About this listing
Just minutes to and from SJO airport, this cosy cabin with 3 bedrooms is perfect for families. Set in a garden with lovely mountain views, it is close to all amenities and public transport to surrounding towns. Breakfast available and WiFi.
Stay with us on your first and last night in Costa Rica. Just 3 kms. from the airport, our guest house is the most comfortable alternative to big chain hotels and perfect for travelers who need a convenient location, close to the international airport, and to major towns in the Central Valley, such as San José, Santa Ana, Alejuela, Heredia, and Escazu.
Although our guest house is in an urban setting, it has a rural feeling, surrounded by lush vegetation and with a great view of the mountains. Visitors love the warm and rustic feeling of the wood and rock architectural details of our cabin. Has the feel of a typical vacation cottage in North America; it´s very cosy but not too small to share with friends and family. We strive to keep it immaculately clean.
Visitors enjoy HIGH SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET.
Light housekeeping is provided for renters who stay more than 2 nights.
Breakfast available upon request.
Behind our property, there is a beautiful private country club where we are members. For a day pass, the country club charges $12 for adults and $6 for children under 11 and it is half price after 5 PM. Our guests enjoy use of the facilities which include swimming pools, jacuzi and sauna, tennis courts, and expansive picnic areas with covered ranches and playgrounds for children. We highly recommend that you make use of the club; during the week it´s practically empty and on the weekends it gets busy.
Interaction with Guests
Airport pick up and drop off available upon request. A taxi ride from or to the International airport costs less than $12 and takes about 7 minutes.
The area of San Antonio de Belén and La Ribera are considered among the finest neighborhoods to live in in Costa Rica. Almost everything you´d want is close at hand, such as a variety of supermarkets, fresh fruit and veggie markets, restaurants, beauty salons, recreation centres, shopping and cinemas, artesania, churches and community centres. It is considered a safe area, so you don´t have to be overly concerned about security, although we recommend locking your doors, closing the gate securely behind you and being careful when you take money out of the ATM machine and not carrying a lot of cash on you. Because we are so close to the airport, there are many rent-a-car agencies close by. If you do decide to rent a vehicle, you can ask the agency to drop off and /or pick up yoru vehicle here at the guest house, at no additional charge.
Just a block away buses leave for San Jose or Heredia every hour. Walk down to San Antonio, just a 10 minute walk, to the train station and catch a comfortable 25 minute train ride to the centre of San Jose.
Other Things to Note
Day trip suggestions
1. Poas Volcano is one hour away and is the most popular tourist attraction in Costa Rica. Its definitely worth the trip. You can drive there or private transportation can be arranged.
2. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a beautiful place to visit, amazing animals and spectacular waterfalls, and the lunch is great. If you leave for Poas Volcano early you could even visit both places in one day.
3. San Jose has some nice places to visit. Because of the traffic we recommend that you take the train that leaves from San Antonio de Belen, just a 10 minute walk to the train station. Once in San Jose, places to visit are Teatro Nacional, Museo de Oro, Museo Nacional and the local artisan markets nearby.

Maria était très accueillante et sympathique.
Elle nous a offert de quoi manger durant notre court séjour.
Aussi, la maison était propre et agréable, proche des magasins et de l'aéroport.

The sweet cabin is an oasis of green and nature and is in close driving proximity to some great adventures. The neighborhood is charming and within walking distance of some good restaurants and a supermarket. Marie and Luis were very welcoming without being obtrusive and excellent at responding to emails.
Marie is a very nice and helpful host. She even provided us with breakfast for the first morning. The close proximity to the airport (10 mins by taxi) is noisewise hardly noticeable, but unfortunately there is a fairly noisy road next to the house. The garden is beautiful with lots of fruit trees. Maries dogs are great. We had a wonderful stay with our family. The house suits 5 people very well. Thanks a lot!
Find our comments below -> two couples, stayed the first two and last night at Marie and Luis' house.
Marie is wonderful!
She picked me up from the airport. It was comforting to know she could help with that.
Very nice stay for the first night!
She gave me a ride to a hotel to catch a shuttle the next morning!
Will visit again in the future!
We booked Marie's place due to its location near the San Jose airport. It was our last night in CR and had to be at the airport the next morning at 4:30am. The room was rustic and the grounds nicely landscaped. We could tell that Marie and Luis were eco conscious based on the natural built of the stand-alone apartment and surrounding home and grounds. There was parking and an automatic gate for added security. The bathroom was beautiful. The main room was a bit dark during the day but no one should be spending the day indoors anyway while on vacation!
The house is cute and cozy but unfortunately it is located on a very busy street. The noise of the street made it difficult to sleep at night. There was no toilet paper in the house which was a slight inconvenience for us. But besides that, our stay was good. Luis was very friendly when greeting us upon our arrival.
