The guest house can comfortably accomodate 2 or 3 people. Newly renovated with new AC a Queen size bed and futon, high speed internet, parking space, Apple TV and Nespresso. 3 blocks walk to the beach and a great backyard to hang out in! :)
The Guest House is located in my backyard, it's a tropical oasis. Everything inside is brand new, we just renovated the space. It's got granite countertops, a Nespresso machine and all the things anyone needs to cook a meal at home. Apple TV and high speed wifi. Queen size bed and a great leather futon for that 3rd guest. The light are on dimmers for romantic evenings, rain shower head in the bathroom.
The backyard wooded deck is a great place to sit or swing on the hammock and have your morning coffee before hitting the beach! For those cooler nights the fire pit and the comfy couches are a cozy place to curl up outside. Parking available
Interaction with Guests
I live in New York and come to Miami about 2 times a month for work.
My neighborhood is VERY safe, located in the heart of south beach but in a quiet pocket of houses. Just North is the big Fontainbleu hotel and Soho Beach House. Go South and you find yourself at Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road and the great hotels on Collins Ave.
There is a Bus which runs North and South on my street. There is also a Bus which goes straight to the airport (Miami) 2 streets away. One block away there is the Miami Bike share so you can rent bikes and ride around. Or just walk 10 minutes to the beach!
The private guest house is nestled in a splendid Miami Beach neighborhood, approximately 5 blocks walk from the beach. Very accessible location to the point that we left rental car parked in yard, using our feet and UberX to get around (we discovered that parking by the beach is next to impossible and expensive). The room was spacious with a cozy and exquisite bed. Internet speedy @ 60-70 Mbp/s.
Unfortunately, the previous tenants did not abide by the no smoking policy, which left the room smelling musty and unpleasant throughout the duration of our stay. It was partially alleviated with the AC, still noticeable upon each return. Melissa did apologize for this, but had admittedly not been inside the house for 2 weeks. The floor and futon could also use a thorough cleaning.
By and large, at $100/night, it was still a good value relative to cost of area hotels.
The place: the guest house in reality is actually better, than the pictures. Everything is simple, yet modern, new, very clean and super comfortable. We loved the attention to detail: all sorts of towels, plethora of dishes, everything you can possibly need. Absolutely lovely backyard with outside table and chairs. Very cozy, very comfortable, very clean and brand new!! We will certainly be coming back.
Host: very pleasant lady, super responsive and helpful.
Would highly recommend this place, will certainly meet all your expectations!
Very neat and convenient location. Would definitely stay again and will be recommending Melissa's home to friends and family!
I have read a Lot of comments about melissa and her Apartment, and can only agree with the majority of the comments and are very positive impressed. Everything went well and whenever i had a question melissa Wrote quickly back. I would recommended the Apartment to everyone. Its clean and the neighborhood is very Safety.
The location couldn't be better, especially with young kids - two blocks to get delicious food at family friendly restaurants with no wait time, and another two to the beach!
The guest house is decently sized, we had the futon open and a pak-n-play set up the whole time (and suitcases and sometimes even the jogging stroller!) and the kids still had plenty of floor space to crawl and play! The place was clean and the beds comfortable.
We had some minor issues and Melissa was very quick to respond and help us troubleshoot.
There was only 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper in the guest house and no hand soap. It was not difficult to get to CVS to purchase a pack of toilet paper and hand soap, but it was not something I expected to have to take care of on vacation. We did contact Melissa about this (I think this was just an oversight on the part of her housekeeper) and she responded within a few hours that she was having some delivered. Unfortunately, the delivery never came and though we continued to contact Melissa about this she did not respond the rest of our inquiries on the topic (but continued to respond promptly to any other needs). Though nothing earth shattering, it was inconvenient, and I am still unclear as to why Melissa decided to ignore this particular conversation.
The biggest complaint I have is that the yard, which was a big selling point for us with two kids, was unkempt and full of discarded furniture. This was nothing that could be remedied during our stay as it would have required lawn care and furniture hauling, and we were fine without it (as I said, the house itself provided adequate space for the kids to play), but if you are expecting a yard to hang out in I would double check the state of it before you travel.
Overall this was a positive experience!
This place was great. Perfect for the two of us for our 1 night trip through Miami. Melissa was always available when we needed to contact her. It was really close to the beach although I wouldn't recommend walking in the summer heat if your not going to go for a swim because it gets hot. It was a wonderful place and I would definitely recommend it for a couple coming to miami.
I am a model who lives between New York and Miami. Very easy going! My husband and I travel quite often for work. Im renting my guest house in my backyard on Miami Beach. Please contact me for any more information if your interested to come visit!
