Just minutes to and from SJO airport (2.3 km), this cosy cabin with 3 bedrooms is perfect for families. Set in a garden with lovely mountain views, it is close to all amenities and public transport to surrounding towns. Breakfast available and WiFi.

The space

Stay with us on your first and last night in Costa Rica. Just 3 kms. from the airport, our guest house is the most comfortable alternative to big chain hotels and perfect for travelers who need a convenient location, close to the international airport, and to major towns in the Central Valley, such as San José, Santa Ana, Alejuela, Heredia, and Escazu.

Although our guest house is in an urban setting, it has a rural feeling, surrounded by lush vegetation and with a great view of the mountains.

Visitors enjoy HIGH SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET.

Light housekeeping is provided for renters who stay more than 2 nights.

Breakfast available upon request for an additional charge.

Although we are on a main road, finding it may be challenging, since there are no road signs here in Costa Rica. The land marks you will be looking for are the La Ribera Cemetery (125 metres west of), the Mormon temple (200 metres west of), and the Montessori preschool across the road.

If you have a smart phone, please download (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), and send me your cell phone number. I will send the map link to your phone and you can open (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps or waze to get here. Please advise us the day prior to your arrival of your approximate arrival time. We will be waiting for you. And note that our doorbell is not working. We require a call or honk from the road!

Guest access

Just up the road going West 0.8 km is the famous Ojo de Agua. With four fresh spring water swimming pools, this place is unique and the water is pure and magical. Entrance fee is 1500 colones ($3) per person 3 and over.

Interaction with guests

A taxi ride from or to the International airport costs between $10 and $20 and takes about 10 minutes. You can also order an Uber from the airport. In the airport there is wifi so you can use it to order the Uber.

Other things to note

Day trip suggestions
1. Poas Volcano is one hour away and is the most popular tourist attraction in Costa Rica. Its definitely worth the trip. You can drive there or private transportation can be arranged.

2. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a beautiful place to visit, amazing animals and spectacular waterfalls, and the lunch is great. If you leave for Poas Volcano early you could even visit both places in one day.

3. San Jose has some nice places to visit. Because of the traffic we recommend that you take the train that leaves from San Antonio de Belen, just a 10 minute walk to the train station. Once in San Jose, places to visit are Teatro Nacional, Museo de Oro, Museo Nacional and the local artisan markets nearby.

Day TOURS can be arranged with a local company TAM, and they have offices close by.
v The Combo Tour (Poás Volcano, Doka Coffee Plantation & La Paz Waterfalls Gardens (Ecological Tour).
v Calypso’s Catamaran Cruise to Tortuga Island (Beach Tour)
v Rainforest Atlantic (Nature & Adventure Tour)
v Zip Line (Adventure & Nature)
v Arenal Volcano & Tabacon Resort Hot Springs (Relaxation Tour)
v White water rafting on the Pacuare River, One day and over night tours available. A day trip from here to go rafting costs $100 and includes transportation there and back, and food all day.

An awesome place conveniently near the airport, yet an escape from the buzzy city. Definitely recommended to anyone traveling to Costa Rica.

We had an awesome time at Marie's place! She was incredibly friendly and welcoming, very helpful in pointing us to local spots where we had great tacos, and just making us feel at home! Her place was very clean and nice and made us feel like we had a little spot in the jungle even though we were in a city. We'd definitely stay here again.

Our stays at Marie's (we went back after our first and then extended our stay) were a perfect way to begin our trip and end it. It was so nice skip San Jose and spend some time in Alajuela. Marie's place is great. Marie is a nice host and always happy to help. Everything you need is in walking distance. Very comfortable beds and quiet at night. Nice sitting area and table. Nice little deck to sit on when it rains. Kitchen had what we needed. BTW: Check out the Ojo de Agua Springs. It is a wonderful way to cool down.

My wife and I had one night in this area after a late flight. It was a quick ten minute drive from the airport and communication with Marie was great. She recommended a few good places to get dinner close to the Airbnb that we could walk to. Overall, the place itself was very comfortable and had a lot of space. She provided coffee, tea, milk and some fruits, which made for an enjoyable breakfast the following day.

This is a cozy little cabin with all the necessities for a small family. The house is set back from the road and you can hear the tropical birds in the morning. Marie is very helpful and welcoming.

We loved our experience at Marie's house! She was easy to communicate, the house was as advertised, and we felt very welcome there! She even provided a fresh loaf of bread, butter, and an assortment of tropical fruit! The beds were very comfortable and there was hot water in the shower with great water pressure! Our experience could not have been better! We highly recommend it!
