Interaction with Guests
We can be your host and cater to you and your family with meals, some transportation and concierge service or you can grab a key and be on your way.
East Garfield Park is definitely the inner city! It's also erupting with art. A nationally recognized art corridor both highbrow and underground. Think SoHo in the 70's. We like to run our rebel flag high here. (email hidden) tasting, check out a painting at a loft gallery, see some mud wrestling, milk a goat and buy some fresh Chevre, grab some BBQ all in one walk.
The Metra, CTA and Kedzie bus are all less than 5 minutes walk. Where are you going? You can get there. Lyft or Uber cab from either airport will cost about $25 and take 20 to 40 minutes.
Other Things to Note
Free laundry, Wi-Fi and cable. There is a full barbeque pit outside big enough to roast a full pig. We have bikes you can borrow and occasionally a car.
No fire. No vomit. No anger.
Me and my husband were in Chicago for 2 nights at Nick's house. We just loved everything. Nicky is such a very nice person. All the pictures were the same as the house. You can choose it with no doubt.

What a great place. We were welcomed by a basket of fresh eggs, a bottle of wine and chocolate on the pillows. We felt intermediately at home. The apartment is beautiful and comfortable and clean. Very quiet. Ideal for a single or couple. Would work for two couples or friends.
We were a 5 minute walk from transit, which got us everywhere, and a 10 minute walk from the Garfield Park Conservatory. 5 to 10 minute drive to a couple of decent grocery stores.
One of the highlights was the backyard farm. Nothing beats being in such a very urban environment with the charm of being able to visit the goats, chickens and pigs.
We would absolutely stay there again.
I've stayed at AirBnB's all over the country, and this was by far the nicest pound for pound. You couldn't ask for better amenities or a nicer host. We were greeted with a custom chalkboard and bottle of wine which was awesome, not to mention the farm fresh eggs and chocolate on our pillows! So awesome.
I would highly advise brining a fan or earplugs however. The tenants upstairs (Another airbnb I think? Certainly temporary) made an ungodly amount of noise and the ceiling is pretty thin noise wise. It sounded like they were tap dancing on rollerblades from 6 AM to 2 AM. I haven't seen any other reviews complain about this, so I suppose it was just our bad luck with those tenants. Nicky offered to bring a fan over and spoke with them, and that helped some. I would advise ear plugs just in case. Still a great place to stay at a great rate, easy to get on the green line and explore the city.
Nicky’s Urban Farm made our visit to Chicago truly special – with smooth communication as well as a warm welcome by our host and farm animals alike we couldn’t be more excited to call this lovely apartment our own for a few days. We found everything just as depicted, clean and finished off with loving touches such as chocolates and wine. Enjoying farm fresh eggs and coffee on a daily basis were a wonderful treat and we were delighted by the relatively short commute into the city! Everyone we encountered in the area proved to be extraordinarily friendly and we were able to come and go at our own pace without having to worry. Free parking was available just steps from the front door.
Nicky and Eric were fantastic hosts, they made sure I had everything I needed. The farm was a welcome retreat for me during a busy week of conference activities. Eric is also an amazing cook, my colleagues and I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner he and his team catered for for us. And the goats are adorable.

About the Host, Nicky
Our quality of life depends on how well we deal with adversity! Feel positive. Live positive. I grew up in a small costal town in Maine. When I turned 19 I realized that I was a closet wanderer. So I hit the road and covered much of the U.S. and all of Europe. I taught skiing in the Rockies and rode my BMW R65-LS from coast to coast. When I was in Europe I was amazed at how willing people were to open their homes to a total stranger. I had one of my best experiences living with a family in Romania in the Carpathian Mountains. Amazing! I feel this is the best way possible to travel. It's part of why I love Air B&B. Hotel shmotel! Live the life of the area. That's an experience. Now my wandering days are over. I'm rooted in one of the coolest communities I know. Rich with art and spirit. I have two amazing girls that help me garden, can, collect eggs and milk. My husband is a world class chef and former Chicago S.W.A.T. officer and I tour with an ABBA tribute band but don't hold that against me. I hope you like it here half as much as we do!!
