Interaction with Guests
Pat & family will welcome you when you arrive, and live nearby if you need to get in contact quickly during your stay.
There are TONS of things to do in the area:
COUNTRYSIDE: Walk the Vee in the nearby Sugar Loaf mountains. The Vee is famous because of the breathtaking panoramic views afforded to travellers and sight seers going through the pass. The journey rises to about 2,000 feet (610m) above sea level above Bay Lough, and as it does so it gives wonderful views of a portion of the ‘Golden Vale’ between the Knockmealdown and Galtee Mountain Ranges.
RAMBLING: If walking is your thing, then the area around the Vee, Bay Lough, Loughglenbridge, Sugar Loaf Hill, Knockshanahullion and Gortacullen Wood (just under the Vee following the Tipperary Heritage Way sign) offer a multitude of choices no matter what type of road walking or mountain climbing you fancy. Take a look at our Walks section to give you an idea of some of your options.
HISTORY: Visit nearby Cahir Castle, one of the largest castles in Ireland, is sited on an island in the river Suir. It was built in 1142 by Conor O'Brien, Prince of Thomond. This is a magnificent must see option for any visit to Cahir.
The Rock Of Cashel is also a short drive away. It's huge, it's complex, it's iconic, there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world and it's right here in Cashel at the heart of Tipperary. The Rock of Cashel (Carraig Phádraig), more formally St. Patrick's Rock, it is also known as Cashel of the Kings. Reputedly the site of the conversion of Aenghus the King of Munster by St. Patrick in the 5th century AD. Long before the Norman invasion The Rock of Cashel was the seat of the High Kings of Munster.
SHOPPING: The cottage is a short drive away from the heritage town Cahir, full of interesting shops and pubs and an excellent tourist office set on the banks of the majestic river Suir (perfect for a lazy afternoons picnic!)
GOLF: There are many golf courses in the area, including Cahir, Tipperary, Thurles, Ballykisteen and Dundrum House golf club. If you are a golfer this is the perfect location for you!
EQUESTRIAN: Tipperary is home to Coolmore Stud in Fethard and many equestrian entreprises due to the superb quality of its limestone based grass. Whether you want to go horse trekking, racing or play polocrosse, there is something for everyone here.
Cahir is a really beautiful part of Ireland and we look forward to welcoming you!

We had a great experience staying here. Pat and Marion were really helpful, especially when our car broke down and they called a mechanic out to fix it for us. Lovely cosy cottage and a warm welcome from the hosts. Would recommend it and hope to return some day. Thanks for the memories!
Ours was a great experience, especially as we celebrated Christmas at the cottage. Pat and Marion had put up Christmas decorations, kindly provided an iced Christmas cake and then presented us with gifts to go under the tree. Then there were supplies of scones and soda bread! Our 9yo was delighted with Paddy and even won over Sue. Try as we did, we did not dent the woodpile while staying very cosy. While no WiFi was at times a limitation and G3 reception for data poor, it inspired us to camp by the fire in the bar of the Kilcoran Lodge Hotel, only 10 min away by car, and use their WiFi in comfort. We found the cottage exactly as described. A very quiet location and ideal for reflective moments, yet only 10 min from Cahir. The Galtee hills are only 10 min away and offer great walks.
Una casa muy acogedora al lado de una granja, muy limpio y ordenado y con chimenea.
This Farmhouse was a beautiful place to stay...surrounded by amazing countryside and with such charm and character itself. Pat was a fantastic host....even going to the trouble of chasing up a relative of mine before I arrived and lining up contact between us! We were greeted by Marion, Pat's wife on arrival and the kitchen table was already set for our afternoon tea...it was lovely...! Our son loved Paddy the horse, the dog and the cats around too....had one cosy night here...could have had more. Great hosts...ktichen well stocked...with juice, yoghurt, milk...etc. Scones and tea on arrival...great. Thank you Pat and Marion.
Pat was a great host and the house was beautiful. It had everything that we needed and the lovely town of Cahir was just down the road. If you want a bit of peace and quiet but with easy access to shops, etc. then this Pat's place is perfect. We would happily visit again and cannot think of anything negative to say about our trip.
Loved our time at Pat's farm! He still greeted us with a huge warm smile and handshake despite some "technical difficulties" with the power. We felt immediately at home and he shared his knowledge of Hurling and gave terrific suggestions for dinner. The cottage was delightful, the scones and carrot cake left for breakfast were wonderful, and the silence of the countryside exactly what we needed. Thank you so much !!
We had a lovely time staying at Pat's cosy cottage in the countryside. We arrived to a warming fire and homemade cake and scones, which was very thoughtful and most appreciated after our day's journey. It made a great base for day trips, was wonderfully peaceful out in the countryside but still well connected to the motorway so get around easily. We really enjoyed our stay and happily recommend this place to others.
