About This Listing
Ever dreamed about living in walking distance to the famous Brandenburg Gate? Do you want a taste of Berlin’s night life with it's hip restaurants, bars, clubs? Do you like relaxing in beautiful parks? Our 104 sqm apartment is located in the very heart of Berlin: Kreuzberg, the renowned entertainment capital of Europe. With two sleeping rooms, a terrific flowery backyard with two swings, a sandbox, and two ping-pong tables, the object is especially interesting for families. Two recreational parks with playgrounds are in walking distance. One sports an artificial waterfall from the late 19th century. A farmer's market at the end of the street offers organical food from local producers. Also, the neighborhood offers many vegetarian bistros and restaurants.
For over five decades, this part of town is one of Berlin's liveliest: Bars, clubs, shops and restaurants praised in travel guides worldwide are found right next to typical traditional beer joints frequented by the neighborhood’s blue collars. A lot of artists from around the world live in Kreuzberg, where „ the nights are long“ as a famous German song proclaims. Another plus is Kreuzberg’s infrastructure: Three major subway lines and several bus stations are only minutes away. Our place is an excellent starting point for tourist highlights like Checkpoint Charlie, Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg Gate, Deutscher Reichstag, and Potsdamer Platz. Galleries and museums are within walking distance. You can easily explore Berlin by foot or rental bike. We are pretty much in the city’s center.
If you do not like to go out for dinner every night, our apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with frigde, gas stove, oven, and dishwasher. You can have breakfast in the sun on our spacious balcony with its iron-welded banister and enjoy a glass of wine watching the sun go down. The living room is roomy - a nice place to relax after a long day of exploring Berlin. Both living room and balcony are facing the south. We have two sleeping rooms: one with a king-size bed, and the other with two mattresses and a children’s bed.
The renovated apartment complex was built in 1871. It housed top-ranking Imperial cavalry officers and their families. High ceilings and wooden floors guarantee an authentic Berlin experience
You can find many bike rentals around. Our street offers free parking and the neighborhood is quiet and safe despite a stone's throw from the vibrant parts of town.
Guest will have access to the whole apartment, including bath and kitchen as well as the green backyard - and parking space in the street.
Interaction with Guests
We will be on holidays ourselves, but our great neighbors will take care of you and be available. We are happy to communicate via email and phone.
Calm and cosy with a lot of parks and great restaurants nearby.
There are many metros, buses and underground stations in walking distance.
Since we live in an apartment house with neighbors, partying late at night is a bad idea. Please try to be reasonably calm after 10 pm. No smoking inside.
It would be very nice, if you could lock the door twice whenever leaving the apartment.
The door at bathroom is not working. Do not lock yourself inside, use the green and red sign on the knob instead!
Maja was the perfect host and the apartment was spacious and in a great location. We loved staying there and enjoyed the apartment's warm ambiance and the sorounding neighbourhood's cafés, restaurants, parks and playgrounds. We never actually met Maja and her family but Franziska, who also lives in the building, welcomed us. Maja was super quick to respond to any enquiry and was always very helpful. She made sure we felt welcome and had even left a variety of treats for us.
If you are traveling as a family with children, this is the perfect place to stay!
We will definitely try to book this place again the next time we are in Berlin.
Maja is a great hostess. She organized everything before arrival and although we did not meet because she was on vacation, everything occured like planned and she really made us feel at home.
We had a great stay in Maja's place this July, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay comfortably and spaciously in a central and still residential neighborhood. The apartment is beautiful and we had everything we needed to feel at home away during our one week stay. We had breakfast in the balcony every day and shopped for groceries at the nearby organic supermarkt. The surrounding area has a very nice neighborhood feeling with lots of parks, good restaurants and cafes just a few blocks away. Communication with Maja was smooth and easy, although we didn't get to meet her in person, as it was vacation time. We rented bikes from a bike rental down the street and biking around was a great way to see the city.
Our stay in Berlin was great! Maja's place was perfect for us- central and family friendly. The apartment itself is beautiful and clean. Maja provided us with a local neighborhood map of all the local parks, kindercafes (great if you have little ones), and restaurants prior to us arriving. Although she wasn't there, her friend helped us get settled and was available when we had any questions.
Un appartement très agréable et bien placé.; pour les amoureux de l'authentique c'est l'endroit rêvé;
About the Host, Maja
We live in Berlin since 2004 and still find new things to see and do. I am a surfer, so the only thing missing is the ocean! I am working as a journalist, my husband is a musician. Our son loves our backyard and is willing to share his toys with young guests.
I like to see a picture of you before i can take a request. Also, it is a plus to be an Airbnb host. Thank you for understanding.
