Stay with us on your first and last night in Costa Rica. Just 3 kms. from the airport, our guest house is the most comfortable alternative to big chain hotels and perfect for travelers who need a convenient location, close to the international airport, and to major towns in the Central Valley, such as San José, Santa Ana, Alejuela, Heredia, and Escazu.
Although our guest house is in an urban setting, it has a rural feeling, surrounded by lush vegetation and with a great view of the mountains. Visitors love the warm and rustic feeling of the wood and rock architectural details of our cabin. Has the feel of a typical vacation cottage in North America; it´s very cosy but not too small to share with friends and family. We strive to keep it immaculately clean.
Visitors enjoy HIGH SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET.
Light housekeeping is provided for renters who stay more than 2 nights.
Breakfast available upon request.
Behind our property, there is a beautiful private country club where we are members. For a day pass, the country club charges $12 for adults and $6 for children under 11 and it is half price after 5 PM. Our guests enjoy use of the facilities which include swimming pools, jacuzi and sauna, tennis courts, and expansive picnic areas with covered ranches and playgrounds for children. We highly recommend that you make use of the club; during the week it´s practically empty and on the weekends it gets busy.
Interaction with Guests
Airport pick up and drop off available upon request. A taxi ride from or to the International airport costs less than $12 and takes about 7 minutes.
The area of San Antonio de Belén and La Ribera are considered among the finest neighborhoods to live in in Costa Rica. Almost everything you´d want is close at hand, such as a variety of supermarkets, fresh fruit and veggie markets, restaurants, beauty salons, recreation centres, shopping and cinemas, artesania, churches and community centres. It is considered a safe area, so you don´t have to be overly concerned about security, although we recommend locking your doors, closing the gate securely behind you and being careful when you take money out of the ATM machine and not carrying a lot of cash on you. Because we are so close to the airport, there are many rent-a-car agencies close by. If you do decide to rent a vehicle, you can ask the agency to drop off and /or pick up yoru vehicle here at the guest house, at no additional charge.
Just a block away buses leave for San Jose or Heredia every hour. Walk down to San Antonio, just a 10 minute walk, to the train station and catch a comfortable 25 minute train ride to the centre of San Jose.
Other Things to Note
Day trip suggestions
1. Poas Volcano is one hour away and is the most popular tourist attraction in Costa Rica. Its definitely worth the trip. You can drive there or private transportation can be arranged.
2. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a beautiful place to visit, amazing animals and spectacular waterfalls, and the lunch is great. If you leave for Poas Volcano early you could even visit both places in one day.
3. San Jose has some nice places to visit. Because of the traffic we recommend that you take the train that leaves from San Antonio de Belen, just a 10 minute walk to the train station. Once in San Jose, places to visit are Teatro Nacional, Museo de Oro, Museo Nacional and the local artisan markets nearby.

What a Perfect place to start a trip to Costa Rica. This place is not far from the Airport. The fresh fruit and coffee where a bonus. But, I loved that Marie spoke English- This was my first trip out of the US. It was nice to have a conversation with someone in my own language. (eased my anxiety)
She was very kind and has a wonderful family-- I would recommend staying here.
Our stay with Marie was brief but wonderful. The space was adorable, cozy and close to the airport. She stocked us with some ingredients for breakfast which we really appreciated! Definitely would stay here again.
Nice stay at Marie's place in San Jose. The location can't be beat! The cabin is perfect, very comfortable. Marie made sure we were well settled and even hooked us up with a big bag of groceries for breakfast! We walked only 200 meters down the road for lunch... quite a few restaurants, a grocery store, etc. close by. Marie's dogs took a couple minutes to warm to me but after they did they seemed almost protective of us and very protective of the property! The neighborhood is very safe but this made us feel that much safer. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when coming in and out of Costa Rica!
We LOVED staying with Marie! As first timers to CR, we were completely intrigued with the fabulous flora and fauna, but a little lost with what to see and do. Marie was patient and kind, treating us like family, and sharing everything that her wonderful garden rich property has to offer, and her extensive knowledge of the area. Her guest house is quaint, comfortable, and lovely to enjoy conversation on the patio. Marie and her family greeted us with warmth and staples for a breakfast in. Thanks Marie!
I'm so glad I found Marie's place for our first night in Costa Rica. It was very convenient from the airport and the perfect size for our group of 5. The place is clean, cozy and just as pictured. Marie was very friendly and had provided breakfast essentials such as eggs, bread, milk and coffee, plus there was fresh fruit available as well. Since we arrived late afternoon, she recommended a local place we could walk to for dinner as well as a local market. I would definitely recommend Marie's place and stay again.
Marie and her husband were super accommodating and welcoming right away. They made our family feel right at home. Their lovely cabin was a good place to relax and rest after long days of exploration. Thanks so much for making this a pleasant experience.
Marie was a great host. Although we were only there the evening and left early the next morning, she made us welcome. She bought some simple things for us for breakfast. The house is beautiful as well. Overall, I highly recommend the place. Wish we had more time to stay.
