The Space

Someone would always be available to help with any needs or questions you may have. We will help you experience Hawaii, so you feel like you belong. Let the island heal you.

The Neighborhood

This is a quiet neighborhood. Everyone has 5 or more acres. Many neighbors grow coffee, macnuts, avocados and fruits of all kind. We could arrange farm tours for you. We are very involved with our local community and It is a great one.

Getting around

There is a local bus system. You can find there schedule on line. Hele-on Bus. We are a short distance up from the highway the bus route travels on. But we do recommend you rent a car, so you can see a lot of what the island has to offer.

Other Things to Note

We have many nice beaches near us, like ; Honomalino Bay, Manuka Bay Beach, Road to the Sea, (For Manuka and Road to the Sea you would need a 4 x 4 vehicle) Ho’okena, Pu’uhonua o Honauau (City of Refuge) Two Step, Kealakekua Bay, Green Sands ( nice to have a 4 x 4 for Green Sands to, but not necessary. Without one just means you have to hike 35-45 minutes) and Punaluu (Black Sands). Nice quaint towns to go explore their shops, restaurants and Cafes. Like; Honaunau, Captain Cook, Kainaliu, Kailua Kona, Ocean View, Naalehu, Pahala, Wood Valley, ( There is a beautiful Buddhist Temple to visit in Wood Valley) Volcano and Hilo. Just to name a few. There are many farmers markets you can go to and get local fruits, vegetables, coffee, macnuts, fish and crafts. We can direct you to them. This island has so many things to offer ; golfing, swimming, snorkeling, diving, parasailing, horseback riding, zip lining, helicopter rides, active lava flow to go explore, star gazing on Mauna Kea, fishing, surfing and so much more. • We had an amazing time at Kat and Joe's hale. If you don't mind driving a little, this place is the perfect spot to feel like a local. The hale as just been remodelled and you have everything you need in there to feel like home.

Kat and Joe were also really helpful and gave us some good tips of where to go on island. Don't be shy to ask them!

    We will be back! :)

  • This was a great retreat from the usual tourist areas. It was very clean, comfortable, well stocked, and close to many nice beach areas Joe was gracious, welcoming, and helpful. Cool evening breezes were wonderful and the landscape was lovely. We were provided with fresh fruit grown on the property and some other breakfast items to get us started. What a nice treat!

Heather and Bruce, thank you for the nice review. You were our first official booking :) Sorry I was not home to meet you :( But glad Joe was gracious, helpful and welcoming. He is a good guy. I miss him and our beautiful kingdom we have created there. Please come back anytime. Joe said you are thinking of moving to the Big Island? Please let us know if we can help and be a recourse for you in any way :) Blessing to you two!

  • Kat and Joe were fantastic hosts that provided a stellar apartment with thoughtful touches including fresh grapefruits and a juicer. The apartment is well designed and comfortable and very well situated for exploring the West or South sides of the island. We would return in a second and entertained the idea of simply staying.

Terry and Kate, thank you for the great review :) I know why you entertained the thought of staying, Hawaii is an amazing place! You two were great to have and are always welcome.

  • We were happy to be the first guests to stay in Kat and Joe's newly remodeled hale. The place is beautifully done including the finishes and the decorating and very spacious for a couple- it was really nice to have a full sized refrigerator and stove and loads of counter space. Kat and Joe are working on adding the small touches to help round the place out and are very eager to ensure their guests have a great stay, which means a lot. Joe brought us an armload of grapefruits and a juicer which was an awesome treat. We liked the location as it is close to some of the more remote and secluded beaches in the South Kona/Ocean View area like Honamolino, Road to the Sea beach but also Ho'okena, Two Step, etc. The only downside is the floors are thin and there is a tenant upstairs who you can hear a bit too easily. Kat and Joe sound like they will be proactive in taking some steps to try and soundproof it more. Overall, this is a good place if you are a little more laid back and we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you Kelly for your review. And again, we were honored to have you and Ben as our first guests. So glad you liked the hale and that you two were able to explore some of the gem beaches near our location. Thank you for the list of things still needed to pull the place together. Joe was on it and purchased all the things you suggested and then some :) We are also considering putting carpet in the upstairs unit. In the future that unit will also be used for vacationioners. We are committed to accommodating people so they can have the best possible experience in South Kona. We love it here and we want our guests to feel the same! Kelly and Ben please come back anytime :)
