Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
This quaint, quiet, former two room schoolhouse is in an idyllic setting with 360 degree Blue Ridge Mountain views.
The Schoolhouse at Charlemont Lodge retains it's former charm while being updated to 5 rooms plus a sunroom, it is fully equipped with modern amenities (even the bathroom is indoors now). It can be a perfect romantic getaway location, or just a wonderful place to kick back and enjoy the views and relax.

The space
Airbnb does not have a place for hosts to list or collect the County lodging tax due for your stay. I need to inform you that it will be a total of 7% per the nightly base rate. I will need to collect this upon your arrival. There is a separate line for the Virginia State Tax on your reservation total for reservations booked after July 1, 2019.

Unfortunately we have a no pets policy. This ensures the safety of your fur babies and ours. It also allows us to offer an allergy free accommodation to our guests.

Guest access
You are welcome to enjoy the outdoor property but please do not enter any areas containing livestock. You may pet horses and donkey from outside the fence. Always leave any door or gate as you find it.

Other things to note
Within a 60 mile radius there are many historic sites to visit, such as, Appomattox Court House, National D Day Memorial, Natural Bridge, and many others. You also have Smith Mountain Lake and all the natural beauty that the Blue Ridge Parkway offers. If antiques are your passion there are many shops in Bedford and the surrounding areas. Several winneries are close by or within a short drive.

My husband and I have lived in the Charlemont Lodge since 1997 full time. We purchased our home in 1992 and visited from Massachusetts as often as possible. We fell in love with the area and the views are spectacular. We love all our animals, big and small. They provide us with entertainment daily. Our miniature jack donkey, Star, refuses to be told where he can and can't go. It is not unusual to see him wandering the yard. Once he is scolded he will run back into the field acting like "Who me?" The seasonal changes of the mountains are never something we take for granted. It always amazes us. Winters are quiet and a time for relaxing. Spring brings flowers, and planting. The tempo picks up in the Spring and carries forward till Winter returns. Summer is our busy time with mowing and planting. We always have a small vegetable garden and neighbors share their overflow of goodies. Even though we are retired now,we stay busy most of the year. We look forward to you getting much joy and relaxation from your stay.
