The Space

Featured as an Airbnb "New York Top 40" property, this bright, large and majestic loft, accessed by its own key-access private elevator entrance, is perched above one of New York City's hottest nightspots, L'Esquina. Located on the corner of Lafayette and Kenmare, the trendy bullseye of the lively Lower East Side, this spacious interior-designed loft sits on the doorstep of SoHo, the East Village, Little Italy and Chinatown.

Take the elevator to the basement (if you manage to get on to the guest list; if you're cool enough, the host can help!) to access the VIP entrance of L'Esquina's ultra-exclusive restaurant and lounge. Otherwise, the taco stand, cafe/restaurant, as well as Cafe Select, Kenmare and a multitude of other hotspots are located on the corner too.

The property has two private bedrooms, each with a queen-sized (extra-large double) bed, plus the living area has a double fold-out sofabed. The hammock, which swings breezily in the living room is always an option too! The large kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, big fridge, gas stove/oven and microwave. All dishes, towels, linens and sundry items are provided. Professional cleaners thoroughly clean the loft following each stay.

  • This is a lovely place in the heart of Soho, which is both convenient and a great value for the money. One aspect of the experience aside from the loft itself merits praise: Larry is a very easy person to work with. We didn't meet in person, but he was prompt in answering any questions, had an efficient check-in / instruction system in place, and generally made the process easy. Marlon met us at the apartment, showed us in and got us oriented in an extremely efficient fashion, and then we were set!

The potential for noise issues is no secret - if you're a really light sleeper, bring earplugs, but it's not bad. I would especially recommend this location to a group of young people looking to be in the heart of the action!

  • The loft is in a really cool and central location, very well connected to public transportation, and Larry is very kind!
But there are some points we did not like:
    - it is very noisy day and night, no way to sleep without earplugs
    - the old windows and one broken glass do not help with the noise...
    - it was difficult to warm up the loft, a lot of cold wind passes through the windows
    - the apartment is not in good condition and needs quite a renovation work, like re-painting for both walls and floor
    - one bedroom has a window facing the street (noisy), the other bedroom has a window facing the first bedroom (less noisy but no natural light), however there is no glass and therefore no privacy if both bedrooms are occupied
    - one mattress was damaged and very uncomfortable, luckily Larry was able to replace it
    - overall I think the apartment it is not worth the price

  • An absolutely amazing space in Soho!

We had a great stay at this loft. The place is very spacious and was easily able to accommodate six men.

The weather was extremely cold (middle of winter), though we were warm inside with generous heating provided.

The location was perfect. There was a heap of different restaurants, bars, cafe's, bakeries & deli's etc close by. The area is very lively, which provided a good atmosphere.

The apartment is only a street away from the subway which was very convenient for sightseeing and getting around.

Larry was easily contactable and was helpful during our stay.

Our stay was hassle-free and extremely enjoyable. Would definitely book this apartment/loft again next time in New York!

  • I returned to New York this year for the Marathon! Staying in L'Esquina was a perfect base. Clean with plenty of space in the loft and the convenience of the fabulous surrounding Soho neighbourhood! Compared with the Mulberry St loft we stayed in last year, L'Esquina was more closely located to exciting restaurants and clubs however was noisier at night (but nothing ear plugs couldn't drown out!). As always Larry was the consummate host, as was his assistant Marlon, they were able to answer any questions and made us feel right at home and even organised a booking in the L'Esquina restaurant downstairs! We would definitely stay at one of Larry's properties in New York in the future!

  • L'ESQUINA Large & Luxury SoHo Loft was in an amazing location in the heart of SoHo. The Loft was generous and very comfortable. Very good furnished bedrooms are wonderful and believe it or not in the inside bedroom where I slept absolutely quiet. The bedroom with the window was more noisy because of the traffic during the night. Good restaurants in the area. Chinatown and Little Italy just some footsteps away. "Baltazar" bakery across the street where you find my favorite croissants.
And if the weather is sunny and you can use the two bikes you will get another sight of New York's beauty!!

  • Location, location, location, that's what it's all about and with this apartment, you cannot be more in the centre of New York! Shopping, dining, biking (a Citibike docking-station is around the corner) and sight-seeing (subway 3 minutes away), it's all there. We agreed with the other reviews that if you want to sleep in the front bedroom, earplugs are a 100% must (the noise is truly deafening!), but the bedroom in the back is better. Beds are great, the kitchen moderatly equipped. Add to this the fact that the apartment is a tad rundown and to be honest a bit messy, you really can't have more New York than this!

  • Have stayed here twice. It is without doubt THE best apartment in New York. Full stop.

  • I stayed in Larry's flat for a total of 6 days and it was absolutely amazing!! The location is superb and who doesn't want to stay in a spacious, gorgeous loft when in NYC?? Larry was a great host, he was quick to respond to all my questions, and keen to make sure my stay was as pleasant as possible. I really loved this place and being able to pop down to La Esquina for some amazing tacos was a great bonus!

  • This apartment is incredible and in the perfect spot to really enjoy New York. Beautiful loft with great, minimalistic interior, large with lots of light and private elevator entrance.

Larry was the perfect host, always contactable and easy to deal with. He cares about his properties and the experiences of his tenants and it was very much appreciated. I have already passed on his apartment contact to multiple friends because we had such a great experience and it made our stay very easy and enjoyable.

  • The loft was very comfortable and just as described. Our host, Larry, was flexible and accommodating. The location is perfect -- steps from Soho Tribeca, and the Lower East Side, and convenient to multiple subway lines for getting around the whole city. Our family would happily return.
