The Space

Stay with us on your first and last night in Costa Rica. Just 3 kms. from the airport, our guest house is the most comfortable alternative to big chain hotels and perfect for travelers who need a convenient location, close to the international airport, and to major towns in the Central Valley, such as San José, Santa Ana, Alejuela, Heredia, and Escazu.

Although our guest house is in an urban setting, it has a rural feeling, surrounded by lush vegetation and with a great view of the mountains. Visitors love the warm and rustic feeling of the wood and rock architectural details of our cabin. Has the feel of a typical vacation cottage in North America; it´s very cosy but not too small to share with friends and family. We strive to keep it immaculately clean.

Visitors enjoy HIGH SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET and cable TV.

Light housekeeping is provided for renters who stay more than 2 nights.

Breakfast served $7 per person.

Guest Access

Behind our property, there is a beautiful private country club where we are members. For a small entrance fee (Day pass $12 adults and $6 children under 11, half price after 5 PM), our guests enjoy use of the facilities which include swimming pools, jacuzi and sauna, tennis courts, and expansive picnic areas with covered ranches and playgrounds for children. We highly recommend that you make use of the club; during the week it´s practically empty and on the weekends it gets busy.

Interaction with Guests

Airport pick up and drop off available upon request. A taxi ride from or to the International airport costs less than $12 and takes about 7 minutes.

The Neighborhood

The area of San Antonio de Belén and La Ribera are considered among the finest neighborhoods to live in in Costa Rica. Almost everything you´d want is close at hand, such as a variety of supermarkets, fresh fruit and veggie markets, restaurants, beauty salons, recreation centres, shopping and cinemas, artesania, churches and community centres. It is considered a safe area, so you don´t have to be overly concerned about security, although we recommend locking your doors, closing the gate securely behind you and being careful when you take money out of the ATM machine and not carrying a lot of cash on you. Because we are so close to the airport, there are many rent-a-car agencies close by. If you do decide to rent a vehicle, you can ask the agency to drop off and /or pick up yoru vehicle here at the guest house, at no additional charge.

Getting around

Just a block away buses leave for San Jose or Heredia every hour. Walk down to San Antonio, just a 10 minute walk, to the train station and catch a comfortable 25 minute train ride to the centre of San Jose.

  • Marie was an absolute pleasure to meet. Her and her family made our stay in San Jose a very enjoyable one. She brought us a bowl of delicious fresh fruit, and even made us breakfast in the morning. The cabin we stayed in was very accommodating, and even included a washing machine. The yard was beautiful as well. The place is only minutes from the SJO airport, and we would go back in a heart beat.

Thank you for your wonderful review. It was great to meet you and I hope you come back this way. About the internet, there is wifi in the guest house, it has its own router and truly this is the first time it has not functioned. I know it was an inconvenience, and I hope it doesn't happen again. Many people have been without wifi around San Jose in recent days, perhaps because of the World Cup, and an overwhelmed system.

  • Our time with Marie from the moment we met her was great! She was soooo helpful. She recommended a nice place to eat and even called ahead to let them know we were coming. She also arranged for a cab ride to the airport very early the next morning. To top it all off, when we got back from dinner she had placed a beautiful basket of fruit and fresh coconut water on our table for in the morning. The house was very cute and cozy! Very clean and the bed was comfy! We will definitely stay again on our next trip to San Jose. Thanks Marie! Pura Vida!

  • Marie is a great host! Friendly, helpful and accomodating. Her cabin is wonderfully close to the airport, and comfortably can sleep a crew. The washing machine was a lifesaver. Other than some traffic noise from the road, you could be in the jungle. Beds are comfy and the place is clean. Wonderful woodwork throughout. Stayed here twice, on each end of our trip. The second time it felt like coming home.

  • Great location. Super close to the airport and also shopping in Lindora, short hop to Escazu. A secluded little mountain cabin that is actually in the city. Marie and her family are excellent hosts and have lots of San Jose and Costa Rica info to share. A great value. Thanks!

  • Very comfortable place, well equipped, everything was perfect. Marie is a great host. She cared about us and we felt comfortable in her house, also she left some fruits for the breakfast, that was very helpful as our flight was early in the morning and there was no time to cook.

  • I stayed with Marie on my first and last night in Costa Rica, which was the best decision. Marie is really the best hostess. She arranged for a cab for me very early in the morning (3am) and they showed up right on time. It was also fun to talk about my trip with her and her daughter, Nina. The cabin is very close to the airport, only 3 km, so you really can't beat the location or the hospitality that you'll receive here!

  • This is the best place to stay on your first and last night in Costa Rica. The best decision I made about my trip was to rest after an exhausting flight and recharge before exploring the country. Marie is the best host. She really does genuinely care for her guests and it shows. My flight came in very early and not only did she pick me up from the airport, she allowed me to check in very early so I could sleep. She even picked up my friend, who arrived later in the evening, up from the airport as well. Visiting Costa Rica for the first time can be very intimidating given that there are no addresses and it's very difficult to get lost but Marie helped every step along the way.
Marie is also a great cook and prepared some very tasty meals for us, including fresh homemade banana cake. There was an endless supply of coconut water, which is very refreshing in the hot temperatures.
The cabin itself is just that...a cabin. It's a bit rustic but has everything you need. The beds were comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. The internet worked great and everything was just wonderful.
