I ask that guests be mindful of conserving electricity and water.
