From the first meeting at the Airport Helen was the most superb host. Vazon Cottage is delightful and Helen has thought of every detail to make things easy for the guest. It was always warm which can be difficult in Guernsey in November!
Walks in Green Lanes were suggested and proved to be very interesting.
Being close to Vazon Bay and Cobo Bay there was a choice of restaurants in walking distance, the bus stop was close and the service was half hourly. Lifts in the car were offered too.
A great holiday.
My host, Helen, was incredibly welcoming. She offered to meet me at the airport on my arrival and bent over backwards to make my trip run as smoothly as possible. Helen is a great cook, using the fresh fish delights caught locally. I was really welcomed into her home. The room is charming, quirky and very clean. Helen has restored her cottage in great taste with some lovely original features. Its' location on the stunning Vazon Bay is practical for the bus and the rest of the island is easily accessible. I want to return in surf season!
Helen is highly friendly and we very enjoyed the time we spent with her. Having lived on Guernsey for a while, she could provide us with very good explanations about the island... and also excellent recommendations (e.g. places to see and restaurants)!
As other people mentioned, the room is spacious, nice looking and very clean. The location (minutes from bus stop and the fantastic Vazon Bay) is fantastic!
Many thanks for your warm welcome! We will try to come back soon!
Helen have us a warm, friendly welcome. She is an engaging conversationalist with with great local knowledge who also respected our privacy.
We were in a beautifully appointed, charm-filled room. I wish we could have stayed a week.
Vazon Bay is a good central location to explore the extraordinary variety and depth that is Guernsey. Everywhere we went on the island - restaurants, museums, shops, car hire - the service was world class.
Helen is amazing! Her friendliness, lively spirit and generous nature are a joy.We have stayed in maybe 10 Air Bnb rentals, hers was exemplary. The bedroom with a sea view has a really cosy feel and a comfy. We had a feed of local crabs with Helen on one night, which was obviously a highlight. If you want bright lights etc, then forget about Guernsey
If want wild coastline, friendly people , WW2 history and a slower pace you will love it .We did.
Helen was a wonderful and welcoming host. She was willing to take the time to explain everything from bus schedules to bird identification.
The room was very nice and comfortable. So nice to sleep in a cozy bed with the windows open for the sea air!
It was a great short stay in Helens amazing house of surprises. Helen made us feel very welcome, very easy going and I felt it was a shame we only stayed so short. The place is quirky and very comfortable place to stay. The room fab too! Spacious, comfy bed and even with a bit of sea view.
Although Helen is still working on her house, it doesn't feel like a building site at all. It is very near a great sandy beach, with amenities nearby (shop, bar and restaurant, bus-stop) and still quiet.
Thank you Helen!
I have been living in Guernsey for over 30 years and love the island and all its quirky ways. Knowledgeable about local matters and happy to share the knowledge. I keep a comprehensive library which guests are welcome to use. Relaxed, easy going with a cheerful demeanor I will try and make your stay with me as welcoming as possible.
